🔄 Microsoft has detailed changes to the Windows Insider Program intended to reduce confusion and improve transparency. After one‑on‑one meetings and social interactions with Insiders, the Windows Insider team identified two pain points: a confusing channel structure and unpredictable feature availability due to gradual roll-outs.

The program now has two main channels: Experimental and Beta.

* Experimental, which replaces Dev and Canary, delivers the earliest builds for active development and community feedback; features there may change or be dropped.
* Beta showcases features planned for public release in the coming weeks and will abandon phased rollouts - if a Beta build includes a feature, it will be available to all who install it, though minor UI variants may be tested.

Insiders will also be able to select Windows kernel versions (for example, 25H2 or 26H1). Experimental gains a "Future Platforms" option for the earliest, release‑agnostic previews.

Release Preview remains for enterprise and those seeking near‑final builds.

To address roll-out unpredictability, Experimental users will get a "Feature Flags" page in Settings to enable or disable visible features; less visible fixes may not appear.

Switching channels or exiting the program no longer usually requires a full reinstall because in‑place upgrades will preserve apps and settings, except when leaving the Future Platforms Experimental builds. The new Insider page aims to make channel selection faster and easier. Microsoft will roll out these changes in the coming weeks and will map existing channels to the new ones without changing installed Windows versions.

After the hwmonitor app being found infected with the virus and containing a Russian installer while being hosted on the official CPU-ID page, the CPU-Z latest version 2.19 is also infected with virus

Microsoft Windows Defender also flags it and the Virus Total confirmed the threat too.

Apparently, the CPUID website has been hacked to direct users to download their malware version from a different server. The original programs on the legit server are still clean.

Microsoft has started removing Copilot from Windows 11

After their "Our commitment to Windows quality" announcement, Microsoft has started by cleaning up Notepad and Snipping tool.

In Notepad v11.2512.28.0, AI tools still exist, but now they are just called "Writing tools" instead of Copilot. The Copilot logo has been replaced with a pen icon. In settings, Writing Tools is now placed under "Advanced Features" instead of "AI Features". So, it's just a simple rebranding.

However, AI has now been completely removed from Snipping tool

Popular XiaomiTime website is renaming itself to XimiTime due to legal threats by Xiaomi for trademark infringement.

Furthermore, the meme company alleges that XiaomiTime is using phishing/scam techniques against consumers by using the public image of Xiaomi in order to earn consumers' trust and more easily scam them. So, this is an alleged criminal behavior that is considered fraud 🤦

WARNING! HWMonitor 1.63 Download on the official "cpuid" page is a Virus!!!

While trying to update the hwmonitor app, a redditor found out that the app redirected to a suspicious file named HWiNFO_Monitor_Setup.exe that launched a Russian installer.

Windows Defender flagged it immediately, and a VirusTotal scan (https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/eefc0f986dd3ea376a4a54f80ce0dc3e6491165aefdd7d5d6005da3892ce248f) confirmed the threat.

Although, the app redirected to the official CPUID page to download the latest update, but the web page link is compromised. You can bypass the trap by manually editing the download URL from the old version (https://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/hwmonitor_1.62.exe) to the new one (https://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/hwmonitor_1.63.exe).

Microsoft makes the Edge browser open every time you start Windows 11. When you open the browser, a banner appears at the top stating that the app "now launches when you sign in to Windows, so you're ready to go whenever you want to surf the web." This feature is enabled by default. If you ignore the banner and don't click "No, thanks," the Edge window will greet you every time you start your computer. Luckily, you can disable this feature in Microsoft Edge's settings.

This feature is currently being tested in the beta version of the browser. and is currently available to a limited number of users. If feedback is negative, Microsoft may abandon the idea before the release. This experiment is not mentioned in the official changelog.
