More Clarification About The New Rules For Sideloading Apps in Android

1. ADB installs are not affected.
The waiting period does not apply to app installs via ADB.

2. No need to keep Developer Options ON
Once you change your phone's settings to allow apps to be installed from unregistered apps, you can turn OFF developer mode and download / update as normal. You don't have to keep developer options on to use this feature

3. 24hrs wait is a one-time process.
The one-day wait time is to change system settings which you have to do only once. After the settings take effect, you can install apps from anywhere you choose just as today.

Mozilla will add a built-in VPN to Firefox 149, scheduled for release on March 24, 2026. The service, named Firefox VPN, will route traffic through proxy servers in multiple countries, hiding users’ IP addresses. Firefox will offer 50 gigabytes of free traffic per month for the new VPN. During the initial rollout, users in the United States, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom will receive access. Don't be confused with Mozilla VPN, which is a different service.


It will also enable Split View by default, allowing users to view two tabs side by side within one window. Additional changes include a new mascot, Kit, visible in dialogs and notifications, Tab Notes for attaching notes to tabs, the renamed Smart Window chatbot, a session history section in developer tools, dark mode in the profiler, and testing of a redesigned settings interface in nightly builds in April.

Qualcomm starts restricting Linux support on Snapdragon laptops

In May 2024, Qualcomm said Snapdragon X Elite would continue its Linux upstreaming work, and outside coverage at the time pointed to a roadmap that still included camera, video, GPU support, suspend and resume, firmware distribution, and simpler distro installs.

However, Qualcomm has closed GitHub issue for open-sourcing Snapdragon X DSP headers with the message that there are “no plans to open source DSP headers as of now.” This does not stop Linux from booting on Snapdragon X laptops, but it does close off route toward proper upstream-friendly support.

This may help explain why TUXEDO canceled its Snapdragon X1 Elite Linux laptop after more than 18 months. The company said the chip was less suitable for Linux than expected, citing problems with BIOS updates, fan control, KVM virtualization, USB4, video decoding, and battery life.

* Windows 11 will get back taskbar placement options, including vertical and top positions, to improve personalization.
* Microsoft will reduce Copilot entry points in apps such as Snipping Tool, Photos, Widgets, and Notepad, focusing AI integration where it proves useful.
* Skip and disable updates: Users will gain greater control over updates, including skipping installations during device setup, restarting or shutting down without installing updates, pausing updates longer, and fewer automatic reboots and notifications.
* Faster File Explorer: it will start faster, flicker less, offer smoother navigation, and show improved stability.
* Widgets will become less distracting through new default settings and a more personalized Discover feed.

2. Confirm you aren't being coached:
A quick check to make sure that no one is talking you into turning off your security as scammers often pressure victims into disabling protections.

3. Restart your phone & reauthenticate:
This cuts off any remote access or active phone calls a scammer might be using to watch what you’re doing.

4. Come back after the protective waiting period and verify:
There is a one-time, one-day wait & then you can confirm that this is really you who’s making this change with our biometric authentication or device PIN. Scammers rely on manufactured urgency, so this breaks their spell.

5. Install apps:
Once you confirm you understand the risks, you’re all set to install apps from unverified developers, with the option of enabling for 7 days or indefinitely. For safety, you’ll still see a warning that the app is from an unverified developer, but you can just tap “Install Anyway.”
