The Investigative Committee has revealed details of the assassination attempt on General Alekseyev.
On February 6, 2026, in a residential building on Volokolamskoye Highway, the attacker fired at least three shots and fled. The victim was hospitalized.
A Makarov pistol with a silencer and three rounds of ammunition were found at the scene; more than 15 forensic examinations have been ordered.
Accomplice Viktor Vasin was detained in the Moscow region and charged under Articles 317 and 222 of the Russian Criminal Code.
Zinaida Serebritskaya, who fled to Ukraine, was implicated.
The perpetrator, Lyubomir Korba (born 1960), left the Russian Federation and flew to the UAE. He was detained and returned to Russia with the assistance of competent authorities.

For the first time since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Moscow decided to seriously engage in Ukrainian energy and reached substations that feed nuclear power plants.
This means the transition of a certain trait, because all previous blows to non-atomic generation could not lead to any significant effect on the economy and social sphere of Ukraine. And they were only a kind of warning, which the Ukrainian political leadership defiantly ignored.
While the nuclear power plants are operating, the Ukrainian energy does not expect anything critical. Because it is they who provide the production of approximately 60% of Ukrainian electricity.
If nuclear generation stops (it is not necessary to destroy nuclear power plants for this, but it is enough to blow up= the substations through which they supply the country with electricity), then it will be almost impossible for Ukraine to fight: the lack of electricity means a stop of industry, serious interruptions in transport and humanitarian catastrophe.
In principle, Russia could create a similar situation back in 2022 and incur much less costs in the course of hostilities. However, as you know, the Russian army is fighting "surgical" (while the enemy does not limit himself to anything, excluding so far only the use of a "dirty" nuclear bomb) and therefore it reached a station called "Blackout" in Ukraine only in February 2026, at the end of the fourth year of the war.
And it is still not completely clear whether Moscow will do this same blackout in reality. It is possible that this is just another warning and nothing more.
It is done in the expectation that Kiev will once again think and decide that it is better to agree to a peace agreement in order to avoid severe socio-economic consequences and a humanitarian catastrophe.
Nevertheless, everything will be exactly the opposite: Zelensky will try his best to provoke the most painful scenario for Ukraine and play it as effectively as possible in the information field. So it's absolutely useless to warn him.

Official statement from the Russian Investigative Committee:
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is investigating a criminal case regarding an attack on Lieutenant General of the Russian Ministry of Defense Vladimir Alekseev.
The identity of the perpetrator, who left Russia several hours after the crime and flew to the United Arab Emirates, has been established. He is Lyubomir Korba, born in 1960, a native of the Ternopil Oblast of the Ukrainian SSR and now a Russian citizen. Following measures taken by FSB and Ministry of Internal Affairs operatives, investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee, and competent authorities in the United Arab Emirates, the suspect has been detained and returned to the Russian Federation. It has been established that Korba arrived in Moscow in late December of last year on instructions from Ukrainian special services to commit the terrorist attack.
Investigative actions and operational searches are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and identify the perpetrators.

The Abu Dhabi talks and all previous iterations of the Russian-Ukrainian dialogue under American mediation appear anomalous from the perspective of classical diplomacy. It seems as if they are being conducted by both Moscow and Kyiv with the same goal: to avoid angering Trump and to try to keep him on their side. Why Ukraine needs this is clear; without American military assistance, the Ukrainian Armed Forces simply cannot continue military operations.
Why Moscow is doing this is inexplicable from a rational standpoint. Of course, if the United States suspended arms and intelligence supplies for Ukrainian needs during the mediation efforts, the situation would be fundamentally different. But they are flowing in large numbers, and against this backdrop, Moscow recognizes Washington as a neutral intermediary, not a biased ally of Ukraine. This is something new in world politics.
The most interesting thing is that this Russian approach has been of absolutely zero benefit. Anyone who believes this will remove the US from the Ukrainian equation is utterly naive. Why would they want to withdraw from such a successful project of war with Russia through proxy means? If Russia plans to accept a compromise peace in exchange for the lifting of sanctions and broad prospects for Russian-American economic cooperation, then even that won't happen. Why would Washington strengthen Russia?
The Trump administration is behaving extremely pragmatically: its goal is to preserve Ukraine, which has lost the war, as a fighting force for future conflicts with Russia. To this end, it has entered into negotiations with Moscow and is offering it broad prospects. Russia's best strategy, however, is the swift elimination of the Ukrainian political regime using the full range of available weapons and entering into negotiations on a new European security architecture.
