This is fucking FIRE research. Insanely slept on research. I am FLABBERGASTED.
Notepad++ compromised (long pedantic version so nerds shut up)
- Notepad++ update infrastructure was compromised
- Notepad++ suspects it is the Chinese government
- No evidence provided currently demonstrating why they suspect it was the Chinese government
- Only "select targets" were delivered malicious Notepad++ from update infrastructure
- No information is provided who "select targets" were
- No information provided why they believe it was selective
- No information on what was delivered to "selective targets"
- Compromise timeline blurry
- "Incident began" JUNE, 2025
- Hosting infrastructure says "September 2, 2025"
- Attackers maintained access until "December 2nd, 2025"
- Notepad++ states they believe compromise was JUNE THROUGH DECEMBER, conflicting with hosting provider
- No analysis released yet on "exact technical mechanism"
- No IoCs (Indicator of compromise) released

Microsoft has acknowledged growing dissatisfaction with Windows 11, citing persistent bugs, performance problems, intrusive advertising, and underwhelming AI features. In response, the company has shifted its strategy to prioritize foundational improvements. Microsoft now employs an internal approach called “swarming,” which redirects resources toward resolving core system issues to restore user trust.
Pavan Davuluri, Head of Windows and Devices, confirmed this strategic pivot, emphasizing Microsoft’s commitment to addressing consistent user feedback. The company aims to enhance system performance, reliability, and overall user experience. Recent efforts have reduced driver instability and occurrences of the “blue screen of death.” However, significant challenges remain, including File Explorer performance and suboptimal gaming performance compared to Linux. Microsoft also plans to refine the dark theme and modernize long-neglected operating system components.

MediaTek DA2 exploit: heapb8
After weeks of reverse engineering and countless hours of debugging, shomy and I finally cracked the DA2 V6 exploit everyone's been talking about!
We decided to call it heapb8 ("heapbait"), because Chimera baited us into chasing the wrong vulnerability for way too long.

You first look at Trump Phone T1
Verge executives spoke to Don Hendrickson and Eric Thomas, two of the three executives that run Trump Mobile, giving us our first ever look at the Trump Mobile T1.
It is not a final production model, but apparently it’s a close prototype. The final model will not have the 'T1' logo but the American flag at the bottom will remain, as will the signature gold finish.
Talking about the specs, it is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen series and will include 50MP selfie & triple rear camera including Telephoto lens, 512GB storage, 5000mAh battery & 1TB MicroSD card support.
Trump Mobile executive -- Thomas claims that it will be comparable to “any phone that’s over $1,000.” People who paid a $100 deposit already will still pay $499 total, but they’re now calling that an “introductory price.” Later buyers will pay more, though “less than $1,000”
According to Verge, the T1 Phone won’t be made in the USA. Instead, the handsets go through “final assembly” in Miami, though Thomas is careful not to say too much about what that means. The two executives promise that a Trump Mobile “relaunch” is coming, and that within “the next couple of weeks” the website will be updated with images of the final phone, along with its spec sheet

NVIDIA claims the January Windows update KB5074109 is the likely cause of significant gaming performance issues on systems with NVIDIA graphics hardware. Users report frame rate reductions of up to 20 frames per second and various graphical anomalies. NVIDIA confirmed that the problems do not stem from its graphics drivers and that uninstalling the update is a workaround. The company continues to investigate the matter actively.
Affected users may uninstall KB5074109 through the Windows Update page in Settings and temporarily pause further updates until Microsoft releases a permanent fix.
The January updates caused troubles for both Microsoft and its users. The Redmond firm continues addressing a bunch of issues, including the shutdown bug, Remote Desktop interruption, and unbootable devices. At the same time, Microsoft is working on reducing the AI push and rebuilding user trust in Windows 🤣
Firefox 148, scheduled for release on February 24, introduces the earlier promised option to disable the AI stuff in the app. For that, there is now the browser.preferences.aiControls parameter in about:config. This setting enables a dedicated interface section where users can disable all artificial intelligence functionalities at once or manage them individually. Available features for selective control include language translation, text recognition in images and scanned PDF documents, tab grouping recommendations and labels, link preview summaries, and chatbot interfaces. Each function supports three states: enabled, disabled, or blocked. Blocking a feature removes locally stored AI models and conceals related interface elements.
Nightly builds destined for Firefox 149, expected on March 24, activate Split View mode by default. This mode displays two tabs simultaneously within one window. Users access it via a context menu option after enabling the browser.tabs.splitView.enabled parameter in earlier versions. The interface permits resizing both panes by dragging the divider, with the active tab highlighted by a red border.
Additionally, nightly builds make the standalone search box show the tips you using see in the address bar when start typing.
Finally, testing has started for the Tab Notes feature, which allows users to attach custom text notes directly to individual browser tabs.

RIP Adobe Animate
Adobe will be discontinuing Adobe Animate on March 1, 2026. However, you can still continue to use it as an existing user but technical support will no longer be available after March 1, 2027.
Also, the access to your Animate files and project data will end on March 1, 2027.
So please export your Animate FLA and XFL files to other formats such as SWF, SVG, and MP4 files before this date.
If you don't know, Adobe Animate was used to animate famous cartoons like Teen Titans Go!, Smiling Friends, My Little Pony, El Tigre and many more.

It turns out Notepad++ was compromised at the infrastructure level and if you downloaded or updated Notepad++ after September, 2025 or before December, 2025, an unknown state-sponsored actor has compromised your machine.

Microsoft reevaluates its artificial intelligence strategy for Windows 11 following user criticism. The company reviews Copilot integrations in built-in applications such as Notepad and Paint, and pauses development of additional Copilot buttons across inbox apps. Microsoft considers removing certain integrations or rebranding them to create a more streamlined experience. The Recall feature, initially delayed in 2024 due to security and privacy concerns, now undergoes reassessment as the company deems its current implementation unsuccessful. Microsoft explores evolving the concept rather than discarding it entirely.
So, Microsoft is on the way of moving away from aggressive AI push toward more purposeful integration that will finally be useful for everyone. Core AI infrastructure projects, including Semantic Search, Agentic Workspace, Windows ML, and Windows AI APIs, continue development as planned. Microsoft maintains these under-the-hood capabilities remain essential for developers and for competitive positioning among operating systems adopting artificial intelligence frameworks.
