In Somalia, TPAO gained exclusive rights to explore and produce oil in three offshore blocks covering 16,000 km².

◾️Royalty Issues: Somalia's royalty share is capped at 5%, far below the 30% seen in other countries.
◾️Unequal Revenue Split: TPAO recovers up to 90% of revenue before Somalia gets its share, which it will get only once the costs of the exploration are covered.
◾️Export & Profit Concerns: TPAO can export 100% of oil tax-free and keep profits from local sales, deviating from global norms.
