❗️A "significant" fire has broken out at one of Australia's two currently operational oil refineries, with residents in parts of Geelong told to stay indoors due to smoke.

The Geelong refinery can process up to 120,000 barrels of oil a day, including "manufacturing petrol, diesel, LPG, jet fuel, avgas and Low Aromatic Fuel".

It is one of two facilities in Australia, the other being in Brisbane, that can refine fuel domestically.

❗️Following formal talks in Brunei’s Royal Palace, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has signed a joint statement with the country’s sultan, similar to a document on fuel security struck with Singapore’s leader last week.

Australia imports nine per cent of its diesel, 11 per cent of its crude oil and 11 per cent of its fertiliser-grade urea from the tiny sultanate.

PS. Brunei's Diesel is also refined from imported Russian crude oil. Albanese can sign as many fancy agreements as he likes but it won't change the fact that ultimately Australia still uses Russian oil!
