Why be scared if you can be educated? Your dot is on blockchain. Blockchain is open software, so anyone can run it thru different apps, sites, wallets. There is no big problem to use dot chain if you in need of use it just now. That's a beaty of blockchain and beauty of Trust Wallet which is non custodial.
Only thing that this teach us all, as users, that If you own crypto you must be self reliable as far as you can.
Study chain which you use to stack your assets on, study multiple software around it, so in case of anything "not working" "for now" will be same as i went to shed to get another shovel, as this one is not suited for this type of soil/work.
