⚡Sanctions on 118 vessels, 45 Russian and foreign companies, and the Mir payment system.

⚡A lowered oil price cap of $47.6 per barrel.

⚡A full ban on transactions with Rosneft and Gazpromneft.

⚡Plans to phase out Russian LNG by 2027.

⚡Restrictions on Russian banks, crypto platforms, and third-country oil refineries.

⚡Export bans on certain chemicals, ores, metals, and salts.

⚡Tighter export controls for industries in Russia, India, and China.

⚡Sanctions targeting third countries, including China, accused of aiding Russia’s military industry.


The EC also plans to propose using Russian assets to support Ukraine.

❗️Albanese-Trump meeting looks shaky as PM prepares to depart

As Albanese readies to depart for the United Nations General Assembly in New York, a meeting with Trump has yet to be locked in and is far from guaranteed.

Failing to secure a meeting with Trump would be another blow to Albanese on foreign policy, after he was unable to finalise security agreements during visits to Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea.

When asked about a possible meeting with Trump in the US, Albanese said earlier this week that “we will meet when we meet”.

🇮🇷🇺🇳 JUST IN! Iran unexpectedly withdrew on Thursday a resolution it had drafted with Russia, China and several other states that called for a ban on attacks against nuclear sites, just before it was scheduled for a vote at the annual meeting of the U.N. nuclear watchdog’s members.

Western diplomats, speaking anonymously about internal talks, said the U.S. had been lobbying intensively to block the proposal. Washington, they noted, warned that American funding for the International Atomic Energy Agency could be reduced if the resolution was adopted and if the agency took steps to restrict Israel’s rights within it.

❗️A report by Victoria's Parliamentary Budget Office has found Victoria Police has spent an estimated $25 million deploying officers to weekly pro-Palestine rallies in Melbourne's CBD and on other operational activities related to the Gaza-Israel war.

The report was requested by opposition MP David Southwick, who is the shadow police minister and represents the seat of Caulfield, which includes a large Jewish population.

He said the costs equated to $1 million each month.

"That figure doesn't include the loss of business trade, the loss of tourism and even the cleaning costs of these protests," Mr Southwick said.

Mr Southwick called on the state government to toughen protest laws, including introducing a permit system that exists in other states.

"Police get pulled from police stations across Victoria to deal with protests in Melbourne and that compromises safety for all of us.
