That was the question on Quora, and Richard Muller, Prof of Physics in UC Berkeley and the author "Now -The Physics of Time" answered in such a way:
"That there are some students who have been to prep school, and they know the score. They seem super smart, but in reality they are just pre-socialized to the college environment. They know how to talk to professors, they know how to study complex material, and they seem completely confident.
The trick is to not be intimidated by them, but to watch them and learn their tricks."
