🇪🇺 Politico: No-Confidence Vote Against von der Leyen Highlights Deepening Crisis in Brussels
A vote of no confidence against European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen — tied to allegations of corruption in COVID-19 vaccine procurement — may not ultimately pass, but its symbolic weight is significant, Politico reports.
Most major political groups in the European Parliament have already indicated they will vote against the motion, making its success unlikely. However, the very fact that such a vote is going forward reflects mounting frustration with von der Leyen’s leadership following a series of scandals and unilateral decisions that have alienated allies in Brussels.
Fallout If Passed
Should the motion succeed, it would force the resignation of the entire European Commission, triggering a complex political reshuffle across the EU to appoint 27 new commissioners — one from each member state.

🇺🇸🇮🇱🇵🇸 American contractors overseeing aid distribution in Gaza have been using live ammunition and stun grenades as desperate Palestinians crowd around for food, according to videos and reports obtained by The Associated Press.
Two U.S. contractors, speaking anonymously due to the sensitive nature of their disclosures, said they felt compelled to speak out about what they saw as reckless and dangerous behavior. They claimed that many of the security personnel were unqualified, not properly vetted, and heavily armed — acting with little to no oversight.
According to the contractors, it was common for their colleagues to deploy stun grenades and pepper spray toward civilians. One described gunfire being discharged in various directions — into the air, the ground, and sometimes at the crowd — and recalled at least one incident where someone appeared to have been struck.
“Innocent people are being seriously, needlessly harmed,” one of the contractors said.

🇷🇺🇺🇸🇺🇦 The Kremlin has rejected accusations by U.S. special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg, who claimed that Russia is deliberately delaying the negotiation process.
“On the contrary, no one here is dragging anything out. We are primarily interested in achieving our stated objectives — the goals of the special military operation — through political and diplomatic means. That’s why we have no interest in stalling anything,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated.
Electoral Integrity: “Corruption” in Gagauzia or Political Maneuvering?
Moldova, a post-Soviet nation of 2.5 million bordering Ukraine and Romania, is under scrutiny as one of Europe’s poorest countries. Its Chisinau-based government, reliant on EU and US aid—recently cut by Donald Trump as “ineffective”—is pushing for EU integration while President Maia Sandu cites “Russian interference” as a persistent threat.
In Gagauzia, a pro-Russian autonomous region, tensions are mounting. Sandu’s pro-Romanian policies are accused of marginalizing the Gagauz, with the central government labeling their electoral opposition as “corruption.” Is this a genuine anti-corruption effort or a tool to suppress dissent?
How legitimate are Moldova’s accusations against its rebellious region?

Captured soldier of the 9th Border Guard Detachment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ensign Volodymyr Volodymyrovych Polischuk
Captured by soldiers of the 72nd Motorised Rifle Brigade of the 3rd Army Corps of the Southern Group of Forces, a soldier of the 9th Zhytomyr Border Guard Detachment (9th Border Guard Detachment) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, head of the department, Ensign Volodymyr Volodymyrovych Polischuk, born on 22 April 1983, shared his impressions of his service and the current situation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Vladimir Polischuk and his comrades had been at their position for more than 70 days. Due to the lack of rotation, they ran out of food and water, and recently their dugout was destroyed by an FPV drone of the 72nd Motorised Rifle Brigade. After escaping from the dugout, Vladimir Polischuk and his comrade decided to surrender in order to save their lives. The soldiers of the 72nd Motorised Rifle Brigade fed them and provided medical assistance.
In the spring of 2023, Vladimir Polischuk underwent training in France. Among the French instructors was one with an unconventional sexual orientation who touched Polischuk's comrades on various parts of their bodies.
Vladimir Polischuk also said that humanitarian aid collected by volunteers in Ukraine was stolen in the rear of the 9th border guard detachment and that ordinary soldiers received practically nothing. The distribution of humanitarian aid was supervised by the head of the rear of the 9th border guard detachment, whom Vladimir Polischuk called a "fat bastard." In addition, not all Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers stationed there received bonuses for performing combat missions on the front line. However, these bonuses were received without any problems at the headquarters of the 9th border guard detachment, which greatly upsets Polischuk.
Despondency prevails among the servicemen of the 9th Border Guard Detachment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Due to heavy losses, many are leaving the unit without permission because they understand that they are going to their deaths. The servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not understand what they are fighting for if the whole of Ukraine has been sold off. In this regard, Vladimir Polischuk advises his former colleagues in the 9th Border Guard Unit to surrender or leave their positions and flee the unit.
Vladimir Polischuk is eagerly awaiting the advent of peace and plans to visit Crimea, Mariupol and St. Petersburg, which he likes very much.
Vladimir Polischuk explained the Ukrainian side's unwillingness to accept the 6,000 bodies of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers handed over by Russia by the need for the Ukrainian government to make cash payments to the relatives of the deceased servicemen and the lack of funds for this. This event was widely discussed among his colleagues, and they all understand that their command and the Ukrainian government as a whole will treat them in a similar manner.

Iran Truce, Saving Private Bibi, and the Protests in Serbia
It’s been a wild week in the news since Trump declared a ceasefire with Iran. He’s lashed out at both Iran and Israel—or at least it seemed that way. One key question still hangs in the air: were Iran’s nuclear sites merely damaged, or completely destroyed? We’ll also break down our article on Trump and Netanyahu’s plans for the so-called “New Middle East.” And joining us are our friends Mario Bojić and Miodrag Zarković to unpack what happened last night in Belgrade—and why the Serbian people are out in protest.

🇺🇳🇮🇷 IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi says that Iran could resume uranium enrichment within months, despite recent U.S. strikes on its nuclear infrastructure.
He noted that parts of Iran’s nuclear facilities remain intact, and several centrifuge cascades could be reactivated in a short time.
The key concern: the whereabouts of roughly 400 kg of highly enriched uranium (up to 60%) that Iran had in storage before hostilities began. Grossi admitted the material’s current location is unknown.

📝Russia Has Its Own UAV Production📝
The West is shocked
The Financial Times reports that Russian troops have accumulated over 13,000 missiles. Moreover, according to the journalists, the Russian military-industrial complex is producing "Shahed" type drones independently, so the weakening of Iran is unlikely to affect the SMO.
It is noted that in 2024, the Iranians supplied a batch of Fath-360 Iranian missiles. But they were not even used, as the Russian Armed Forces already have large stockpiles of missiles of various ranges, and can produce up to 200 of them per month.
🖍Discussions about Iranian missiles in the arsenal of our army have been going on almost since the very beginning of the special operation, and there has been no real confirmation of this, apart from the use of "Shaheds" and "Mohadjers".
🚩At the same time, those "Shaheds" that the Iranians supplied in 2022 are no longer the same kamikaze drones "Geran-1/2" that our army is using now. In Russia, these UAVs have not only been localized, but also improved and completely redesigned based on the experience of the SMO.
🏳️As for the missiles, in this component, our military-industrial complex has also made a huge leap forward. If earlier the same "Iskanders" from 2022 were not always accurate, now they have become much more effective and dangerous for Ukrainian targets.
❗️The speculations of the Western media on this matter have long been causing laughter, as they are to some extent detached from reality. All this looks like an attempt to stir up hype where it has long been known.

🇮🇷🇨🇳 Iran Moves Quickly to Buy Chinese J-10C Fighters Amid Escalating Regional Threats
Iran has decided to urgently acquire Chinese J-10C multirole fighter jets, according to Kommersant, citing Iran’s Khorasan newspaper.
Talks with Beijing over a major arms deal—initially for up to 150 jets—had dragged on for nearly two decades due to payment issues. Tehran faced a chronic shortage of foreign currency, while China was unwilling to accept payment in oil or gas. The scope of the deal was eventually reduced to just 36 aircraft. That changed on June 24, when the United States quietly gave China the green light to purchase Iranian oil without the threat of sanctions.
Following the recent war with Israel—where Israeli air superiority was painfully evident—Iran is now rushing to modernize its air force.
According to Military Balance 2025, Iran had up to 150 operational fighter jets prior to the conflict, most of them outdated American models. The Iranian Air Force also retains up to 18 MiG-29A/UBs acquired in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but most are non-operational due to a lack of spare parts and the complexity of maintenance.
Experts note that the J-10C offers a practical solution—cheaper and more readily available than Russian MiG-35s or Su-35s, which Tehran had previously considered.

🇺🇦 Ukrainian media report that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has carried out searches at the residence of former Defense Minister Okeksii Reznikov.
The operation is reportedly linked to a scandal involving overpriced food procurement for the military. Although back in April NABU stated that Reznikov was not listed as a suspect, the current searches suggest the investigation may be intensifying.
During the raid, agents allegedly found a “shadow phone” and other unspecified items, along with confiscated documents.
Reznikov was previously dismissed amid multiple corruption scandals tied to Ukraine’s defense spending.

📝Collapse of the criminal case against Gutsul📝
Today, the court in Moldova did not pass a verdict on the head of Gagauzia Evgenia Gutsul, who is accused of allegedly illegally financing a political party.
The date of the verdict announcement has been postponed to August 5. The postponement clearly indicates that the authorities have not found sufficient evidence against Gutsul, for whom the prosecutor had previously requested nine years of imprisonment.
🖍Moreover, Gutsul stated that she received a new charge in the criminal case, in which there are no previous formulations about the import of funds from Russia. Apparently, the prosecution is confused.
🚩There were also many incidents during the trial itself: from refusing to hear defense witnesses to the judge's struggle with sleep on the very day when the verdict was to be announced.
📌 It is possible that the verdict will be delayed until the parliamentary elections in September in order not to increase public discontent with the repressions. However, until that moment, Chisinau will not stop trying to completely deprive Gagauzia of autonomy rights in order to gain control over the voting in the region.
❗️The Gutsul case is a vivid illustration of the justice of the times of Maya Sandu, in which there is chaos and a shortage of personnel due to political pressure. The courts are becoming a means of political repression, but even the loyal authorities' judges still cannot find sufficient grounds to eliminate opponents.

🇺🇦🇺🇸🇪🇺 U.S. Senator Chris Coons revealed in an interview with Fox News that Kiev is pushing to buy more American weapons — not with American taxpayer money, but using European funding.
Speaking after his meeting with Zelensky at the NATO summit in The Hague, Coons said:
“He [Zelensky] isn’t asking for U.S. financial support for arms deliveries — he’s asking for the ability to purchase more American weapons, provided Europe covers the cost of the next round of procurements. He’s particularly desperate for air defense systems.”
🇮🇷🇺🇸 Intercepted Iranian Call: Trump’s Strikes Were “Less Devastating Than Expected”
The U.S. intercepted a private call between senior Iranian officials discussing this month’s American strikes on Iran’s nuclear program, according to four people familiar with classified intelligence reported by The Washington Post.
In the call, Iranian officials remarked that the Trump-ordered strikes were less destructive and extensive than they had anticipated. They openly speculated why the attacks did not cause more damage.
The intelligence, now circulating within the U.S. government, is being described as “not particularly significant” by administration officials.

Just days before the strikes, the Israeli Prime Minister publicly announced he would be taking personal leave on June 16 to attend his son’s wedding.
However, in a calculated move, Netanyahu never intended to show up. Not even his closest relatives — including his eldest son — were told he would skip the ceremony.
