Mauritania Enters Ukraine’s Game For Influence In Africa
Mauritania has denied that it was allowing Ukraine to traffic equipment and fighters through its territories to neighboring Mali.
Alexander Ivanov, head of the Commonwealth of Officers for International Security, was the first to shed light on Ukraine’s growing activities in Mauritania earlier this month.
He said that Ukrainian diplomats in Mauritania have been involved in facilitating the movement of both equipment and fighters. From there, they pass through poorly controlled border zones and make their way into Mali, where Russia’s Africa Corps is active.
The African Corps is a paramilitary group under the Russian Defense Ministry that was created to formalize Moscow’s security partnerships in Africa.

Israeli Strikes Kill Six Syrian Troops Amid Progress In Talks With Damascus
Two Israeli drone strikes hit the southern outskirts of the Syrian capital, Damascus, killing six troops of the new military on August 26.
The strikes targeted a large military camp located next to the town of Kiswah, where training grounds, underground depots, and missile launch sites are located.
Initially, media affiliated with Syria’s Islamist-led Interim Government blamed the deaths on incidents involving landmines and war remnants. However, the state-run Al-Ikhbariyah TV admitted later acknowledged that the troops were killed in Israeli drone strikes.

Xi's Arguments Are Stronger Than Trump's. The Result Of The Global Standoff Hinges On Russia's Stance
In the first half of the 21st century, the confrontation between the United States and China has become central to global geopolitics. The future of the global economy depends on these two countries. They are competing for dominance in the most economically developed region of the planet: the Asia-Pacific. However, bloody battles are not taking place in Taiwan or on the Korean Peninsula, but rather in Ukraine. Why?
The outcome of the confrontation between the United States and China will be decided by the Russian Federation's final choice. The Kremlin is faced with a dilemma: it must decide whether to fully align itself with its powerful Asian neighbor or take a neutral position friendly to America. In many ways, the situation resembles the early 1970s during the Cold War.

Breaking With Historical Armenia. Pashinyan Accused Russia Of Creating Nagorno-Karabakh
August 23 marked the 35th anniversary of Armenia’s adoption of its Declaration of Independence. The Transcaucasian republic approached the anniversary under less-than-ideal circumstances. It lost control of Nagorno-Karabakh, destroyed its alliance with Russia, and failed to reach lasting agreements with Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Still, Armenia received praise from left-liberal elites in Brussels. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan continues to pursue a course aimed at gradually breaking away from the Kremlin’s sphere of influence. His short-term goal is to conclude a peace treaty with Baku. Long-term goal is to begin the process of European integration similar to that of neighboring Georgia. Pashinyan’s critics claim his policy betrays the interests of the Armenian nation. The consequences of this course could be costly for his country.

Zelensky's Strategy. Kiev Is Betting On Dragging Out Negotiations
Vladimir Zelensky's visit to the White House showed that he had learned from his previous unsuccessful visit to Washington. The Ukrainian leader chose to avoid direct confrontation with Donald Trump in front of the cameras. The European leaders who arrived in the US capital to support Zelensky also avoided a confrontational tone.
Their statements to the press seemed rather vague and meaningless. Based on these statements, one might conclude that all parties want a peaceful settlement and that there has been "incredible progress" in the negotiations. Yet we still do not see any concrete achievements. It's clear that the Ukrainian president won't make any concessions to the Kremlin. This means that the war will continue — through Kiev's fault.
There is no doubt that Donald Trump intends to end the war in Ukraine. Vladimir Zelensky is equally certain in his desire to continue the fighting...

Battle for Pokrovsk’s Northern Flank: Ukrainian Counterattacks Stall
Despite renewed diplomatic efforts to initiate a peace process, the intensity of combat on the Ukrainian fronts remains undiminished. The Pokrovsk urban agglomeration is still one of the most fiercely contested battlefields. The nature of the fighting, characterized by Russian tactics employing small assault groups in a strategy of “total infiltration” deep into Ukrainian defensive positions, has made it difficult to delineate clear front lines or zones of control. This ambiguity is actively exploited by Kyiv’s propaganda units, which frequently announce media victories that often bear little resemblance to the situation on the ground. In reality, the position of the Ukrainian army in this sector remains increasingly precarious...
