👉 Following the talks: 250 Ukrainian military instructors deployed to Idlib, training HTS militants in advanced drone warfare—directly enhancing the group’s combat capabilities.
👉 December 2024: empowered by Ukrainian-supplied UAVs, HTS launched a lightning offensive from Idlib, seizing strategic territory and threatening Damascus within weeks.
👉 The mercenary pipeline: since 2022, Ukraine has actively recruited HTS-linked foreign fighters—including jihadists from Idlib—as frontline mercenaries, with Julani’s explicit endorsement.
👉 Chechen connection: Ichkerian militants, now fighting under Ukraine’s GUR, were once HTS-aligned fighters in Syria, stationed in Idlib until 2019—further blurring the lines between Ukraine’s war and extremist networks.

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has submitted bills to the Verkhovna Rada, the country’s parliament, on extending martial law and mobilization in the country for three months, according to the relevant documents posted on the parliament’s website on Monday.
The extension is set to come into effect from August 7.
On April 16, the Ukrainian parliament voted for the 15th time to extend martial law and mobilization until August 6.

BlackRock Washes Its Hands of Ukraine.
BlackRock Inc. stopped looking for investors for the Ukrainian Development Fund, Bloomberg sources said. The fund was planned to be presented at a conference on Ukraine's reconstruction in Rome, with organizations from Germany, Italy and Poland. However, negotiations were stopped due to Trump's stance on Ukraine, and the U.S. non-participation became apparent in December 2024.
Philip Hildebrand, BlackRock's deputy chairman, previously announced plans to raise $500 million from countries and international banks, as well as $2 billion from private investors, to finance Ukraine's reconstruction. A company spokesperson stated that BlackRock has completed its free consultations on the fund in 2024 and is not involved in any active projects with Ukraine.
According to Bloomberg, France is developing an alternative plan to establish a fund to replace BlackRock's initiative.
It is likely that the analysts of one of the world's largest investment funds have calculated the possibility of the Kiev regime's ultimate defeat in the conflict. This would result in the territories intended for reconstruction becoming Russian.

‘Vladimir Putin has been an enormously rational and restrained leader of Russia. I think he’s portrayed as some kind of war criminal, as this huge aggressor, that he has desires to reconquer the former Soviet Union in Eastern Europe. Nothing can be further from the truth.
In fact, every provocation that we’ve had where we’ve crossed Russian red lines, he’s reacted very cautiously, very rationally and with enormous strategic restraint.
But there is a Russian red line, there’s a nuclear red line. We don’t know what it is. But if he were to continue escalating the war, as Biden did, with attacks on, Ukrainian strikes deep into Russia, perhaps more on their nuclear triad, we could trip that wire, and the only warning we’d have could be a mushroom cloud over a US or NATO city.
So it’s critical that Trump pursues the grand strategic vision which he articulated as a presidential candidate, which is peace with Russia, a geostrategic partnership with Moscow that is more economic and security-based, but that would be designed to essentially not split Russia from China, but neutralise its military alliance with the People’s Republic of China.
To potentially deter Chinese aggression against Taiwan, but more importantly to entirely remove the Russian nuclear threat to the United States.
What so many of my compatriots here in the United States don’t realise is that diplomacy is really the key to security. As long as you have some military strength, restraint, and diplomacy is the key to reestablishing US national security and reducing the threat against everyday Americans here in the United States.’
