OPTAVIA rebrands to Trilivy
A former colleague I've stayed connected with on social media lost some weight and became a "Certified Independent Health Coach."
At first, I was genuinely happy for her. But it didn't take long before her posts started giving off cult-like vibes. Eventually she shared an invite to an informational session, and the password was "Optavia." It was already pretty obvious she was involved in an MLM, but that confirmed it.
I still follow her because it's weirdly fascinating. She's completely bought in and seems committed for the long haul. She projects this image of success with trips to Florida, "exclusive" dinners with the CEO, and all the usual MLM fanfare. Then you look at her Instagram and most posts barely get a single like.
It's entertaining, but I also feel bad for her family. They have to be confused, and probably exhausted by it. Optavia has become her entire personality. It's awkward, it's strange, and honestly a little sad.
Just an FYI, they're now going by Trilivy, so keep an eye out.

I work at a bakery in a grocery store and one of my regulars asked if I was looking for another job and asked me to meet with her over zoom about a company her and her husband work for. I’m very desperate for another job as I’m working and saving to get out of a bad situation while also going to college and this seemed like a way to make some extra money without working too often, so I went against my better judgment and signed their documents after our first interview. After doing more research I saw a lot of people saying it’s a scam and you’ll pay more than you receive. I know this was really stupid of me, but I haven’t spent any money with them yet for a license or anything and I’m not going to start working for them. How do I get out of this?

MLMs in Australia
We have had Amway,Herbalife and Thermamix for years and more recently we have had Monat and Kangen and I have seen here Bravenly is trying to establish a beach head.
My question is how do these MLMS grow, we are not a religious country so people don't have the church and other communities to try and recruit.
I know a lot of the Kangen cult say they do online advertising (i have not seen a single one).
We are a small country and i am struggling to understand how these organisations have organic growth without churches etc to recruit from.

What can we do about MLM ourselves? I want to create an anti MLM NGO to raise awareness and educate people about this scam but seeing the hopelessness of the situation in my country makes me feel doubtful
So I was researching about MLM and asking from different AI models too
Well those who are already familiar with MLM don't need to know much since there's not much to do in any MLM except fooling and scamming people
But my goal is that I want to make an end to these pyramid schemes and structures, I know it doesn't sound possible or even rational considering that these companies have multi million $ in their backups but I still believe I should do something
Basically about me, I haven't done or experienced much in life maybe that's why I wish to go down this path? I want to take action against these fraudsters but at the same time I don't know how to, I am just an average person in a country filled with MLMs, I don't even have 0.5% of the resources these 'direct selling' 'network marketing' companies have
Should I just concentrate on my own life and try to make a living or should I pursue the path that motivates me even though I have no legal degree

A relative joined cutco, got my grandma to do the presentation. Do they really get paid from doing the presentation? She plans on saying no to everything and I know for a fact she will, she is very strong minded.
Do I even attempt to explain it’s an MLM? He’s young, dumb, in college and need the money. Why he just doesn’t go retail for a job is beyond me. We all try to help him out where we can anyway which is the frustrating part.

Can't sleep - I can't believe I let myself get duped like this...
I've been very anti-mlm for so long and thought I was educated enough to avoid them but tonight I fear we got duped...
Husband answered the door tonight to a young girl, college aged, claiming to be from an education company. He let her in and so I felt sort of obligated to listen to the pitch because now she's on my couch and shes so young and super nice and obviously I want my almost 3 year old daughter to get a good education. I had no idea it was even a sales pitch at first, I thought maybe some kind of survey or someone reaching out from the local school district? Idk why my alarm bells didnt immediately go off, door to door stuff is almost always a scam.. She wasn't even pushy about it. I honestly don't know why I didn't just say no thanks especially when she mentioned the faith books part of it I should've known it would be a company I didnt want to support.
She does her pitch, my daughter is loving all the sample books, my husband has recently worked some overtime so we decide to splurge on the set of books (I'm embarrassed to say how much but it was definitely overpriced)... and then after she's left I started researching the company - Southwestern Advantage - and oh my god it's horrible. The books themselves are nice quality so I don't necessarily think the scam is the product, but I'm really upset we allowed our money to go towards a company that preys on young college students like that. I just feel like a damn fool now. I want to cancel our order, but my daughter is loving the new stack of books and I just feel so awkward and embarassed about the whole thing.
