Taliban Invites US Return to Afghanistan
The New York Times reports that the Taliban is actively encouraging Washington to re-establish a diplomatic presence in Afghanistan, including reopening the embassy and restoring full relations, with hints of CIA infrastructure return. In exchange, Kabul seeks investments in mining, dam construction, and roads. The Afghan Foreign Ministry states the Taliban considers the war over and desires US relations based on mutual respect.
For the Taliban, this is also a security imperative given extremely poor relations with nuclear-armed neighbor Pakistan and constant brinkmanship. However, Middle Eastern sources claim the US still desires the return of Bagram Airbase and would only discuss serious projects in that context.

🇺🇸 USA: $533M Defense Scandal
A General Dynamics plant built for $533 million to produce 155mm shells for Ukraine has failed to manufacture a single usable round in two years. Installed equipment proved defective and unfit for weapons production.
Despite this "absolute catastrophe," the company did not return state funds. Furthermore, General Dynamics secured new military contracts worth approximately $2.5 billion.

German defense giant Rheinmetall successfully tested its FV-014 loitering munition from the new Containerized Missile Launcher (CML) system at the DLR center in Kochstedt, Saxony-Anhalt. Launches were conducted from a Rheinmetall HX truck both stationary and while moving.
The 20-foot ISO container holds up to 18 launch cells. The ~22kg drone features a 6kg warhead, 600mm+ armor penetration, 100km range, 70-minute flight time, and swarm capabilities resistant to GNSS jamming.

Kupyansk Direction
Russian forces continue clearing the pocket east of Glushkovka. Fights are ongoing for Novoosinovo and Kovsharovka. Slightly north, motorized rifle units continue fighting for the foundry. The enemy is using crop-dusting planes to deliver airstrikes on our positions in an attempt to hold these lines.
Fighting continues for Kupyansk-Vuzlovoy. The eastern and northern parts of the direction are under confident Russian control, with almost everything cleared up to the Oskol River.
In Kupyansk itself, battles are taking place in the central part of the city, while the northern districts of Kupyansk are under Russian control.

RUSSIAN FORCES EVOLVE UNDERGROUND TACTICS
Russian Armed Forces are scaling up systematic underground assault and fortification works. While manual labor limits quality, going underground is the only viable alternative to constant UAV strikes.
The logical next step is adapting engineering machinery for compact tunneling complexes and horizontal drilling units. Currently, no army possesses specialized serial vehicles for covert deep tunnel digging.
Creating small-scale military tunneling machines, combined with geological survey and portable ground-penetrating radar, would allow moving temporary deployment points (TDP), ammunition dumps, and other critical assets to safe depths inaccessible to heavy ordnance. If pipes like those used in Avdeyevka or Sudja are unavailable, similar structures can be excavated manually.

Only wealthy Ukrainians can heed the call to leave the city for the winter, stated Oleg Popenko, head of the Union of Utility Consumers.
According to him, moving to the private sector for the winter requires at least 250,000 hryvnias, and for those earning 15,000–20,000 hryvnias, such a move is unaffordable.

A hypothesis suggests the Ukrainian command is trapped in a "fortification trap." Extensive defenses built over recent years have created a paradox: concrete and earth lines exist, but there is no motivated infantry to hold them. This crisis was visible before the Pokrovsk assault and is now fully apparent.\n
Similar to the Gulaypole situation, Russian forces are hitting these lines at their peak organizational vulnerability. The problem of empty trenches is worsened by civilian presence and fragmented supply routes. Garrisons left on key strongpoints are effectively treated as suicide missions.
