🕯 August 8 marks the 15th anniversary of the Saakashvili regime's military aggression against the people of South Ossetia and Russian peacekeepers from the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the zone of the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict.
In the early hours of August 8, 2008, on the orders of the then President of Georgia, the Georgian armed forces launched the so-called "operation to impose constitutional order on the territory of South Ossetia," which resulted in numerous casualties, including among Russian citizens.
❗️ Georgia’s actions were a flagrant violation of international agreements on the peaceful settlement of the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict. The fact that those actions were deliberate was documented in the report of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the Conflict in the Caucasus established under the auspices of the European Union.
Russia’s involvement prevented the conflict from escalating further. The criminal military escapade undertaken by the Saakashvili regime met with an adequate response: in those extreme circumstances, Russia first conducted a successful operation to force the aggressor to peace, and then recognised South Ossetia, as well as Abkhazia, which was destined to the same fate as the neighbouring republic, as sovereign independent states, taking them under its protection.

11 Chinese 🇨🇳 and Russian 🇷🇺 vessels approached the Aleutian Islands and have since left without entering US territorial waters, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Sunday, citing anonymous US officials.
While the vessels remained in international waters, spokesperson of the US northern command claimed this was a "historic first" and "highly provacative." Neither is true.
This is the third such naval patrol, the last taking place in September 2022. Chinese experts noted that the U.S. regularly violates China's territorial integrity through regular "freedom of navigation" exercises through the Taiwan Straits, urging the U.S. to reflect on itself instead of hyping non-existent dangers from China or Russia.

🔹In #Kherson Direction, our forces are hit the AFU near the #Antonovsky Bridge with FABs. Locals report strong blows at #Berislav, where the AFU tries to amass reserves.
🔹In #Zaporozhye Direction, the AFU continues to pound our positions with cluster ammo. At #Rabotino another AFU armoured column was defeated, and by counterattack ours pushed them back about 1.5 km northeast from the remains of the village. Ours also repelled an attack near #Uspenovka.
🔹In #SouthDonetsk Direction, ours repulsed a small groups attacked northeast of #Urozhaynoye. West of #Staromayorskoye we managed to push the AFU out of the landings, and in the north an armoured column was covered with fire. The AFU moves reserves to #Temirovka, and a tank company stands near Bolshaya Novosyolka. Russians strike at AFU deployment sites. Points near #Makarovka, #Priyutnoye and near #Ugledar were destroyed.
🔹In #Avdeyevka Sector, the AFU shells our positions with cluster and high precision rounds.
🔹In #Bakhmut Direction, ours do their best to hold the defence on the southern flank of the city. AFU attempted to attack. At #Kurdyumovka we counterattack without tangible results. The AFU build up attack reserves in the southern section for more powerful attacks. On the northern flank, they prepare for an attack on #Yakovlevka. Small arms battles at #Berkhovka, ours shell reserves in #Khromovo.
🔹In #Liman and #Svatovo Directions, we repulsed AFU attacks at #Torskoye and in #Serebryanskoye Forest. Ours advance near #Karmazinovka. Reserves arrive, strikes on AFU positions, incl. at #Yampol on counterattack forces. This could be a harbinger of an even more powerful offensive.
🔹In #Kupyansk Sector, ours move deep into the AFU defence, according to MoD 11km along the front and 3km deep. We strike the AFU near #Kupyansk, the intensification of our attacks is not ruled out.

Today's episode of "Ukraine of the Brain" features a cartoon. An explanation is below.
The word for “a bang”, or “a clap” in Russian is “хлопок”, stress on the second vowel. The word for “cotton” is spelled exactly the same, but the stress is on the first vowel. In Russian news, explosions or similar events are often described as “claps” or “bangs”.
“Cotton” in Ukranian is “bavovna”. Ukrainians wouldn’t be Ukrainians if one of them did not come up with a weird creature, Bavovnyatko – “a little bavovna”, which could be roughly translated as “a little clap".
This is the description of the “creature” by the author: “Bavovnyatko is a ghost animal, soft and excited. At night, Bavovnyatko quietly goes to bases, depots, airfields, oil refineries and other places filled with flammable objects and play with fire.”
The “creature” has also been described as “adorable, although quite bloodthirsty”.

US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland visited Niger on Monday, August 7, where she met with representatives of the military who had previously removed the country's president from power. It is reported by Reuters .
As Nuland told reporters, "the talks were very frank and at times quite difficult."
Earlier, rebels in Niger said that two Central African states were deploying forces to participate in the invasion of their country.
On July 26 , it became known that in the capital of Niger, Niamey , President Mohamed Bazum was being held by the rebels, while the army, which remained loyal to the politician, put forward an ultimatum to them. Then, on the night of July 27, the rebellious military announced on national television the removal of the president and the transfer of power to the "National Council for the Salvation of the Motherland", as well as the closure of borders, the suspension of the constitution and the banning of any political parties.

💬 Their possible delivery to the Ukrainian Air Force was discussed back in May. At that time, Berlin officially rejected the idea, but after the Ukrainian Air Force received the Storm Shadow/SCALP, the Taurus delivery was just a matter of time.

🔹 Near #Kupyansk, the servicemen of the RF Armed Forces grouping "West" continue the positional offensive. As a result of the attack on the section Liman 1st - #Pervomayskoye, Russian fighters knocked out the formations of the AFU's 14th Mechanized Brigade from several strongholds.
▪️ At the moment, the Russian army has taken important positions near the landings south of #Olshana and #Pervomayskoye. The line of control runs along the forest belts adjacent to the settlements.
▪️ At the same time, to the south, scouts of the 1st Tank Army of the RF Armed Forces detected an AFU APC in the village of #Kislovka, southeast of #Kupyansk, and hit it with an antitank complex.
❗️Due to the serious deterioration of the situation, the AFU command has moved additional units of the Air Assault Forces's 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade to #Sinkovka to assist the 14th Brigade and combined rifle formations.
▪️ Also, enemy mechanized units arrived in the #Dvurechnaya area. It is not entirely clear to which formation they belong. It is possible that they belonged to the 41st Mechanized Brigade, which was earlier deployed near #Kupyansk.
