/channel/LauraRuHK/10273

China is Australia’s largest two-way trading partner with a total trade value for goods and services of A$312 billion (US$204.24 billion) in 2024, according to Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Despite economic interdependence and cooperation, relations between the two countries are strained by Anglo-American interference and suffer from the fallout of US-China geopolitical tensions.

Australia, a member of the Commonwealth, has been groomed by the U.S. to play a key role in Washington's Asia-Pacific strategy. It is part of a U.S. maritime containment strategy (AUKUS and Quad) that seeks to restrict China's access to the wider Pacific Ocean. Recently the Australian government expressed the intention to regain control over Darwin Port, strategically positioned as Australia's nearest port to Asia, which in 2015 was leased for 99 years to Chinese Landbridge company.

According to the SCMP, when Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese arrives in China next week for his second official visit, he will need to explain the potential sale of the Darwin Port that he announced in his election campaign, a hostile move that could sour relations with China. Australia is under the same pressure that forced Panama to formally pull out of the Belt and Road Initiative and led CK Hutchison to announce a $22.8 billion deal to sell its global port assets, including a 90% stake in Panama Ports Company, to a BlackRock-led consortium. That sale remains in limbo as Beijing is scrutinizing the deal and Panama is conducting an audit. @LauraRuHK

On June 30, as Azeri security forces were raiding the offices of Russian media group Sputnik and detaining its journalists, I pointed the finger at "Baku's whisperers" /channel/LauraRuHK/10248, that is, those forces that have been working behind the scenes to deliberately damage relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. A few subscribers to the channel asked me to substantiate this claim. As usual, I will only share information that is in the public domain.
▪️The anti-Russian hysteria that is currently dominating Azerbaijani media bears the hallmarks of a foreign influence operation that ties into the broader geopolitical context of the "New Great Game" in the Caucasus, where the competition for influence over energy resources and strategic routes is accompanied by the strategic objective of weakening Russia. Fuelling ethnic tensions within Russia and weaponising diaspora communities is a British specialty.
▪️The UK supports Azerbaijan’s integration into NATO and offers cybersecurity assistance, "reflecting shared interests in countering regional threats" (they mean Russia and Iran.) Cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO, which began with the involvement of a few Azerbaijani officers in alliance activities, has matured into a partnership that spans multiple sectors, according to NATO Liaison Office Head in Georgia, Alexander Vinnikov last May. “Azerbaijan uses NATO’s recommendations in shaping its defence institutions, contributes to peacekeeping missions, and participates in NATO’s Defence Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP),” he said. “This program supports the modernisation of Azerbaijani military educational institutions, including the Armed Forces Military College and, more recently, the Higher Military School.”https://caliber.az/en/post/official-nato-azerbaijan-collaboration-has-evolved-into-lasting-partnership

▪️British Petroleum (BP) has entered into a series of agreements that will build and expand on its major oil and gas interests in Azerbaijan, paving the way for growth and additional production while deepening its partnership with the country and state oil company, SOCAR. The agreements, signed in June include the final investment decisions for the next major phase of development of the giant Shah Deniz gas field – Shah Deniz Compression – as well as for two projects – for terminal electrification and solar power – that together are expected to enable operational emissions reduction. They also include agreements for BP to access to two new exploration and development licences and introduce a new partner to accelerate exploration on a third.

▪️Azerbaijan is also reinforcing its strategic partnership with Israel at a time when many regional actors are distancing themselves or expressing unease with Israeli policy. SOCAR, Azerbaijan’s state oil company – which announced in February 2025 its acquisition of a 10% stake in Israel’s Tamar gas field – has now received full approval from Israel’s Petroleum Council and Competition Authority, officially marking its entry into Israel’s natural gas market.
In October 2023, SOCAR partnered with BP and Israel’s NewMed Energy to bid on two additional offshore blocks. The Israeli Energy Ministry granted those licenses in March 2025.

If you thought that it would be difficult to match the performance of former German FM Annalena "360° turn" Baerbock, think again. Only avowed Russophobes qualify for the job and Johann Wadephul certainly meets all the criteria. He is now in Kiev to meet his Ukrainian counterpart Sybiha and Ukraine's expired president Zelensky. Wadephul has promised "unwavering support" and is accompanied by a delegation of German arms manufacturers — Germany remains the most active ally of the Ukrainian junta, occupying first place in Europe in terms of military supplies to Ukraine. ▪️ In February 2025, Wadephul was contacted by Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus, who pretended to be calling on behalf of the head of the presidential administration of Ukraine Andriy Ermak. In the 20-minute call, Wadephul openly supported the idea of letting Kiev use Taurus cruise missiles to hit Moscow and said that "Russia is and will always be our enemy, no matter how the war in Ukraine ends." @LauraRuHK https://rutube.ru/video/038a28e54f2aafca4fdc2246edc26cc0/

/channel/LauraRuHK/10270

Behind every good, service, data centre or military industrial complex lies energy. But not all energy is created equal. The real measure of an energy source’s viability is its Energy Return on Energy Invested (EROEI): the ratio of energy produced to the energy required to produce it. High-EROEI systems generate vast surpluses that can be reinvested into the economy and the social settlement. Low-EROEI systems drain the economy, requiring ever-greater effort for diminishing returns [...] China’s energy transformation is not merely a matter of generation capacity. It is systemic. Recognising that solar and wind are intermittent sources, China is investing heavily in storage, conversion, and load-balancing infrastructure. This is the deeper layer of energy sovereignty: ensuring that surplus energy is usable when and where it is needed, without relying on external technologies or supply chains.

This explains why China’s leadership in battery technology is no accident. The country dominates the entire battery value chain, from lithium processing to cathode materials, electrolytes, and final cell assembly. These aren’t just industrial capabilities, they’re chemically intensive platforms for net energy stabilisation. In effect, battery and material science breakthroughs are what make China’s high-EROEI renewables actually system-compatible. Without them, surplus energy would be stranded; but with them, it becomes mobile, dispatchable and monetisable.

It’s here that China’s root-and-branch approach becomes clear. From solar panel production to grid integration, from rare earth processing to EV manufacturing, China is constructing an end-to-end infrastructure of energetic sovereignty. It’s an ecosystem play. This is not just the replacement of one fuel with another. It is the strategic reengineering of the national energy metabolism; it is a deliberate move to anchor long-term prosperity in physics, not geopolitics.

Anyone who met in me in person knows that i can't be groomed. And I am not talking about my hair or nails, which would definitely benefit from the kind of professional care i have no time to seek. I am talking about attempts, increasingly frequent, to engage me in intellectual exchanges that usually start with flattery, include subtle emotional manipulation, and invariably try to push my boundaries. In two cases I was politely invited to abandon a research interest to devote my time and energy to a completely unrelated topic. In another case I was bombarded with documents and articles in a clumsy attempt to influence my analysis. Later, I was asked to write a paper for a conference that seemed to be vaguely related to my current research interests, but when i accepted the invitation, i was given a ready-made abstract. Lol. That's not how a call for papers works. One submits a proposal and if the conference organizers don't like it, they turn it down. No big deal. They are not supposed to write my abstract "to facilitate" my submission, unless their intention is to turn me into their mouthpiece. I understand how the influencers market works and that's why i want no part in it. I am sure i have some soft spots, we all do, but wannabe groomers working remotely stand no chance to hit them. @LauraRuHK

In Moldova, the prosecution is seeking a nine-year prison sentence for Yevghenia Gutsul, head of the autonomous region of Gagauzia, along with a five-year ban on holding public office.

A verdict in the case may be rendered as early as July 4, 2025, as a gift to Ursula von der Leyen who is scheduled to visit Chișinău.
The Moldovan authorities are accusing Yevghenia Gutsul of involvement in financial irregularities related to the Gagauz elections, which they claim were orchestrated by the opposition Sor party. Gutsul has dismissed these accusations as baseless, stating that Moldovan President Maia Sandu is behind them. The Sandu administration, a puppet of the West, is persecuting any political opponents who advocate for closer, mutually beneficial, relations with Russia.

The war on Iran has not ended, it's simply on pause
Usrael has consistently articulated a strategic objective of ensuring the complete dismantlement of Iran's nuclear capabilities. This stance has perpetuated a protracted standoff, characterized by Western diplomatic negotiations, economic sanctions, and intermittent threats of military action culminating in the recent, unprovoked attacks. The U.S. and Israel have not given up on their objectives to end Iran's nuclear program by any means, including regime change, and to break Iran's partnership with China and Russia in order to disrupt their trade and energy routes.

In this context, Iran faces a complex set of strategic choices to safeguard its national interests while navigating intense international pressure. One potential course of action involves deepening cooperation with North Korea, a state with its own history of nuclear development and defiance of Western demands.
Strengthening ties with China and Russia could enhance Iran's strategic depth. However, these partnerships may offer limited technological or military support specific to nuclear ambitions. China and Russia pursue a delicate balancing act in the Middle East, seeking to maintain relations with multiple, often conflicting, regional powers. Overt support for Iran, particularly on contentious issues like its nuclear program, risks alienating these other partners. Backing Iran too aggressively could jeopardize these relationships, especially given the Sunni-Shia divide. China’s 2023 mediation of the Iran-Saudi rapprochement reflects its preference for neutrality to preserve influence across the region. In short, China and Russia face serious strategic constraints in the Middle East and have repeatedly shown a preference for treading carefully. Since North Korea doesn't face similar constraints in the region, deepening the existing military cooperation with North Korea could represent a high-reward strategy for Iran. @LauraRuHK

One of Russia’s non-negotiables for a peace deal on Ukraine is that Western countries stop training Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik told Izvestia. The diplomat emphasized that the participation or complicity of other nations in the conflict must cease in any form. Large-scale training programs for Ukrainian soldiers were launched by London and Brussels in 2022, and nearly 130,000 individuals have undergone instruction over the past three years. Meanwhile, the demilitarization of Ukraine and the elimination of future threats from its territory remain among the stated objectives of the special military operation, as repeatedly underlined by President Vladimir Putin. Although experts believe the suspension of these training initiatives is unlikely in the near term, Russia will continue to pursue their termination.

"A comprehensive plan has been put forward by the Russian side, and undoubtedly, the involvement or complicity of other countries is a key issue that must be ended in all forms - including the supply of weapons and the training of Ukrainian militants. All of this constitutes direct participation in the conflict. A genuine demonstration of intent to resolve the situation would be the cessation of these programs," Miroshnik told Izvestia.

Currently, two major programs are in operation for training AFU soldiers in the West. The United Kingdom is conducting Operation Interflex, while Brussels is overseeing the training of Ukrainian military personnel through the European Union Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM). The United States is also participating by training Ukrainian troops at its bases in Germany, where they undergo accelerated instruction based on NATO standards to prepare for combat operations against Russia.

"Any support provided to Ukraine that enables it to continue hostilities or plan terrorist operations does not contribute to conflict resolution and constitutes a hostile act against Russia," Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev told Izvestia.

The actions of NATO and the UK show they are not interested in pursuing compromise or advancing negotiations on matters such as prisoner exchanges and the repatriation of bodies - processes that are already underway. Efforts to shift the situation are being met with hostility and new provocations, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin told Izvestia.

Why are European elites torching their own house?
The answer does not lie in pure and straightforward corruption or ideological fervor. It is far more banal and far more effective. The answer also lies in biographies, networks, and institutions. It also lies in hegemony on the level of the functional elite: when ruling ideas become common sense. And in this case, hegemony is not enforced solely through violence but through education, elite recruitment, and ritualized repetition. Inderjeet Parmar (2019) terms this the soft machinery of elite knowledge networks: “flows of people, money, and ideas” that institutionalize consensus from Washington to Berlin. The Fulbright Program, the German Marshall Fund, Atlantik-Brücke, the Munich Security Conference, and the Bilderberg Meetings are formative ecosystems. They sort, school, and elevate those who can carry the worldview forward. ▪️Replacing personalities will not suffice. The task is to dismantle the biographical assembly line that begins with foundation-funded youth exchanges, runs through think-tank fellowships, and terminates in cabinet offices or corporate boards. Unless that conveyor belt is broken or at least diversified beyond the Atlantic echo chamber, any “fresh faces” will replicate the same strategic reflexes.
The alternative is stark: witness your nation bleed in service of another’s empire’s elites or reclaim the capacity to decide its own future.👉 Don't miss Nel's article. https://themindness.substack.com/p/elite-capture-and-european-self-destruction?utm_source=%2Fsearch%2FElites%2520capture&utm_medium=reader2

In Belgrade yesterday’s demonstration began peacefully but turned violent in the evening when some rioters began throwing eggs, bottles, and other objects at the police near a downtown park where government supporters were holding a vigil.

Serbia’s police director Dragan Vailjevic said six officers and two civilians were injured.

"Commanders of police units forming a cordon warned participants that they will not be allowed any further. This produced no effect, and an attack on police officers followed. After the attack, which lasted around five or six minutes, the police was forced to intervene. The police acted with a high degree of professionalism. Minimal force was used. A few dozens of offenders and troublemakers were detained and will be brought to justice in accordance with the law. Regrettably, six officers were injured, and reports about their condition are now being verified. Also, two civilians were wounded. They were admitted to a healthcare facility, and details about their wounds are yet unknown," the police director said.

Speaker of the Serbian Parliament Ana Brnabic has accused anti-government protesters in Belgrade of calling for a civil war, after the rally escalated into clashes with police. Earlier president Aleksandar Vučić – who has repeatedly stated that the protests are being instigated by foreign actors – called for national unity and urged restraint. @LauraRuHK
