Official statement from the Russian Investigative Committee:
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is investigating a criminal case regarding an attack on Lieutenant General of the Russian Ministry of Defense Vladimir Alekseev.
The identity of the perpetrator, who left Russia several hours after the crime and flew to the United Arab Emirates, has been established. He is Lyubomir Korba, born in 1960, a native of the Ternopil Oblast of the Ukrainian SSR and now a Russian citizen. Following measures taken by FSB and Ministry of Internal Affairs operatives, investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee, and competent authorities in the United Arab Emirates, the suspect has been detained and returned to the Russian Federation. It has been established that Korba arrived in Moscow in late December of last year on instructions from Ukrainian special services to commit the terrorist attack.
Investigative actions and operational searches are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and identify the perpetrators.

On February 6, 2026, in a residential building on Volokolamskoye Highway, the attacker fired at least three shots and fled. The victim was hospitalized.
A Makarov pistol with a silencer and three rounds of ammunition were found at the scene; more than 15 forensic examinations have been ordered.
Accomplice Viktor Vasin was detained in the Moscow region and charged under Articles 317 and 222 of the Russian Criminal Code.
Zinaida Serebritskaya, who fled to Ukraine, was implicated.
The perpetrator, Lyubomir Korba (born 1960), left the Russian Federation and flew to the UAE. He was detained and returned to Russia with the assistance of competent authorities.
