However - here's the truth: in the pursuit of becoming a few shades fairer, you may be inviting serious side-effects and potentially grave infections. There are various popular cosmetics and fairness creams and topical medications that promise to make you fairer, which contain a "cocktail of harmful steroids" supposed to be dispensed only through a prescription. The use of such medications has been steadily increasing in the country, becuase of the horrid importance attached to being "fair", but at the same time, the side-effects are coming out in the open. Simple skin conditions are be coming almost non-treatable. There is also an increase in the number of patients with side effects caused by steroid creams, used either alone or in combination with a topical anti fungal and or anti bacterial. Be careful about what you choose - becoming fairer, or staying healthy.

According to new rules, if an accountant/professional issues any certificate or report, and if there is any element of false information in it, then a penalty of Rs. 10,000 can be levied upon him. Here is what our reader, Pradeep Kumar Garg, has to say about this rule..
“Budget has proposed to levy penalty on the false certificate issued by ACCOUNTANT to the assessee under Sec 271J of Income Tax Act 1961 which is applicable only on CAs since tax audit can be handled by CAs only. Since the certificate is issued by any professional on the basis of documents n records produced by the clients and the clients other than company need not maintain complete set of books of accounts & get it audited by any professional, The TAX AUDIT as well as any other CERTIFICATE issued by the professional under any law, is only based on specific documents and records made available to him by the assessee or client who is required to produce the certificate or audit report to the designated authority under the specific laws. In other words, CA has been put to the mercy of unscrupulous businessmen who will obtain certain certificates on the basis of limited information and the CA may be prosecuted and punished by various enforcement agencies who collect economic information from various sources. Although I am not against this provision as it will curb professional malpractices, yet I want that the provision should be made applicable to all the professionals who issue various audit reports n certificates under various laws as well as the concerned client. Since such reports n certificates have direct or indirect impact on the economic affairs of the business entrepreneurs and direct benefit goes to them. They should not be allowed to obtain certificates for a meager fee and blame the professionals for the defaults. Penalty should be applicable to assessee as well as professionals both, all professions should be covered and suitable explanation should be added to the penalty provision for procedure.”

2. Don’t say “yes” too often. According to the Pareto Principle, 20% of the effort produces 80% of the results; however, 20% of the results consumes 80% of the effort. Instead of working harder, we should focus primarily on those efforts that produce 80% of the results and forgo the rest.
3. Stop doing everything yourself and start letting people help you.
4. Stop doing repetitive tasks and start automating it. People usually do things manually because it’s easy and requires almost no research. But, people often forget that time is money.

Why 'Spotify' was chosen as the ideal name for the music and video streaming platform? Originally started in Sweden, the word Spotify doesn’t actually seem to mean anything in Swedish (although Google Translate does still attribute it to being Swedish). Instead, the company’s founders Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon were sitting around one day trying to think of a name when one of the suggestions was misheard as ‘Spotify’, which then sort of just stuck. Before the Budget is announced, here are the thoughts of our reader CS Pradeep Kumar Garg:
It is the final consumer who pays or bears the burden of all type of taxes and public revenue in the end. In fact, even poor people who do not get subsidies pay taxes like others. Subsidies granted by any govt authority under any rules are actually borne by the people who directly or indirectly pay taxes, and therefore, we the general public must oppose the proposals of tax exemptions and subsidies in all forms and natures since the subsidies create a class of people who are reared up on the behest of tax payers and become a vote bank for the politicians leading to dirty politics, economic crimes, exploitation of poor and women, girl child, etc. Those who don't pay income tax due to exemption limit or exempt income source, spend their saved money in personal expenditure or investments and either pay indirect taxes like sales tax and service tax thereon, or bear higher cost or loss in form of high prices. This creates a wide gap between direct and indirect tax payers. Direct revenue starts falling and indirect revenue starts increasing in due course and people demand more and more direct tax exemptions. In other words, direct tax exemptions proliferate black money and develop cash economy and corrupt practices. Therefore, all exemptions from public revenue to all persons in any form should be scrapped and applicable income tax rates should be kept below than companies and firms for the individual tax payers. This will change the whole picture as more and more individuals will start filing ITR and pay marginal tax. Undisclosed incomes and wealth may also be declared for small sum of tax and regularization and pumping back black money into economy!
