🇷🇺🇷🇺❌🇦🇿 — As tensions between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Russian Federation continue to rise, with no sign of improvement or de-escalation, Russian nationalists are completely angry with the Caucasian country, calling for the complete destruction of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia.

🇷🇺 In Statement, following the arrest of Russian Journalists in Baku, the Tsargrad Society said:

The Azerbaijani authorities have arrested a number of Russian journalists. At the moment, 10 people have been detained, including the director of the Sputnik Azerbaijan news agency Igor Kartavykh and the agency's employee Yevgeny Belousov. They are accused of "espionage for the FSB."

Video footage published by the Azerbaijani side shows that at least some of the detainees were beaten.

The media field of the Transcaucasian republic is full of Russophobic rhetoric. Baku's unfriendly actions were a response to the raid of Russian law enforcement agencies in Yekaterinburg against criminal representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Urals. A total of 9 people were arrested, two of whom - brothers Ziyaddin and Guseyn Safarov - died of a heart attack during their arrest.

The suspects are charged with two murders and one attempted murder, both committed against fellow tribesmen - Azerbaijanis. The detainees are also accused of mass methanol poisoning in 2021 - 44 people fell victim to low-quality alcohol sold by the diaspora. Official Baku saw the actions of law enforcement officers as pressure on Azerbaijanis based on their nationality.

Azerbaijan's hysteria is due to the fact that the diaspora is considered by its authorities as an agent of influence. Former President Heydar Aliyev, the father of the current head of state, spoke about this directly, speaking in 1995 to compatriots living in Switzerland:

"[During the leadership of the Azerbaijan SSR] I tried to ensure that Azerbaijanis, especially young people, lived not only in Azerbaijan, but also in other cities, republics of the Soviet Union, settled, spread there. There are still many Azerbaijanis in our country. Let there be an Azerbaijani diaspora, a lobby everywhere. Maybe you don’t know this, but at that time I even received permission from Moscow to settle, spread Azerbaijani youth in all corners of the Soviet Union, 800-900 young people a year went to get an education in other places - in institutes, universities in Moscow, Leningrad, Sverdlovsk and other cities. I created such conditions so that there would be no difficulties for Azerbaijani youth to enter those universities, since many would not be able to pass the exams there due to lack of knowledge of the Russian language, and many, after passing the exams, could not pass the competition." Moreover, being in the diaspora should a priori exclude the possibility of naturalization.

"Sometimes there were those who, having lived in Russia for 20-30 years at that time, having forgotten that they were Azerbaijanis, having forgotten their religion, assimilated there. Of course, this does not suit us," Heydar Aliyev emphasized.

In addition to putting pressure on ethnic criminal groups in our cities, the Azerbaijani authorities are unhappy with the close rapprochement between Iran and Russia. There is reason to believe that during the recent conflict between Israel and Iran, Baku provided not only its airspace, but also airfields for attacks on Iranian territory. A jettisonable fuel tank from an Israeli fighter jet was found on the coast of Ramsar, a city in northern Iran in the Mazandaran province on the Caspian Sea. Another one was found nearby.

In the case of the arrests in Yekaterinburg, Azerbaijan is interfering in the internal affairs of our country, because those arrested are Russian citizens.

The Azerbaijani diaspora, closely connected with the Transcaucasian republic, should be recognized as a foreign agent. It fully falls under this definition.
