What other shows are as great as the first four seasons of Game of Thrones?

I don’t think any tv show I have seen quite matches up to those first four GOT seasons - that being said, I haven’t watched much tv!

What other tv shows are as straight up spectacular, in your opinion?

I know Randall Tarly did not support Daenerys cause he said she was a foreigner but they were on the Targaryen's side in the last war, If Jon Snow had publicly proclaimed himself as >!Rhaegars son and tried to claim the throne, Do you think Randall would have sided with him(assuming he believed he was telling the truth)!<

Rewatching GOT and once again I was not ready for “Hold The Door”
Every single time I see this scene I cry my ass off. Hodor was always one of my favorite characters because I see myself in him a lot, a gentle quiet giant. The only thing that helps is his look of determination at the end. He will not give up, he will do whatever is necessary to help Bran; he will hold the door.

GoT/HoTD What would have changed if armour actually worked like it did in real life?
Alright, how much things would have changed if armour in the serie actually behaved like it did IRL?
Irl, a sword slash, or even thrust, would never in a millions years penetrate steel or even iron plate, hell even a spear would have a very hard time at piercing anything more than maille or gambeson.

Do you think Ser Barristan could have survived his encounter with the sons of the harpy for instance? All of his wounds were below the neck, where he was armoured in near full plate, I think that unless he failed to protect his head itself he should have survived (and if he had a proper helmet he'd probably be able to absolutely wreck half of that mob by himself!)
What about others events in the show?

I know that we're talking about a universe where the undead and dragons and even pure magic are all a thing, but it still kind of made me visibly cringe whenever I saw a sword slashing through a steel helmet. I could possibly suspend my disbelief if it was, say, a valyrian steel sword doing that (because it's the setting's ordained unobtainium metal) but almost everytime something like that happens, it's just a simple weapon.

Just finished the books and I kinda feel bad for D+D.

Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t a fan of how things ended in the show. But after finishing A Dance With Dragons today I’m surprised they were able to have an ending as good(?) as it was. The book ends with huge cliff hangers all over the place. Not sure how helpful GRRM was in the final seasons but just off the books I have no idea how things are gonna move forward.

They took out magic except in a few cases which I think really hurt their ability to end the show in a proper way. Brans abilities haven’t been fully fleshed out, the dragons still have questions around them, Jon warging ability is present but it seems like he’s hardly scratched the surface of that after Varamyrs chapter. Arya and her faceless training has hardly involved actual faces. The Ironborn have weird things going on. The dragon horn and horn of winter are mysteries that still need unfurling. So many things that they left out seem to be crucial to the ending. I understand why the did it but I think they kinda fucked up in that department.

The dornish plotting as well as Aegon were removed and those stories are just getting started. It makes sense they weren’t involved in the show because obviously they didn’t have enough to work with but still hampered their ending.

Not sure that anyone cares but I needed to get my thoughts out somewhere and I couldn’t help but thinking of how the show ended and where it went astray.

What is the status/lifestyle of the Free Folk (and Jon Snow) after the series ends?

So Jon takes off with the Free Folk after the series ends. They head to the still-inhospitable north. Do they go just back to a life of marauding land-piracy? Does Jon just roll with that?

Is he stupid?
I mean he knows Ramsay killed Domeric.
yet he keeps Ramsay close.
he admits that Ramsay is a 'mad dog' yet he makes an effort to legitimize him.
he also knows that Ramsay would kill any child he would have with Walda.
yet he keeps him close
things would be a lot easier for Roose if he had killed Ramsay right after marrying walda

I like the Arya and Tywin scenes but
Are we suppose to believe that after he figured out she is a Northerner and schools her on how to say Me lord cause she obviously isn’t a low born he would just let her go. Great scenes but as soon as he figured it out he would have gone out his way to find out who she is especially with them having Jamie and someone having just trying to kill him

What if Arthur Dayne stayed at Kings Landing to protect Elia and her kids and Jaime went to the Tower of Joy?
Would Dayne kill the mad king? Would he say why he did? I think he might be able to stop Lorch and The Mountain from killing Elia and her children. Maybe he'd flee King's Landing with them.
Jaime I think would most likely die at the Tower, and more of Ned's companions would have survived the fight

Has anyone else reach the point where they can't stand
seeing and hearing Littlefinger anymore? I'm on my second run through the series and want to just skip over all his scenes... except for the last scene. I would feel the same way about Janos Slynt were his scenes a little bit longer.

About Rhaegar and Lyanna
Do you think Barristan Selmy knew about Rhaegar and Lyanna affair?
Because he knew the Prince very well, he must have known that he could not have kidnapped her. If he indeed knew about the relationship, do you think he could have also known for Jon given Ned's honor?
