The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns in the strongest terms the illegal and brutal action carried out by the U.S. terrorist military in attacking the Iranian commercial vessel "Toska" on the evening of Sunday, April 20, 1405, near the Iranian coast in the Sea of Oman.
This action, which was accompanied by the intimidation of the sailors, the ship’s crew, and their families, constitutes an act of maritime piracy and terrorism that not only violates the fundamental principles and rules of the United Nations Charter and international law, but also constitutes yet another example of a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement of 19 Farvardin 1405 and is considered an act of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has brought this matter to the attention of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the members of the Security Council of that organization, as well as the International Maritime Organization, and has called for a firm and serious condemnation and a response from international institutions and responsible governments in the face of the criminal action carried out by the United States against international maritime transport.
While warning of the extremely grave consequences of this illegal and criminal U.S. action, the Islamic Republic of Iran insists on the need for the immediate release of the Iranian vessel, its sailors, its crew, and their families.
