Is Quad Group Dying Or Just Being Outsourced To Fight China?
The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue — or “Quad” — has long been hyped as the seeds of an “Asian NATO.” Made up of the US, Japan, India, and Australia, the Quad has been Washington’s big play for the Indo-Pacific. But with US President Donald Trump’s “America First” approach, many are asking if the group has a future.
Squeezed by Trump’s neo-Monroeist foreign policy and his deal-making style with allies, QUAD is fading fast. Analysts such as Michael Shoebridge (Director of Strategic Analysis Australia) are calling it “the incredible shrinking Quad”: its July 2025 ministers’ statement for instance boiled down to vague talk on sea security and cyber issues, ditching the meatier promises from Biden’s time.
Du Lan (Deputy Director at Asia-Pacific Institute) notes that Washington has “concentrated mostly on domestic reforms and ending conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East conflict”...

Battle Nears In Northern Syria With Drone Attacks On Kurdish Forces (Videos)
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) accused the forces of Islamist-led Interim Government of targeting its fighters near the town of Tel Hafer, some 40 kilometers to the east of the northern city of Aleppo, with drones, in what it described as an attempt to “destabilize the security and stability” of its areas.
In a statement released late on October 5, the Kurdish-led group said that a drone launched by government forces hit a military vehicle in the outskirts of Deir Hafer, causing minor injuries to three fighters, and an Internal Security Forces patrol in the same area, wounding four more fighters.

Russian Troops Strangle Kiev Forces In Kupyansk (Videos)
The Russian military’s offensive in Kupyansk gained momentum on October 4, but Kiev is still attempting to hold onto the key city.
In a major push, the Zapad [West] Group of Forces broke through Ukrainian defenses between the eastern part of Kupyansk and its eastern outskirts. This successful push in addition to recent advances in the western part of the city left Kiev forces cornered in a narrow strip in the center, mainly along the Privokzalnaya street connected to the southern entrance of the city.
Intensive use of drones by Kiev forces has so far prevented the Russian military from completely besieging the remaining Ukrainian troops in Kupyansk. This will not go on for long, however.

Disruption of Frontline Supplies: Russian Strikes on Ukraine's Key Infrastructure
On October 3–4, Russian forces struck energy facilities in Ukraine that support the operation of military-industrial complex enterprises and critical supply lines. Among the targets were energy facilities in the Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as launch sites for long-range drones.
Former U.S. Air Force Vice Chief of Staff General Richard Newton announced an impending shift in Ukraine's approach to military operations — from active defense to more decisive offensive actions. He emphasized that Ukraine should receive Tomahawk cruise missiles, which would enable it to strike Russian targets at distances of up to 800 miles. In his opinion, "This would allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike Russian command posts, logistics centers, and oil infrastructure, which would change the nature of the war and give Kyiv a new strategic tool of influence."

Trump Targeting Generals, Courting Domestic Turmoil: “War Against Enemies Within”
Quantico’s historic event revealed a US President confronting his generals, demanding loyalty, and escalating rhetoric against internal “enemies,” fueling concern over domestic stability and US military cohesion.
On September 30, 2025, at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, an unusual scene unfolded — one that may signal the start of a deep military crisis in the United States. President Donald Trump, flanked by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, addressed nearly 800 generals, admirals, and senior enlisted advisors — summoned at short notice from global outposts, at considerable taxpayer expense, just as whispers of a government shutdown loomed. What was billed as an unusual military gathering quickly turned into a clash.
Hegseth, in a 45-minute tirade, lambasted “fat generals” and decried the Pentagon’s “decades of decay” under diversity initiatives, vowing an end to “dudes in dresses,”...

"Ukraine’s Air Defense Effectiveness Against ‘Iskander’ and ‘Kinzhal’ Missiles Drops to 6%" — Kyiv Justifies New Arms Supply Boost
On October 1–2, 2025, Russian forces struck Ukrainian railway hubs, energy facilities, and military infrastructure. According to the Financial Times, Ukrainian air defense effectiveness dropped sharply in September 2025. The interception rate of Russian ballistic missiles fell from 37% in August to just 6%. Western and Ukrainian officials attribute this to modernized Russian Iskander and Kinzhal missiles, which can suddenly change trajectory, evading Patriot system interceptors.
Ukraine also faces delays in receiving US air defense interceptors. The Russian missile campaign has damaged key military and critical infrastructure ahead of winter. According to their reports, at least four drone factories near Kyiv, including a Bayraktar plant, were seriously hit this summer. Patriot systems have been damaged too, weakening Ukraine’s air defense network.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on October 5 shared a photo of the system from the exhibition, which was opened by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Kiev Forces Are Losing Costly Bet In Dobropillia And Pokrovsk (Videos)
Despite deploying large reinforcements in the Dobropillia salient and the nearby city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk direction, Kiev forces continue, as of October 5, to lose ground in both fronts.
In the Dobropillya salient, the Tsentr [Center] Group has reportedly secured the southern outskirts of Vladimirovka. The advance in this area appears to be the beginning of an operation to completely clear the pocket held by Kiev forces which splits the salient between Vladimirovka and Toretsk to the north.
Separately, there have been some reports of Russian troops resuming their advance from Kucheriv Yar towards Zolotyi Kolodyaz in the northwest.

Syria’s Former Army Resurfaces Under New Banner In North As Major Battle Brews (Videos)
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has amassed a large force, reportedly including soldiers and officers from the former Syrian military, in the town of Deir Hafer, located just 40 kilometers to the east of Aleppo city in northern Syria, amid growing tensions with the country’s Islamist-led Interim Government.
In March, the Interim Government and the SDF signed a breakthrough agreement meant to integrate the group into the institutions of the new state.
The agreement, which was meant to de-escalate, ended up causing more tensions between the two sides. Despite talks in France, none of its terms have been implemented yet.

Footage Sparks Rumors Of MiG-29 Fighter Jet Deliveries To Iran
Video footage showing a MiG-29 conducting a patrol over the Iranian capital, Tehran, surfaced on social media on October 2, fueling speculations that the Islamic Republic recently received additional fighter jets of this type from Russia.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) already operates MiG-29s. In fact, these fighter jets are considered among the newest in service with the air force.
Iran purchased 20 single-seat MiG-29 (9.12B variant) and four two-seat MiG-29UB trainers from the Soviet Union in 1989, with deliveries starting in 1990. This marked the initial entry of the MiG-29 into Iranian service, helping to rebuild the IRIAF after the war with Iraq.
