‘It would be a safe path to a civil war’ – Majority of Germans against an AfD ban
New polling shows that Germans are firmly against a ban of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), with one historian even warning in the wake of the results that a ban of the AfD would lead to a civil war.
The poll, which was conducted by the prestigious Allensbach Institute for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, is sure to come as a shock for the liberal wing of the German elite promoting a ban of the party.
It shows that 52% of Germans are against a ban of the AfD, while only 27% are in favor. Among East Germans, two-thirds are opposed to a ban, while in the West, 49% are opposed to a ban.
There are now even warnings that a ban could lead to a civil war, and not from an AfD politician.
CDU member and historian Andreas Rödder told Euronews that an AfD ban represents a serious threat.
“A ban procedure that leads to the loss of all votes for the AfD and thus to red-red-green parliamentary majorities across the board would be the sure path to civil war,” he warned.

Buried in Trump’s beautiful bill is a new $250 fee on travelers to the U.S.
Visitors to the United States will need to pay a new fee to enter the country, according to the Trump administration’s recently enacted bill.
A provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act states all visitors who need nonimmigrant visas to enter the U.S.—tourists, business travelers and international students, to name a few—must pay a “visa integrity fee,” currently priced at $250. The fee cannot be waived or reduced, but travelers are able to get their fees reimbursed, the provision states.
All told, the Congressional Budget Office estimates the new fee could cut the federal deficit by $28.9 billion over the next ten years. During the same period, the CBO expects the Department of the State to issue about 120 million nonimmigrant visas.
In 2023 alone, more than 10.4 million nonimmigrants were issued visas, according to DOS data. CBO expects a “small number” of people will seek reimbursement, as many nonimmigrant visas are valid for several years.
CBO also expects the Department of State would need several years to implement a process for providing reimbursements. Still, the fee could generate billions, the agency estimates.

Trump is losing 75% of federal cases challenging his executive actions
President Trump has tamed Congress and largely defanged the federal bureaucracy as he pursues his vigorous second-term agenda, but federal district judges have rushed to the battlements to take him on. As Mr. Trump crosses the six-month mark in office, he has faced at least 500 lawsuits challenging his executive actions, or a rate of four lawsuits for every business day since Jan. 20.
District judges have made substantive rulings in more than half of those cases, and the results have been grim for Mr. Trump. According to The Washington Times’ Trump litigation tracker, judges have ruled against the president’s position 75% of the time.
About 50 of those cases were part of the administration’s ill-fated effort to boot some foreign students over irregularities in their immigration and criminal records. Mr. Trump lost roughly 90% of those cases.
Still, district judges ruled against the government, either by issuing injunctions or otherwise delaying Mr. Trump’s agenda, a stunning 70% of the time.
Leading the opposition are judges appointed by Presidents Obama and Biden, who have ruled against Mr. Trump’s positions more than 125 times. That works out to more than 80% of the cases on which they have ruled so far.

East German State requires new citizens to recognise Israel’s right to exist
The East German state of Brandenburg has changed the rules for naturalisation procedures.
On July 17, interior minister René Wilke announced in the State’s parliament in Potsdam that his administration now required candidates for citizenship to acknowledge the right of Israel to exist as a necessity in receiving a German passport.
The new rules had already been introduced quietly as of June 1. Wilke said the requirement was an expression of Brandenburg’s solidarity with Israel. He said that it did not mean “that everything that any head of government in Israel has ever done and will ever do will also receive solidarity and approval”.

Gen Z is returning to religion
In the past, the younger generation tended to rebel against the religious norms of their parents. Young people’s resistance to the rules and institutions of religion was assumed and expected.
But that’s not the case anymore. According to a recent article from Axios, members of Gen Z—which includes young people born between 1997 and 2012—are actually more likely to go to weekly religious services than millennials and young Gen Xers. According to some reports, church attendance has quadrupled amongst Gen Zers in recent years.
America witnessed a steady decline in Christianity from the 1970s through the 1990s, with only about 46% of Americans born in the ’90s identifying as Christian. Yet that falling trend has abruptly halted, likely due to a surge in religiosity amongst young Americans, particularly young men.
Some Catholic dioceses, for instance, have reported a 70% increase in converts this year compared to last, and many of these new converts are people in their teens and twenties. The winds have changed.
The question is, why? (Full story)

James Carville says democrat party has become ‘a cracked-out clown car’
Democratic strategist James Carville said in a new opinion piece for The New York Times that the current Democratic Party is “a cracked-out clown car.”
“Constipated. Leaderless. Confused. A cracked-out clown car. Divided. These are the words I hear my fellow Democrats using to describe our party as of late. The truth is they’re not wrong: The Democratic Party is in shambles,” Carville said in the Times piece released Monday.
Carville pointed to the recent clinching of the Democratic nomination for New York City mayor by Zohran Mamdani, which shocked many political observers, saying it “wasn’t an isolated event.”
“It represents an undeniable fissure in our political soul. We are divided along generational lines: Candidates like Mr. Mamdani are impatient for an economic future that folks my age are skeptical can be delivered,” Carville added.

Rahm Emanuel breaks with democrats, says men cannot become women
Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel broke with the Democratic Party regarding views on transgenderism, admitting that men could not become women.
During an interview on Megyn Kelly’s podcast, the Megyn Kelly Show, Emanuel, who served as the United States ambassador to Japan under former President Joe Biden, admitted that boys and girls are “fundamentally, physically different.” During the interview, Kelly asked Emanuel if he believed boys should be allowed to compete in girls’ sports, if he thought minors “should be able to be put on puberty blockers” and cross-sex hormones, and if men were able to “become” women.
“Can a man become a woman?” Kelly asked. “Can a man become a woman?” Emanuel repeated. “Uh, not … no.” Kelly responded by thanking Emanuel for his response and asking him why “more” people in the Democratic Party do not “just say that.” “Because I’m now going to go into a witness protection plan,” Emanuel joked.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has also seemingly broken with Democrats, stating that forcing women to compete against male athletes is “deeply unfair.” Newsom recently embarked on a “two-day tour of South Carolina,” which was described as a “strong signal” that the California governor is considering launching a run for president in 2028.

Peak population: When it’ll hit the world’s largest countries
The global population is entering an era of divergence. Half a century of explosive growth—driven by better access to food and healthcare—is starting to slow, but not in the same way.
Some nations are shrinking, while others have decades of expansion ahead.
The infographic maps out when the 40 most-populous countries in 2025 will reach their population ceiling—and whether that ceiling is even within this century.
The U.S. is one of only three top-10 countries with no population peak forecast before 2100.
UN demographers see its population climbing past 420 million by 2100, buoyed by inward migration that offsets sub-replacement fertility.
By contrast, fellow rich-world nations like Italy and Spain have already peaked, and France is projected to crest before 2050.

70 now under indictment in Minnesota COVID food fraud scheme
As we learn more and more about the infamous $250 million "Feeding our Future" fraud scheme in Minnesota, the worse it gets. However, the fraudsters are being held accountable. FBI Director Kash Patel indicated that no fewer than 70 suspects are under indictment in this massive rip-off.
A $250 million fraud scheme that exploited a federally funded children's nutrition program during the COVID-19 pandemic has been described by FBI Director Kash Patel as "one of the worst" in Minnesota history.
The FBI director told Fox News in a statement that 70 people in Minnesota have been indicted for their role in the sprawling "Feeding our Future" fraud scheme during the COVID-19 pandemic, which exploited a federal program designed to reimburse states for the cost of feeding children.
Conspirators falsely claimed to have served millions of meals during the pandemic, but instead used the money for personal gain. Of the individuals indicted, 38 have pleaded guilty, FBI officials told Fox News Digital. More than a dozen of the individuals are awaiting criminal trial, with the next trial beginning in August.

The deep state is in real trouble now?
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard just lit a fuse under the deep state—and it’s about time.
Gabbard dropped a stunning accusation: that Barack Obama personally directed a “treasonous conspiracy” to undermine Donald Trump’s presidency before it even began. And now, according to Gabbard, the floodgates are opening—whistleblowers who were sickened by what they witnessed are starting to come forward.
According to Gabbard, Obama and his inner circle simply refused to accept the outcome of the 2016 election. Instead of stepping aside and respecting the will of the people, they weaponized the intelligence community and pushed a phony Russia narrative to kneecap Trump before he even took office.
“So, creating this piece of manufactured intelligence that claims Russia had helped Donald Trump get elected contradicted every other assessment… that said exactly the opposite—that Russia neither had the intent nor the capability to ‘hack’ the United States election.”
Now, the truth is starting to catch up with them. And if there’s any justice left in Washington, the days of these Deep-State plotters skating by unpunished may finally be numbered.

What is Hunter Biden’s endgame after that crazy interview? Here are five possibilities
This left many people wondering what the point was behind all of this. Why would Hunter Biden do such a crazy sit-down with a journalist? What’s the endgame? Here are five possible reasons behind the interview:
1. Hunter is planning to run for office. It’s entirely possible that Hunter Biden is planning to run for some type of political office.
2. Hunter is putting himself out there to make Democrats pay him to go away. This is entirely possible. No one is lining up to buy Hunter Biden’s paintings now that his family has no more influence to sell.
3. Hunter wants a job in media. Was this Hunter Biden’s way of showing the producers at MSNBC that he can be as completely crazy as the rest of their on-air hosts?
4. Hunter wants his own reality TV show. This would make perfect sense. Can’t you imagine a format where a camera just follows Hunter Biden around the country to various seedy locations where he gets wasted and does crazy things with D-list celebrities, consuming crazy amounts of drugs and alcohol along the way? People might actually tune in to watch that show.
5. Hunter Biden is just crazy.
Whatever the reason, odds are that Hunter will not be giving a primetime speech at the next Democrat National Convention. The man is a loose cannon and seems utterly off balance.
What do you think? 🤔

Musk's X denies French allegations of algorithm manipulation
Elon Musk's X on Monday accused French prosecutors of launching a "politically-motivated criminal investigation" that threatens its users' free speech, denying all allegations against it and saying it would not cooperate with the probe.
Earlier this month, Paris prosecutors stepped up a preliminary probe into the social media platform for suspected algorithmic bias and fraudulent data extraction. Police can now conduct searches, wiretaps and surveillance against Musk and X executives, or summon them to testify. If they do not comply, a judge could issue an arrest warrant.
"Based on what we know so far, X believes that this investigation is distorting French law in order to serve a political agenda and, ultimately, restrict free speech," X posted on its Global Government Affairs account.
As a result, X said it had refused Paris prosecutors' request for "access to X's recommendation algorithm and real-time data ... as we have a legal right to do."
Musk, a former ally of US President Donald Trump, has accused European governments of attacking free speech and has voiced support for some of the region's far-right parties.

Cheaper flights in sight as German government plans to cut ‘green’ air tax
Flying looks set to get cheaper next year Germany, after the government announced it was pushing ahead with plans to reduce taxes on air fares.
German government wants to reduce air traffic tax in 2026.
Introduced in 2011 to reduce the number of flights and therefore emissions, the air traffic tax was significantly hiked in 2024 under the traffic light coalition government. Now, the CDU-led Ministry of Transport is planning to reverse the increase in the 2026 budget, Bild reports, making good on a promise enshrined in the CDU-SPD coalition agreement.
"The increase in the air traffic tax must be reversed, and the fees at German airports must also be reduced,” the federal government’s Tourism Coordinator, Christoph Ploß, told Bild. “Otherwise, there will soon be even fewer flight connections at German airports than is currently the case."
This is significant when it comes to keeping Germany well-connected and competitive: Lufthansa has recently been forced to scrap multiple domestic flight connections due to unprofitability, while other airlines are reducing their services from German airports.

Big bank note highlights accelerating global de-dollarization
Some of the world’s big financial players are starting to take notice of the de-dollarization trend.
In a recent note, JPMorgan Chase highlighted the de-dollarization trend, pointing out that dollar reserves have dipped to a 2-decade low below 60%. Total holdings of dollar-denominated securities by central banks (excluding the Federal Reserve) fell by $59 billion in 2024.
As of the end of last year, dollars made up 57.8% of global reserves. That is the lowest level since 1994, representing a 7.3% decline in the last decade. In 2002, dollars accounted for about 72% of total reserves.
The JPMorgan note said the waning dependence on the U.S. dollar in trade is being reflected in the gold market as central banks pile up gold. The note pointed out that emerging market central bank gold holdings remain relatively low at 9%, but gold reserves have more than doubled from 4% 10 years ago.
The main de-dollarization trend in FX reserves, however, pertains to the growing demand for gold. The note highlighted the increased gold holdings by “competitor economies," including China, Russia, and Turkey.
The big bank also highlighted signs of de-dollarization in the bond market, noting that foreign holdings of U.S. debt have dropped continuously for 15 years. In early 2025, foreign Treasury holdings plunged to 30%, down from 50% during the Great Recession.

California's minimum wage hike cost 18,000 fast-food jobs as employment ticked up in other states
The law transferred wealth from workers who lost their jobs to those who didn’t.
The law was certainly impactful: A working paper recently published by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) found that the law increased wages in California's fast food sector by 8% relative to the rest of the country. But not all of the consequences of the law were intended or positive for workers.
The NBER paper also found that California's fast food employment decreased by 2.64% from September 2023 (when Newsom signed the bill into law) to September 2024, while fast food employment elsewhere in the U.S. increased by 0.10% over this same period.
The paper's economists estimate that the law caused "a loss of 18,000 jobs that would have otherwise existed in the absence of the policy." This finding is particularly striking considering employment trends in California and the rest of the United States.

Orbán: 20% of EU’s new 7-year budget would go to Ukraine, 10-12% goes to debt repayments
The European Commission’s seven-year budget is already facing backlash, with Ursula von der Leyen’s request for €2 trillion from member states being slapped down by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and other leaders.
One of the main voices against the budget is Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who says it is designed to bring Ukraine into the EU as a member and hand Kyiv billions of euros.
“If we look only at financial aspects, we should see that in addition to the 20-25% of budget resources allocated to Ukraine, 10-12% of previously taken out loans go to loan repayments,” said Orbán in an interview with Kossuth Radio’s “Good Morning, Hungary” program.
Adding up money to Ukraine and debt repayments, 30% of the budget goes to areas that were not included in the previous seven-year budget, said the Hungarian prime minister.
“That’s why everyone in the European Union is shouting,” he added.

Is there enough water to quench the thirst of AI super data centers?
While AI reshapes the way America does business, the number of data centers being built to meet its expanding computational demands has kicked off a construction boom. Millions of gallons of water are needed for cooling these new data centers, a demand that has risen in lockstep with the expansion of AI support facilities.
Hyperscale data centers are large facilities used by cloud service providers and internet companies, demanding huge amounts of electricity and sometimes spanning millions of square feet. Non-hyperscale data centers—also known as co-location data centers—are facilities where equipment, space, and bandwidth are rented to either wholesale or retail customers.
On average, non-hyperscale facilities use roughly 6.57 million gallons of water per year. By comparison, hyperscale centers—the kind required to power AI—use an estimated 200 million gallons per year.
In areas like the outskirts of Las Vegas, where land is relatively affordable, several large data centers are planned or under construction. These facilities will require substantial energy and water for cooling. Conventional large-scale data centers can consume up to 5 million gallons of water per day, equivalent to the daily water use of a town with 20,000 to 50,000 residents.
This factor is a key driver of concern for people such as Lehmann, who’s watching data center expansion occur in a highly water-stressed portion of southern Nevada. Despite being America’s driest state, the Silver State is experiencing massive growth in data centers.

Trump orders US exit from UNESCO, reversing Biden-era reentry
President Trump is pulling the US out of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), citing its anti-America and anti-Israel leanings as well as its woke agenda, The Post has learned.
Trump ordered a 90-day review of America’s presence in UNESCO back in February, with special emphasis on probing any “anti-Semitism or anti-Israel sentiment within the organization.”
Upon conducting the review, administration officials took issue with UNESCO’s diversity, equity and inclusion policies as well as its pro-Palestinian and pro-China bias.
This marks the third time the United States has withdrawn from the Paris-based agency, and the second time under President Donald Trump. The United States last withdrew from UNESCO in 2017 during Trump’s first term, citing anti-Israel bias. It rejoined in 2023 under President Joe Biden, who argued the move was necessary to counter China’s growing influence in the organization.

Obama’s ODNI scuttled intelligence briefing to preserve Russia-collusion hoax
Internal emails released last Friday by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard reveal that after former President Barack Obama ordered an intelligence assessment of Russia’s election influence, a top official in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence scuttled the release of an already-completed intelligence report that concluded Russian had not hacked the 2016 presidential election.
Gabbard released newly declassified documents, including scores of emails related to a 7-page draft President’s Daily Brief or PDB. That draft PDB, dated December 8, 2016, concluded, “Russian and criminal actors did not impact recent US election results by conducting malicious cyber activities against election infrastructure.” But hours before the planned publication of the PDB, the ODNI’s deputy director pulled the report, purportedly due to “some new guidance.”
The stench is even worse when you consider that, following President Obama’s December 9, 2016, meeting, corrupt members of the intelligence community immediately began feeding their partners in the press fake intel that Russia interfered in the presidential contest to help Donald Trump. Thanks to Director Ratcliffe, we know that isn’t true and that the intelligence community under Obama’s lead manipulated the ICA.

Most US Abrams tanks in Ukraine now lost, captured, or abandoned
When the United States delivered 31 M1A1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine in September 2023, the move was heralded as a potential turning point in Kyiv’s fight against Russia, with President Volodymyr Zelensky calling them a “game changer.”
The Abrams, a symbol of American armored dominance, have dominated second- and third-tier militaries like Iraq’s in the 1991 Gulf War, where superior tactics and training, combined with the Abram’s advanced armor and fire control systems, allowed U.S forces to utterly dominate Iraqi armored forces.
Yet, since their arrival in Ukraine, these “wonder weapons” have faltered badly. By July 2025, at least 22 of the tanks were destroyed, damaged, abandoned, or captured. Some estimates place this number as high as 27. This outcome, far from shocking, was predictable, as expectations based on triumphs over weaker foes like Iraq were wildly unrealistic.

Shipping line suspends EV cargo due to lithium battery fire concerns
Matson surprised customers this week with an announcement that, effective immediately, it would suspend transporting battery-powered electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles due to the hazardous material classification of their lithium-ion batteries. The ability to ship cars between the mainland of the United States, Hawaii, Guam, and Alaska was an important service both for individuals and car dealers.
In a letter sent to customers, the company writes, “Due to increasing concern for the safety of transporting vehicles powered by large lithium-ion batteries, Matson is suspending acceptance of used or new electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles for transport aboard its vessels. Effective immediately, we have ceased accepting new bookings for these shipments to/from all trades.”
Reports are citing the recent fire aboard the Morning Midas off the Aleutians and the loss of the vessel, which was carrying EVs and hybrids.
Matson continues to transport conventional cars. It offers the service both trans-ocean and also moves the containers interisland in Hawaii as part of its barge service.

Former dems strategist torches Obama over tone-deaf message to liberals
Former President Barack Obama is tired of seeing his party getting walloped and constantly getting stuck in the mud as it searches to find itself again amid a second Trump presidency. Democrats lack a message or agenda that’s appealing—the party’s approval rating is at a dismal 19%.

Epstein roils Washington from beyond the grave
The ghost of Jeffrey Epstein has returned to haunt President Trump and the Republican Party.
The Trump administration was forced to reopen the Epstein case, the House ground to a halt to avoid voting on Epstein bills and Republican lawmakers made plans to subpoena Epstein’s madam.
Democrats say Mr. Trump’s name will appear in the sordid documents, even though the two men ended their friendship nearly two decades ago. The vote would be a political nightmare for Republican lawmakers, much to the delight of Democrats, even though they never asked the Biden administration to release the Epstein files.
“The American people deserve to know the full extent of who was involved with Epstein, and all of them must be held accountable — no matter how powerful,” former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, said Tuesday.
Mr. Trump and congressional Republicans moved to quell intense anger within their party about the Epstein files.
The Trump administration responded to the president’s angry base by asking a federal judge to unseal thousands of documents and material related to the FBI investigation and the grand jury probe into Epstein and his girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, who helped procure girls for him.

Wartime protests in Ukraine target Zelensky for the first time
Thousands of people gathered in the streets of Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine, on Tuesday night to protest moves by President Volodymyr Zelensky’s government to weaken anticorruption institutions, in the country’s first major antigovernment demonstration in three and a half years of war.
On Tuesday Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, passed a controversial bill that effectively removes the independence of the national anti-corruption bureau, known as Nabu, and the specialised anti-corruption prosecutor’s office.
It gives sweeping new powers to Ukraine’s prosecutor general and makes it easier for the government to control which cases are pursued. Critics say the legislation allows political interference and is a major step backwards in the fight against corruption.
The move on Tuesday has put the president on a collision course with civil society activists and some of Ukraine’s veterans, and is likely to dismay Ukraine’s European partners.
