🇨🇳💰 China's GDP at the end of 2023 increased by 5.2% year-on-year to $17.698 trillion, which is above the official forecast, data of the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics showed on Wednesday.
"According to preliminary estimates, the gross domestic product (GDP) was 126,058.2 billion yuan [$17.698 trillion] in 2023, an increase of 5.2 percent over the previous year at constant prices," the bureau said in the latest release.

US delegation to touch down in Taiwan 24 hours after regional elections
The delegation will meet with "a range of leading political figures" on Monday and convey congratulations from the American people to Taiwan on the election, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) has said.
Earlier, the Taiwanese Central Election Commission named Lai Ching-te, the candidate from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, the winner of the election after he secured 40.05% of the vote.
Following the results, Moscow called on the international community to work to preserve stability in the region.
"We urge all external forces to refrain from provocative actions that undermine regional stability and international security in the Taiwan Strait amid the regional elections," Zakharova said in a statement.
Lai Ching-te, the ruling DPP candidate of the Taiwan authority, has won the “presidential election” by about seven percentage points over KMT candidate Hou Yu-ih. US and western mainstream media is celebrating this as a victory against China 🇨🇳.
US president Joe Biden had already announced plans to send a bipartisan delegation to the island following the election in the day leading up to votes being cast. This was a stark message that the US already knew that a DPP victory was likely. This is likely to inflame tensions with Beijing.
China won’t take the bait, but another term of separatist rule in Taiwan does open doors for the US to escalate with China political and militarily. The U.S. is a major backer of the DPP, infusing it billions in arms sales. This is a reminder that China remains a top priority of the U.S. war machine, even as it is bogged down elsewhere.

In my last few days in Vietnam 🇻🇳, I’ve been spending time in Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon. It was here that the USA 🇺🇸 was defeated officially on April 30th 1975.
At the War Remnants Museum, there is not only a remarkable account of the history of atrocities committed against the Vietnamese people but also a host of captured war armaments, a strong message that this is now liberated territory.
I couldn’t help but wonder: when Palestine 🇵🇸 is free, will there be a similar museum of US-made weapons captured from the Israeli occupiers? That is surely one I want to go to.
This is all to say that Palestine 🇵🇸 deserves the kind of independence that Vietnam won. And now more than ever, a majority around the world supports this.

China 🇨🇳 sanctions five US companies in response to Washington’s arms sales to Taiwan.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs placed sanctions on five US defense companies on July 7th. BAE Systems Land and Armaments, Alliant Techsystems Operations, AeroVironment, Viasat and Data Link Solutions were among the companies sanctioned.
The ministry noted that "the US arms sales to China's Taiwan region are a blatant violation of the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-US joint communiqués, particularly the August 17 joint communiqué of 1982."
The sanctions come as Taiwan prepares for its presidential election for the authority government on January 13th. The DPP holds a waning lead in the polls and Western observers are hyping "Chinese aggression" as a top election issue. Indeed, China has made clear that any further moves toward separatism backed by the US will be met with proportionate responses that defend China's sovereignty.

This is a video taken by the Vietnam’s🇻🇳 National Liberation Front (NLF) in its successful guerrilla warfare campaign utilizing the Cu Chi tunnels they built beginning during the French colonial period.
These tunnels were 150 miles long, and were critical to the victorious liberation war waged against the French and American invasions.
We often here of Palestine’s 🇵🇸 tunnel system. Oppressed people always fight back, and despite Israel’s 🇮🇱 genocidal rampage, neither history nor victory is ever on the side of the oppressor.

🇨🇳China voted against the UN Security Council Draft Resolution on the 🇵🇸Palestinian-🇮🇱Israeli conflict!
Why?

◾️China is by no means indifferent to the sufferings of the people in Gaza. What China opposes is that the draft resolution selectively avoids referring to the root causes of the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and fails to urge Israel to lift its full siege on Gaza and to rescind the evacuation order for northern Gaza. Such an evasive and ineffectual approach will only accelerate Gaza’s falling into an even greater humanitarian catastrophe.
◾️China is by no means denying Israel's security concerns. On the contrary, China has always strongly advocated that equal attention should be paid to the security concerns and legitimate rights of both Israel and Palestine. What China opposes is that the draft resolution attempts to establish a new narrative on the Palestinian question, ignoring the fact that the Palestinian territory has been occupied for a long time and evading the fundamental issue of independent statehood for the Palestinian people. It is worth being vigilant that the draft departs from the spirit of previous UN resolutions and embeds the dangerous logic of the clash of civilizations and the justification of war and use of force.
◾️China is by no means indifferent to acts that harm civilians. What China opposes is that the draft resolution does not call on the parties concerned to stop the indiscriminate and asymmetrical use of force, nor does it call for a thorough investigation into the heinous attacks such as the one on the Al-Ahli Hospital. Such selective application of international law and double standards will only push more innocent civilians to the brink of death.
In terms of the content, the draft is seriously out of balance and confuses right and wrong.
◾️China is by no means opposing the Council taking action. What China opposes is that the draft resolution is evasive on the most urgent issue of ending the hostility. It has never been able to call for an immediate ceasefire in clear and unambiguous terms. If a Council resolution is ambiguous on the question of war and peace and of life and death, it is not only irresponsible but also extremely dangerous.
In terms of the approach, the draft was introduced in haste and lacked the consensus it deserved.
In terms of the effect, the draft does not reflect the world’s strongest calls for a ceasefire and an end to the fighting, and it does not help resolve the issue.
That's why China vetoed it!
