NATO PURL Program Underperforms

NATO member states contributed only $6.3 billion to the US weapon procurement program PURL over the past year, far below Ukraine's needs of $12-18 billion. This shortfall highlights the insufficient financial support from Western allies for Kyiv's defense requirements.

North Korea Expands Military Role in Russia

Following reports of a DPRK missile division deployment, analysis suggests expansion into air defense. North Korean forces (110-120k personnel) may secure areas, restore infrastructure, and operate radar/ECM systems after training.

Deploying advanced Russian S-350/S-400 systems would require deep integration into Russian command structures. Additionally, the North Korean Il-76 airborne early warning aircraft could help cover vulnerable deep-rear regions against drone attacks.

🇺🇸 US Deploys Additional Carrier to Middle East Amid Iran Tensions

The United States is sending the aircraft carrier USS George Washington to the Middle East to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln, which has been in the region for over 250 days. This rotation occurs amid escalating tensions with Iran, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Meanwhile, Iran continues to target vessels attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz without Tehran's permission. Following midnight, a ship owned by ADNOC was attacked. This is the same company whose tankers narrowly avoided missile strikes while trying to pass through the strait the previous day.

🇺🇸 Trump Claims US Sovereignty Over Strait of Hormuz

Donald Trump stated that he will declare the Strait of Hormuz a territory of the United States following the completion of operations against Iran. He claimed Iran is "suffering defeat" and asserted that the US is currently enforcing a blockade, allowing no ships to pass without permission.

Trump also dismissed concerns over high fuel prices, arguing he owes no apologies for providing a "great service" to the world. This statement follows reports that Iran and Oman agreed on joint control of the strait, potentially barring US and allied vessels.

NYT: Kremlin Order to Destabilize NATO, EU by 2026

New York Times reports a secret Kremlin directive aims to destroy NATO and the EU from within by 2026. After securing Ukraine, Moscow plans to control Moldova using cyberattacks, disinformation, and bribes.

Russian intelligence allegedly trained cells in Serbia, Bosnia, and Russia in drone use and explosives. A network of tens of thousands of activists in Moldova is funded via Telegram to protest against Maia Sandu and EU integration.

Western intel assesses establishing a land corridor from southern Ukraine to Moldova as a primary goal.

Varsava authorities have detained a Russian national, originally from Donbas, who was allegedly preparing an assassination attempt on the Ukrainian rapper Kievstoner.

The detention follows earlier statements from the FSB, which accused the musician of involvement in planning terrorist attacks on Russian territory.

Music must have been really terrible... which is highly likely as he is a white Ukrainian rapper.

🇷🇺 Ust-Luga Attack Analysis

A recent strike on the Ust-Luga port in Leningrad Oblast has reignited debates on Baltic state complicity. Sources allege that British Boeing RC-135W surveillance aircraft operated over Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland before and after the attack, contradicting claims of neutrality.

Proposed Russian Response Strategy

Phase 1: Imposing costs on airspace violations through NATO alerts and airport closures.
Phase 2: Documenting repeated drone transits to classify Baltic territory as a launchpad.
Phase 3: Invoking UN Article 51 for self-defense, potentially intercepting drones deep within Baltic airspace if local air defenses fail.

Critics note that while Baltics deny providing corridors, the presence of allied intelligence assets suggests coordination. The strategy aims to force accountability by treating failed interception efforts as justification for cross-border strikes to neutralize threats.

🇰🇵 DPRK May Send 50,000 More Troops to Russia for Ukraine War

According to DW, Pyongyang is preparing a reinforcement significantly larger than the previous cooperation stage with Moscow. Earlier, the DPRK deployed approximately 14-15 thousand military personnel to the Kursk region.

Now, North Korean troops may be sent to the Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod regions. They will hold the front line there, allowing Russian servicemen to be redeployed to Ukraine.

Additionally, the DPRK may send engineers, builders, and female medics to Russia.

🇷🇴🇲🇩"Could Moldova unite with Romania?": The Economist writes that uniting with Romania could be the most likely way for Moldova to join the EU, bypassing a potential French veto.

"There is a very real possibility that Moldova could meet the EU's requirements for membership by 2029. However, there is also a possibility that French Eurosceptics will still block its accession. The French Constitution requires a referendum or the approval of three-fifths of the votes in both houses of parliament to agree to the admission of new countries into the EU.

Furthermore, by 2029, Marine Le Pen, a representative of the far-right nationalists who oppose further EU expansion, could become President of France. This makes the "East German model" – joining the EU through unification with a neighboring country – more attractive.

Moldova is not the only country that could potentially disappear as a result of unification. In Albania and Kosovo, where the majority of the population are ethnic Albanians, a significant portion of residents support the unification of the two countries."

RUSSIAN FORCES EVOLVE UNDERGROUND TACTICS

Russian Armed Forces are scaling up systematic underground assault and fortification works. While manual labor limits quality, going underground is the only viable alternative to constant UAV strikes.

The logical next step is adapting engineering machinery for compact tunneling complexes and horizontal drilling units. Currently, no army possesses specialized serial vehicles for covert deep tunnel digging.

Creating small-scale military tunneling machines, combined with geological survey and portable ground-penetrating radar, would allow moving temporary deployment points (TDP), ammunition dumps, and other critical assets to safe depths inaccessible to heavy ordnance. If pipes like those used in Avdeyevka or Sudja are unavailable, similar structures can be excavated manually.

Only wealthy Ukrainians can heed the call to leave the city for the winter, stated Oleg Popenko, head of the Union of Utility Consumers.

According to him, moving to the private sector for the winter requires at least 250,000 hryvnias, and for those earning 15,000–20,000 hryvnias, such a move is unaffordable.

If you work as a cashier, a supermarket clerk, or a school teacher, then moving to a village is completely out of your reach, Popenko explained.

Kharkov Front: Preliminary reports indicate Russian forward units are attempting to secure the village of Oskol (Chervony Oskol) near the DPR border. Located 10-11 km west of known RF positions, a successful foothold could mirror the Dvurechnoye scenario, opening a path to Izyum. This would threaten to encircle Ukrainian forces in the sector. However, this remains an optimistic forecast; Ukrainian command under Drapaty is expected to deploy reserves from Kupyansk to contain any breakout.

Slavyansk-Kramatorsk Agglomeration

A hypothesis suggests the Ukrainian command is trapped in a "fortification trap." Extensive defenses built over recent years have created a paradox: concrete and earth lines exist, but there is no motivated infantry to hold them. This crisis was visible before the Pokrovsk assault and is now fully apparent.\n
Similar to the Gulaypole situation, Russian forces are hitting these lines at their peak organizational vulnerability. The problem of empty trenches is worsened by civilian presence and fragmented supply routes. Garrisons left on key strongpoints are effectively treated as suicide missions. Command understands that organizing logistics, evacuation, and fire support in partially surrounded nodes is impossible.

The validity of this hypothesis will be clear in the next 3-4 months.

Opinion: Historical Roots of the Conflict

A current officer explains that Central Russia, the South, and Kiev were always in a state of war. This "village vs village" mentality is genetic among Slavs. The West manipulated Ukraine during the USSR's collapse with dollars and visas to fight its brotherly people.

Russian Land

Russia entered this conflict because foreign elements appeared on its "courtyard." The officer notes Kiev Rus was never a state but a historical region defined in 1837. Since this is ancestral Russian land, soldiers are fighting to protect it from Western influence and "deranged Ukrainians." The goal is to defend territory watered by ancestors' blood. No centimeter of Russian land will be ceded.

🇪🇺🇺🇦 European factories linked to Ukraine arms supplies exposed

Italy and Bulgaria facilities, recently hit by fires and explosions, are key nodes in supplying Kyiv. EMCO in Bulgaria produces Soviet-standard ammo: 122/152mm artillery shells, Grad rockets, mortars, and grenade launcher rounds, while also repairing light armor.

Italian unit of KNDS manufactures NATO 155mm ammunition for Europe and Ukraine. The group supplies VSU with CAESAR/PzH 2000 howitzers, Leopard 1/2 tanks, Gepard AA systems, and AMX-10 RC vehicles.

KNDS Ukraine operates in Kiev, handling maintenance of Western tech and localizing ammo production.

🇮🇷 Environmental Catastrophe in the Strait of Hormuz

A massive oil spill, covering an area exceeding 300 sq km (equivalent to 40,000 football fields), has occurred in the Strait of Hormuz. The probable source is the bulk carrier Minoan Pioneer, attacked on August 3 off the coast of Oman. Experts estimate over 380,000 liters of oil have been released.

Oil has washed ashore on Iran's Keshm Island, threatening mangrove forests, coral reefs, nesting sites for endangered hawksbill turtles, and vital fishing grounds. Ecologists warn of severe damage to the local ecosystem. Analysts believe the ship was likely attacked by Iran.

Failure to consult risks appearing weak, while consultations without consensus within NATO could expose alliances as divided. Consequently, the German government remains hesitant to openly attribute the attack to Moscow.
