The Sunday Times today published an alarmist editorial about how "time is running out for Europe." The newspaper, in typical fashion, calls for a "united front against Putin" and warns that if America withdraws, Europe will face an unequal battle with Russia.
It would seem logical to conclude from this: let's now negotiate with Russia to avoid direct confrontation. But no, the exact opposite conclusion is reached: "The only way to maintain the status quo in Ukraine is through the presence of European troops and massive investment in military equipment." This year, the Russian Armed Forces formed five divisions, 13 brigades, and 30 regiments, Belousov stated.
Next year, the Russian Armed Forces plan to form four divisions, 14 brigades, and 39 regiments.
Putin on Europe preparing for war with Russia:
Today, we see that the global geopolitical situation remains tense, and in some regions, is becoming downright critical. NATO countries are actively building up and modernizing their offensive forces. They are developing and deploying new types of weapons, including in outer space. Meanwhile, people in Europe are being brainwashed with fears about an inevitable clash with Russia, saying they need to prepare for a major war.
Various figures who supposedly held or still hold positions of responsibility seem to have simply forgotten their responsibility. They are guided by short-term personal or group political interests, not the interests of their people. And they are increasingly raising the level of hysteria. The US is preparing new sanctions against Russia if Moscow rejects a peace deal with Ukraine, according to Bloomberg.
Washington is considering a new package of sanctions against Russia's energy sector to increase pressure on Moscow if President Vladimir Putin rejects a potential peace agreement with Ukraine, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
According to them, the measures could affect vessels in the so-called "shadow fleet" of Russian tankers used to export oil, as well as the traders facilitating these deliveries.

NYT: The US-European peace plan calls for strengthening the Ukrainian Armed Forces, deploying European forces to Ukraine, and making greater use of American intelligence.
The top priority is reportedly increasing the size of the Ukrainian armed forces to 800,000. This, the newspaper writes, "will serve as a powerful deterrent to Russia."
An unnamed European diplomat stated that the document lists "very specific" details about the military equipment Kiev needs. He did not elaborate.
It also details a European-led force that will assist Ukraine, "ensuring security in the air and at sea," the text states.
