“We will,” said Vieira. “We are working on it, and you will have this good news very soon. We have made enormous efforts to call for negotiations. The latest developments in the war have led us to decide to join South Africa at the International Court.”

📝 Last week, in a new petition to the ICJ, South Africa accused Israel of escalating the conflict in Gaza and initiating “a new and horrific phase.” The document cites indiscriminate attacks, victims standing in line for food, and children killed while searching for water.

❗️ Brazil will act as a third party in the case that accuses Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. According to Brazil’s Foreign Ministry, the Israeli government “makes it clear that it will continue to disregard diplomacy, doing whatever it wants against Palestinian civilians,” a diplomat told the press.
