Samsung finally shows off Gorilla Armor on the Galaxy S24 Ultra
After more than 2 months of launching the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung finally made a video explaining the Corning Gorilla Armor Glass used in the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
For more than 50 years, Samsung and Corning have collaborated to develop innovative display materials that provide superior durability & clarity.
Gorilla Glass Armor's superior anti-reflective properties are achieved through an extremely precise layering process that also includes a durable layer that protects against micro-scratches.
The result is a 75% reduced glare & Gorilla Armor being four times more scratch-resistant than competing aluminosilicate protective glass.
Now, Apple is also working with Corning for the outer glass on the iPhone 17 series which is set to have a "super-hard anti-reflective layer" that is "more scratch-resistant than you think."
"Ceramic Shield" is a marketing name for a glass-ceramic material developed by Corning with Apple

This is a crazy story. An XDA forum user decided to take ASUS to small claims court in the UK (via Android Authority) over the company's shuttering of its bootloader unlock tool, and they allegedly settled by refunding the user for their purchase of the Zenfone 10.
I still think ASUS makes great smartphones and that ZenUI is a really good fork of Android that power users will enjoy, but I can't deny that the company's silence on the bootloader unlock tool is hurting them. An ASUS rep told me last August that they weren't killing off their bootloader unlocking tool, but it's been almost 8 months since then, so I can see why many people don't believe that.
I personally only bootloader unlock devices to test them, so that doesn't factor into my recommendations, but I know that there are some people (mostly power users) who care.
and i thought "nothing phone 2a pro" was a bad name, look at the future lineup of nothing ear:
nothing ear (1) -> nothing ear (2) -> nothing ear (stick) -> nothing ear + nothing ear (a)
Poco F6 Rear Look

Did Google Tease The Pixel 8a 👀
A Google Fi Wireless ad that seemingly shows the Pixel 8a front and center.
It's likely the Pixel 8a and NOT the regular Pixel 8 because the Porcelain phone doesn't have the mic hole in the same spot as the Pixel 8 (between the cameras and the LED).
The Leaked live images of the Pixel 8a don't show a microphone either on the camera module confirming that it is indeed the Pixel 8a

• 6.1-inch FHD+ Resolution OLED Display
• 120Hz refresh rate (upgrade from 90Hz on 7a)
• 1400nits Peak brightness
• Metal Frame
• Google Tensor G3 SoC
• LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB/ 256GB UFS 3.1 storage
• In-display Fingerprint Scanner
• 4500mAh battery with 27W Fast Charging
8a will use WCN6856 Qualcomm Wi-fi chip (the same used in Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1)
SAME Cameras as the Pixel 7a:
• 64MP main (IMX 787, OIS) + 13MP UltraWide (IMX 712)
• 13MP Front camera (IMX 712)

Nothing will release Two More Smartphones This Year
Nothing Phone 2a has already been released as its first phone of 2024.
Now, Carl Pei will release two more smartphones this year
One of them is codenamed "Pacman Pro"
Since the Phone 2a is codenamed "Pacman", so this indicates that the Pro variant of Phone 2a is incoming
The other one is codenamed "Tetris", which is likely the Nothing Phone 3
Nothing Phone 3 will likely be powered by Snapdragon 8s Gen 3
Well if you remember, Carl Pei said that he "won't churn out dozens of products a year like many others." when someone asked him about the Phone 2 release, 6 months after Phone 1 was released
But now, Carl Pei is releasing 3 phones in just 1 year which was previously just 1 smartphone per year
As usual another fake hype, just to make Nothing Fans cope over him

Samsung Exynos 2500 will use Google's TPU for AI acceleration
Source
Samsung Exynos 2500 or the "Dream Chip' will leverage 3 strategic partnerships:
• ARM for custom CPU
• AMD for custom GPU
• Google for custom AI TPU
With the Exynos 2200 to Exynos 2400, Samsung developed & kept using its own Neural Processor (NPU) and Digital Signal Processor (DSP)
But it didn't boost the Android ML Layer, or Google Mobile Service (GMS) System App Services.
Thus, using Google's TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) in the Exynos 2500 will give access to the Google Machine Learning APIs that can run models on the device.
After One UI 6.1, the software will then run better with Galaxy AI Model & Android Machine Learning Interface to interact with "Galaxy AI Devices".
To run smoother and faster, TPU will engage when the Google ML API code is detected on the app.
Galaxy S25 Ultra would 'likely' feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for Galaxy chipset

Samsung x ESA presents The Galaxy Time
ESA (European Space Agency) has teamed up with Samsung to launch the World's FIRST watch face for our Solar System — The Galaxy Time for the Galaxy Watches
Not only can you tell the time on Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, but you can see their exact positions and distances thanks to real-time data from ESA.
Of course, the Galaxy Time tells you the time on Earth, too.
Each planet has its own dial that shows time running faster or slower relative to our 24-hour system.
In addition, the watch face provides extra information such as distances from Earth or the Sun to neighboring planets, how many moons they have, and their planetary seasons and exact positions in the solar system.
Samsung says Galaxy Time is compatible with every Galaxy Watch running Wear OS, which means the Galaxy Watch 4 series or newer
You can Download it from the PlayStore:

If you don’t like the battery level, you can turn it OFF as well
In addition to these new icons, Android 15 may also add a bit of haptic feedback to the Quick Settings panel when doing a long press on a QS tile such as Bluetooth while its getting expanded
Android 15 will also add some haptic feedback to the volume slider that appears when you press either volume key.

Google agrees to destroy browsing data collected in Incognito mode
The proposed settlement in Brown v. Google will mandate greater disclosure from the company about how it collects information in Incognito mode and put limits on future data collection. If approved by a California federal judge, the settlement could apply to 136 million Google users. The 2020 lawsuit was brought by Google account holders who accused the company of illegally tracking their behavior through the private browsing feature.
The proposal is valued at $5 billion, according to Monday’s court filing, calculated by determining the value of data Google has stored and would be forced to destroy and the data it would be prevented from collecting. Google would need to address data collected in private browsing mode in December 2023 and earlier. Any data that is not outright deleted must be de-identified.
Google spokesperson José Castañeda said:
Pleased to settle this lawsuit, which we always believed was meritless. We never associate data with users when they use Incognito mode. We are happy to delete old technical data that was never associated with an individual and was never used for any form of personalization.
Google acquired Mozilla Firefox
Google just announced today that it has acquired Mozilla Firefox, the popular web browser known for its emphasis on privacy and open-source principles.
As of 2021, Mozilla (including both the foundation and the corporation) had total assets exceeding $1.1 billion USD
As of August 2023, Firefox holds the rank of the world’s 4th-leading browser.
Google notes that it has acquired Mozilla for $1.69 Billion USD. While Google's Chrome browser has long dominated the market, Firefox has maintained a loyal user base due to its focus on user privacy and customisation options.
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, said "We are excited to welcome Mozilla Firefox into the Google family. We believe that by combining our resources and expertise, we can deliver even greater value to users around the world."

Apple Updates App Store Guidelines to allow Game Emulators and External Site Links for Music Apps in the EU
After the EU Commission fined Apple $2 billion and announced that it’s NOT satisfied with the changes the company made to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), Apple on Friday updated the App Store guidelines again.
For the FIRST time, Apple is allowing developers to create and distribute game emulators on the App Store.
“Additionally, Retro games console emulator apps can offer to download games,”.
Apple has confirmed the introduction of new “Music Streaming Services Entitlements” for apps distributed in the European Union with the latest update to its App Review Guidelines.
Music streaming apps “in specific regions” can now include a link (such as a “buy” button) to an external website. They can also invite users to provide their email address to receive a link to buy digital music or services via the developer’s website.

Apple is Exploring Home Robotics after cancelling The Apple Car project
Source
Apple has CONFIRMED that it laid off MORE THAN 700 employees after dumping the Apple Watch MicroLED Display Project & 10 Billion$ Apple Car Project
The car project would feature 'SafetyOS' but it was cancelled amid concerns about its direction & cost.
The display program was shuttered due to engineering, supplier & cost challenges.
Now, Apple has teams investigating personal robotics
Engineers are exploring a mobile robot that can follow users around their homes
Apple has also developed an advanced table-top home device that uses robotics to move a display around
The idea was to have the display mimic the head movements like nodding, of a person on a FaceTime session.
It would also precisely lock on to a single person in a crowd during a video call.
Apple is also working on:
• Touch-screen Macs
• AirPods with built-in cameras
• Non-invasive blood sugar monitor

Samsung is developing Custom CPU Cores
Apple A-series chips for iPhones and Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and newer flagship chips, both feature chips based on ARM instruction SET but not the ARM Cortex cores
Samsung is also developing its own CPU cores based on ARM instruction SET, thus ditching the ARM cortex cores in the future with the upcoming Exynos processors for its smartphones
The Xclipse GPU will obviously be based on AMD GPU only and Exynos will also leverage Google's TPU for AI Acceleration
We will also be having Xiaomi coming with their own SoC thus ditching Snapdragon and MediaTek chipsets in 2025/2026
Google Tensor chips design won't be entirely Exynos-based and will be manufactured by TSMC in the future
Interesting competition ahead

iPhone SE 4 will have Display Panels from BOE instead of Samsung Display
Apple is developing the iPhone SE (4th generation) and it is scheduled to release in 2025.
iPhone SE 4 will feature the same display used in iPhone 14 and thus it will have a "notch" as well along with a 60Hz refresh rate and NO dynamic island either in 2025
Three companies, BOE, Samsung Display, and Tianma are in a bid to supply display panels for the iPhone SE 4.
Samsung Display had proposed the lowest price for a panel, USD 30, while the BOE quoted USD 35 and Tianma, quoted USD 40 respectively.
However, Apple was NOT willing to pay more than USD 20 per unit.
Now, it has been reported that Apple has partnered with BOE to source display panels for the iPhone SE 4. BOE will supply each panel for USD 25.
Tianma product quality has NOT yet met Apple's requirements.
Samsung Display has withdrawn from the negotiations due to issues related to the price.

BREAKING: Apple Sued Xiaomi in China
Apple has filed a lawsuit against Xiaomi in China.
The lawsuit, filed in a federal court, accuses Xiaomi of lying to its consumers about the technology it uses in their smartphones
1. FAKE ISP chips:
Xiaomi claims that its flagship smartphones like the Xiaomi 12S Ultra & Xiaomi 14 Ultra use Xiaomi Surge ISP chips
However, Apple has found out that it is NOT any ISP chip and is just a post-processing chip
Xiaomi uses Qualcomm SoC's ISP only but markets it as an ISP to increase its sales & thus lying to its customers
2. NO USB Certification
Apple claims that Xiaomi USB-C chargers and USB-C ports are NOT USB-certified
They are just PD/PPS compatible
Apple also asserts that Xiaomi's custom user interface closely resembles iOS, with SAME iconography, gestures & overall user experience.
Apple has also accused Xiaomi of infringing on patented technologies related to camera enhancements & facial recognition systems
The entire complaint spans 69 pages
