🙏 The Pains Of Self Hosting
One of my favorite self-hosted project management tools (Vikunja) just shifted from a self-hosted Git repository to Github (ew Microsoft!!! 🤮). They detail a lot of the issues they were facing, mainly a horde of internet zombie bots from AI companies and cybercriminals.

We run dozens of internal self-hosted tool at Above (literally no third parties unless we can't run something ourselves) and ironically there's been a bit of struggle with Vikunja for our internal project management.
No, we're not overrun or brigaded by bots (thankfully none of our systems are public) but that sometimes sticking to your principles can make your progress slow. Its like playing on hard mode difficulty.
The developer of Vikunja (Kolante) does a really good job discussing the nuance of why you'd want to use a third party service instead of self-hosting everything.
I'm going to do everything in my power to stick to our principles and only host software on our own servers. This requires a ton of maintenance and upkeep - but its worth it. What do you think?

Wow - thanks everyone for your feedback on coffee yesterday. Definitely a lot of different knowledgable opinions. My takeaway was that although its okay to have a little every once in a while, its not going to become a habit or crutch. My morning routine usually gets me in a good flow anyways:
- Wake up, use a Neti Pot to clean the nasal passages
- Go outside and get sunlight
- 10 - 30 minutes of pranayama (ever since I started doing this I don't get respiratory sickness anymore)
- Feel into the body and make a warming or cooling drink depending on the situation. I quite enjoy herbal teas.

The Opposite of Love Is Fear
Just wanted to drop a quick note on my Palestine post yesterday. Aside from the obvious astro-turfing accounts trying to pressure this channel into silence it was also interesting to see people calling for hate.
The neo-nazi culture being promoted in "freedom/truth" movements isn't a surprise to me - its yet another psy-op that a lot of people are falling for.
They don't realize by hating an entire group of people they're validating all of the censorship / surveillance / and targeting of people based on 'hate' speech.
And they are also hurting themselves. If you desire destruction to counter destruction, you'll receive it. But probably in the form of a chronic illness.
I pray for those suffering in Gaza, and I pray that those causing it have a moment of self-awareness and change their ways. We are all one human race.

🙏 10 Rules For Cell Phone Use Published By The Vienna Medical Association
Its EMR awareness month! Are you using your tech safely?
Austria is one of a handful of countries on earth that recognize Electro-Hypersensitivity (EHS) as a real condition meaning they have a way to diagnose and even treat it.
Here are 10 rules for cell phone use they recommend (translated from German):
1. In principle, make as few and as short calls as possible!
2. Children and adolescents under the age of 16 should preferably not make a phone call!
3. Never keep the mobile phone close to your head during the call setup!
4. Do not use the phone in vehicles (car, bus, train – the radiation is higher)!
5. When sending SMS, the mobile phone generally as far as possible keep away from the body!
6. When talking on the phone, always a few meters away from others - they will be irradiated!
7. Never put mobile phones in your pocket – the radiation can Impair fertility in men!
8. Always turn off mobile phones at night and never store them near your head!
9. No playing games via mobile!
10. Headsets are also questionable – the cable conducts the radiation! Also wireless LAN or UMTS lead to a high radiation exposure!

Tracking transaction over time leads to movement patterns, although the record can’t provide precise accuracy—instead they resort to general movements within the range of 25 miles.
This is sometimes difficult for law enforcement to analyze, which is why they need to rely on forensics for suspects.

My last interview with Corbett brought out a few blackpilled people in the comments.
These people believe that:
- most if not all devices are completely compromised with hardware backdoors
- theres no such thing as privacy on the internet
- you can't escape from digital surveillance
I'm always going to keep fighting for our right to privacy and freedom when it comes to our technology, and this topic got me thinking.
For one, I think most people are fine simply by opting out of the consensual surveillance layers like big tech phones, devices, and social media. All software level stuff. These are the lazy ways we give away all of our data in mass.
Hardware backdoors are plausible but theres no evidence on their use in the wild. We don't know how easy it is to deploy, or if its feasible on a mass scale, or what an attack on a single device might cost in equipment and manpower.
It could cost a lot of time and money to backdoor a network of targetd. Even lesser spyware like NSO costs tens of thousands per infection.
I'm going to maintain that opting out of consensual surveillance is enough protection for 99.9% of people.
I also think we shouldnt assume we can be exploited or surveilled without clear evidence, such as primary reporting, information brought up in courts, or verified independently.
Even the PRISM leaks on big tech collusion at the end of the day was just a single PowerPoint slide.
Would they lie to make us believe they see and hear everything? Or is it more likely these companies are working in concert?
What do y'all think? Is it all hopeless with technology? Are you a blackpiller?
Do you think theres a way we can protect ourselves? Is there a reason why theres laws pushing to ban encryption, VPNs, and private crypto?
Can our connection remain sacred?
