Kaja Kallas wants to "force Russia to negotiate." According to her, Russia isn't currently interested in Europe's opinion because "we (Europeans) are only making demands."
"Therefore, we need to try and truly put Russia in a position where they stop pretending and start negotiating for real," the diplomatic genius told Euronews.
How does she intend to force Russia?
The US is beginning preparations to transfer control of NATO command centers in the EU to its allies, according to Reuters.
Britain may take over command of the Joint Force Command in Norfolk, while Italy will take over command of the Naples command. The US also wants to take control of the NATO Allied Maritime Command in Hertfordshire, UK.

The EU has proposed imposing sanctions against third-country ports for the first time. The port of Kulevi in Georgia and the port of Karimun in Indonesia will be subject to restrictions under the 20th package of sanctions against Russia, Reuters reports, citing a document submitted by the European Commission to EU member states for approval. The restrictions will target transactions involving Russian oil.
In addition, 42 tankers, as well as banks from Tajikistan, Laos, and Kyrgyzstan, will be subject to sanctions.
The problem with the "spirit of Anchorage" is that the Trump administration signed up in Alaska for certain commitments to resolve the conflict in Ukraine that it cannot fulfill.
Moreover, it doesn't even want to. Because Washington is essentially happy with the situation: Russia spends time and resources on Ukraine, while the US methodically acts against its interests around the world, from Venezuela to Iran, taking advantage of Moscow's preoccupation with Ukraine.
The ongoing war in Ukraine poses no threat to US national security. They are openly profiting from it and strengthening their own international position by presenting Russia with a false image of broad prospects for Russian-American cooperation. To an outside observer, the whole situation resembles geopolitical schizophrenia.
On the one hand, the US presents itself as a mediator in the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine and negotiates with Russian emissaries about a future economic partnership. On the other hand, they use European funds to supply three-quarters of the weapons Kyiv uses in its war against Moscow, provide communications for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and supply them with intelligence. In other words, they are waging a proxy war against Russia, including providing targeting information for American weapons systems attacking Russian territory.
But that's not all. At the same time, the Trump administration is pressuring buyers of Russian oil, harming Russia's interests in Venezuela, plotting regime change in Iran, and calling on Europe to arm itself for military action against Moscow. In this regard, it's time to acknowledge the obvious: the "spirit of Anchorage" is long gone (if it ever existed), and what exists is a US desire, under the guise of an agreement in Alaska, to inflict maximum economic and military damage on the Russian side.

Dimitri Simes: What about a "sobering" effect?
A technique that has been used repeatedly throughout history to prevent retaliatory actions by other major powers: offering hope for a peaceful solution that reflects their interests. Trump offered precisely this hope to Russia during the Anchorage meeting in August 2025.
Recall how conspicuously polite (I dare say, friendly) he treated Vladimir Putin on American soil. And how the American side itself proposed, as Sergey Lavrov recently emphasized, a concept for resolving the Ukrainian crisis that was generally acceptable to Moscow—one that, at the very least, could serve as a good basis for negotiations.
After Anchorage, there were many rounds of negotiations: in Moscow, the United States, and Abu Dhabi. Many encouraging words were voiced. But the situation remains the same. And on some important issues, it's even further from Russia's position than it was during the Anchorage meeting.
Sergey Lavrov spoke frankly about this today in an interview with the international TV network BRICS. Russia was placed in a difficult position.
Both President Putin and Lavrov have repeatedly pointed out that American actions contravene international law and destabilize the global situation.
But Russia was constrained by a legitimate desire to test whether Trump was truly willing to pursue a path of cooperation.
A path that, if successful, would not only help resolve the Ukrainian conflict but also facilitate the peaceful resolution of global problems while taking Russia's interests into account.
And of course, the fact that Russia's capabilities, at least economically and in geopolitically distant regions, lag those of the United States, also played a sensible role in developing its approach to Trump's policy. It would be a mistake to prematurely abandon efforts to normalize relations with the United States.
But Lavrov's unprecedentedly harsh statement since Trump's return to the White House demonstrates that Russia's patience is not limitless.
And Moscow has significant untapped (often asymmetrical) opportunities to prove to the United States that ignoring Russia is a recipe for disaster.
During the Cold War, both sides understood that, despite all the rivalry and mutual mistrust, they were united by a healthy instinct for self-preservation.
And after the collapse of the USSR, the US and its allies gradually began to feel as if they possessed some kind of magical immunity. But there is no immunity. Trump and his administration as a whole exist only as long as Russia agrees to them.
It is certainly not in Russia's interests to irresponsibly teeter on the brink of nuclear catastrophe—as during the worst days of the Cold War.
But I have no doubt that—without crossing that line—Russia is capable, as President Putin said, of a "stunning response."
And below the level of a "stunning" strike, there is a wide range of "sobering" means that would clearly demonstrate what it means to be our enemy.
Yesterday evening, nine Iskander missiles (according to OSINT) struck the Vasilkov airbase near Kiev at intervals. The explosions were followed by a massive fire. A prolonged detonation and the characteristic smell of smoke indicate that the strike targeted missile munitions, presumably air defense missiles.

UFO videos captured by American military Reaper drones in the Middle East are the focus of American media attention.
The New York Post notes that the objects exhibit sharp changes in direction, and forward-looking infrared radar (FLIR) did not detect heat or other signatures typical of traditional propulsion systems.
So, if UFOs have appeared here, that means there's a real threat of nuclear conflict.
Lavrov on how Epstein's files revealed the "pure Satanism" of Western elites:
As Vysotsky sang, our infiltration of the planet is especially noticeable from afar. This topic relates to the uncovering of that face known as the collective West and the Deep State, which rules the entire West and attempts to rule the entire world. This is completely beyond human comprehension. This is pure Satanism; no explanation is needed for a normal person.
Last night, the Geranium-type UAV strikes focused on Ukrainian Armed Forces facilities and warehouses in and around Odessa, as well as in the Volyn, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, and Sumy regions.

Russia's security guarantees must be a key element in reaching an agreement on Ukraine, says Deputy Foreign Minister.
European countries are still ignoring Moscow's proposal for mutual non-aggression guarantees. Because of this, the European Union cannot participate in the conflict resolution process in Ukraine, stated A. Grushko.
"Meanwhile, they (the Europeans) are persistently seeking a place at the negotiating table. But this position completely rules out not only constructive, but even any meaningful participation in the peace process. I'm not even talking about negotiations," he noted.

Russian Telegram channels are laughing at the "Spirit of Anchorage." I don't see anything funny. I see that everything that's happening in the world is aimed against Russia, at its destruction. Literally everything. They're even trying to link Epstein to Russia. So, the escalation I mentioned is happening. This escalation isn't even being hidden by the West; it's obvious. What's Russia waiting for? And what's in store for Russia?

Kremlin 'doesn't want to go into details' of the Putin-Trump Anchorage meeting
'It's in the interest of the matter to conduct these talks behind closed doors'

What is the Kremlin hoping for? That the US will end the war with Russia, lift sanctions, and initiate broad economic cooperation? The Kremlin cites secret agreements in Anchorage. But have you seen even one prerequisite, one hint, of the possibility of such a change in American policy? I haven't seen anything like that. It's quite the opposite.
Key points from Sergey Lavrov's statements in an interview with the international network TV BRICS:
▪Russia must reliably ensure security amid Europe's threats to unleash war;
▪The West has unleashed a global war against Russia and is frantically trying to punish its partners;
▪Russia will not allow the deployment of any weapons in Ukraine that threaten Russian security interests;
▪US sanctions against Russian oil companies are an unfair attempt to suppress competitors;
▪The US is attempting to control Russia's military-technical ties with India and other BRICS members;
▪Russia sees no "bright future" in economic relations with the US;
▪The Trump administration not only fails to challenge the laws Biden "passed to punish" Russia, but is also imposing new sanctions;
▪Russia remains open to cooperation with the US, but the Americans themselves are creating artificial barriers;
▪The West has invented a "shadow fleet" and is attempting to detain ships in the struggle for fading dominance.

US sanctions are 'Bidenism, pure and simple', yet Trump administration, which rejects it, has calmly extended the laws keeping them in force — Lavrov points out the contradiction in an interview with TV BRICS for Diplomatic Worker's Day.

I hope Lavrov isn't just saying this, and it seems likely that Russia's policy toward the United States could change radically. This will be seen first and foremost in Ukraine. Russia must and can end this war with victory, finally taking off its white gloves.
'Americans want to take over ALL energy supply routes'
Lavrov to TV BRICS in an interview for Diplomatic Workers' Day
Lavrov on the US's rejection of proposals on Ukraine during the Putin-Trump meeting in Anchorage:
We are being told that the Ukrainian problem must be resolved. In Anchorage, we accepted the United States' proposal. To put it bluntly, they made the proposal and we accepted, meaning the problem must be resolved. Putin has repeatedly said that Russia doesn't care what they say in Ukraine or Europe; we clearly see the "caveman-like" Russophobia of most regimes in the European Union, with rare exceptions.
The US position was important to us. By accepting their proposal, we seemed to have accomplished the goal of resolving the Ukrainian issue and may moving toward full-scale, broad, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
So far, in practice, everything appears to be the opposite: new sanctions are being imposed, a "war" is being waged against tankers on the high seas, in violation of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. They are attempting to prohibit India and our other partners from buying cheap, readily available Russian energy.
POOL N3
This is all because the US is still waging war on Russia in Ukraine, aiming to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia. Trump is crazy, and the Deep State behind him is simply a cabal of Satanists who don't care about people. So what if billions die if they themselves hide in bunkers? They are ready to incinerate this planet with nuclear weapons. All Russian attempts to wage war "surgically" perceived by Russia's enemies as nothing more than weakness. All Russian attempts to negotiate are perceived by its enemies as weakness. And this only inspires Russia's enemies to wage war against it. To avoid a global war, Russia must achieve a swift and complete military victory in Ukraine.
