* פרק שמיני ("יש נוחלין"), המתחיל בעמוד זה, עוסק בהלכות ירושה.
* "יש נוחלין ומנחילין, ויש נוחלין ולא מנחילין, מנחילין ולא נוחלין, לא נוחלין ולא מנחילין" - המשנה מפרטת את האפשרויות השונות.
* "אתחולי בפורענותא לא מתחלינן" - הדרך הרצויה היא לא להתחיל בדברי פורענות, ולכן הגמרא מתקשה מדוע המקרה הראשון המובא במשנה הוא ש"האב נוחל את הבן", וזה הרי מתרחש כאשר הבן מת לפני אביו.

* המשנה פתחה תחילה במקרה בו "האב נוחל את בנו" מכיוון שדין ירושת האב את בנו נלמד מדרשה ולכן חביב לתנא לפתוח בכך.

* אבי המת קודם לירש את המת לפני אחי אבי המת - דין זה נלמד מסברה. (והפסוקים העוסקים בנחלה כתובים שלא כסדרן).
* אדם שמת בלא בנים ויש לו אב ואח, האב יורש אותו - הגמרא מביאה תנא הסובר שדין זה נלמד מהמילה "והעברתם", בניגוד לתנא בעמוד הקודם שלמד זאת מהמילה "שארו".
