MARCH MAKEOVER
“Trust”
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Trust is a fundamental aspect of life, and it shapes our attitudes towards people and circumstances. But when it comes to God, trust takes on a more profound meaning. In Proverbs 3:5, we are called to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, acknowledging that He is the only one who knows what is best for us.
I mentioned a tightrope walker walking on a tightrope earlier, and I would like to turn our attention again to the tightrope suspended hundreds of feet in the air. The walker must trust the tightrope to hold their weight and keep them from falling. Similarly, trust in God requires us to have faith that He will hold us steady and keep us from falling as we walk life's tightrope.
Proverbs 3:5 reminds us that trusting in God is not a mere suggestion, but a commandment. We are called to surrender our doubts and uncertainties, allowing God to guide our steps, even when we cannot see the path ahead.
In a world that often breeds skepticism and doubt, God calls us to trust Him with all our hearts. He knows the plans He has for us, and they are plans for good and not for harm, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Let us, therefore, put our trust in the Lord, knowing that He will direct our paths and lead us to the abundant life He has promised.
MARCH MAKEOVER
“Faith”
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is a powerful force that moves mountains and brings about extraordinary things. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." This verse captures the essence of faith and what it means to trust in God.
Consider a tightrope walker who performs a daring feat by walking across a tightrope suspended high above the ground. The tightrope walker's faith in their abilities and the support system keeping them safe is what enables them to take that bold step. Similarly, our faith in God gives us the courage to take bold steps, even when we cannot see the outcome.
Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith is not just a feeling or belief; it is a tangible substance that fuels our hope and gives us confidence in the unseen. Through faith, we can accomplish great things and overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
In our daily lives, we must remember that faith is not just a passive concept but a dynamic force that enables us to trust in God and pursue our dreams. Let us cultivate and strengthen our faith, knowing that it has the power to transform our lives and bring about miraculous outcomes.
MARCH MAKEOVER
“Compassion”
Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Compassion is a powerful emotion that can transform lives and communities. It is a quality that reflects the heart of God and the character of Christ. In Colossians 3:12, the Apostle Paul exhorts us to clothe ourselves with compassion, along with other virtues such as kindness, humility, and patience. But what does it mean to be compassionate, and how can we cultivate this quality in our lives?
Imagine a makeover show where the focus is not on outward appearances but on inner transformation. A person who was once harsh, judgmental, and critical is transformed into someone who is kind, gentle, and compassionate. They learn to listen to others with empathy, to see the world from their perspective, and to respond with love and kindness. This is the power of compassion.
In Colossians 3:12 we are called to put on compassion as a garment, to wear it as a badge of honor, and to let it transform our hearts and actions. Compassion is not just a feeling or an emotion, but a deliberate choice to act with kindness, mercy, and love towards others.
As we strive to live out the virtue of compassion, we must remember that it is not just a human quality, but a divine attribute that is rooted in the character of God. When we show compassion to others, we exhibit the heart of our heavenly Father and the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ. Let us pray for the grace to be compassionate, to see others as God sees them, and to love them with the same love that He has shown us.

MARCH MAKEOVER
“Humility”
Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Humility is an essential virtue that is often overlooked in today's society and often viewed as a weakness. We live in a culture that emphasizes self-promotion, self-gratification, and self-importance. However, the Bible teaches us that humility is crucial in our relationships with others and with God. Philippians 2:3 says, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves."
A group of friends were getting ready for a makeover. They were all excited to show off their new looks and be the center of attention. One friend, however, suggests that they each take a moment to complement and encourage each other before showing off their new styles. This act of humility and kindness changed the tone of the whole makeover experience, and everyone felt uplifted and confident.
Philippians 2:3 highlights humility and encourages us to not act out of selfish ambition or conceit, but instead, we should count others as more important than ourselves. Humility is not about being weak or submissive, but rather it's about having a proper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world. Recognizing that we are not the center of the universe and that other people's needs and interests are just as important as our own. It's about showing kindness and respect to others and appreciating the value that each person brings.
As we strive for success and recognition, it's easy to become consumed with our own goals and desires. However, the Bible reminds us that true success and fulfillment come from serving others and showing humility. In our daily lives, we can practice humility by looking for opportunities to serve and encourage those around us. By counting others as more significant than ourselves, we can create a culture of kindness and respect that will transform the world around us.
MARCH MAKEOVER
“Perseverance”
Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Have you ever faced a challenge that seemed insurmountable? How did you respond? In Hebrews 12:1, the author encourages us to persevere in the face of adversity. Running a Christian race in a secular world is not an easy task. This is why we must preserver to overcome the obstacles and faithfully finish the race.
Imagine a runner who is competing in a marathon. Halfway through the race, he begins to feel exhausted and doubts whether he can finish. However, he remembers the example of the great cloud of witnesses and the encouragement of his fellow runners. He perseveres and eventually crosses the finish line. In the same way, when we face trials and difficulties, we can draw strength from the examples of those who have gone before us and the support of our Christian community.
You are that runner in the marathon for eternal life, surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. You may feel tired and discouraged, but you keep running, fixing your eyes on Jesus, who is the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. With each step, you draw closer to the finish line and the prize that awaits you.
Let us lay aside every weight and sin that hinders us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
MARCH MAKEOVER
“Love”
Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another.
I sometimes wonder what the world would look like if everyone loved one another without reservation or condition. A world where people honored each other above themselves and showed genuine care and concern for their fellow human beings. This may seem like an impossible dream, but it is the world that God calls us to create through the power of love.
Romans 12:10 says, "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." This passage reminds us of the importance of showing love and respect to others. In a world that is often divided by hate and selfishness, we need to be intentional about cultivating a spirit of love and unity.
Consider the example of Jesus, who demonstrated selfless love throughout his life and ministry. He showed compassion to the sick and the marginalized, forgave his enemies, and even laid down his life for others. His life and teachings are a powerful reminder of the transformative power of love. We can demonstrate our love for others by following Jesus' example and putting their needs before our own. This means being patient, kind, and compassionate, even when it is difficult or inconvenient.
One practical way to demonstrate love is to reach out to someone who is struggling or in need. It could be a friend who is going through a tough time, a neighbor who needs help with a task, or a stranger who could use a kind word or gesture. By showing love in these small ways, we can make a big difference in the lives of others.
When we demonstrate love to others, we not only bless them but also experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from living a life of love.
Today, take the message of Romans 12:10 to heart and commit to living a life of love. Look for opportunities to show love to others in your daily life. It could be as simple as smiling at a stranger, offering a kind word, or doing a small act of service for someone in need. By choosing to love others, we can make a difference in the world around us and bring glory to God. Let us commit to living a life of love and honoring one another above ourselves.
MARCH MAKEOVER
“Gratitude”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Gratitude is giving thanks to God in all circumstances. This means that we should cultivate a spirit of gratitude and appreciation in our lives, regardless of our circumstances.
This attitude of gratitude can be seen in the life of the apostle Paul. Despite facing many hardships and challenges in his life, such as imprisonment and persecution, he still expressed gratitude to God and encouraged others to do the same.
Gratitude is a powerful and transformative attitude that can bring joy and contentment to our lives, even in difficult times. When we choose to focus on what we are thankful for, rather than what we lack or what is going wrong in our lives, we can experience a greater sense of peace and fulfillment.
Give thanks to God in all circumstances and cultivate a spirit of thankfulness in your life. When we choose to focus on the blessings in our lives, we can experience greater joy and contentment, even in the midst of difficult times.
MARCH MAKEOVER
"Renewal"
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Paul highlights the importance of resisting the harmful influences and patterns of the world around us, and instead actively pursue transformation through the renewing of our minds. This renewal comes through a deepening relationship with God, as we surrender our thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors to Him and allow Him to reshape and renew us from the inside out.
Some practically ways that we can apply this principle of renewal to our lives can begin by prioritize time with God. Set aside regular time each day to read and reflect on Scripture, pray, and listen for God's voice. Engage in self-reflection. Take time to examine your thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors, and identify areas that may need to be renewed or transformed. Practice gratitude. Cultivate a grateful attitude and focus on the blessings in your life, rather than dwelling on negativity or discouragement. And finally, embrace change. Be open to new experiences and perspectives and be willing to let go of old habits or patterns that no longer serve you well.
Renewal is a powerful and transformative concept that is rooted in Scripture. By intentionally pursuing renewal in our minds, hearts, and spirits, we can experience profound transformation in all areas of our lives. Whether through prioritizing time with God, engaging in self-reflection, practicing gratitude, or embracing change, may we all be inspired to pursue renewal in our lives, and experience the abundant life that God desires for us.
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

“Obedience”
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Obedience to God is a crucial aspect of the Christian life. It is a demonstration of our love for God and our trust in His wisdom and guidance. In John 14:15, Jesus tells His disciples, “If you love me, keep my commands.” This simple yet powerful statement highlights the importance of obedience in our relationship with God.
There was a coach giving instructions to a team before a big game. The coach knew the game plan and had developed strategies for the team to follow. The players who listened and followed the coach's instructions achieve success on the field. And the players who did not listen to the coach’s instruction did not have a good game. Similarly, God is our coach, and He has given us commandments to follow. Those who obey His instructions are more likely to live a life of purpose and fulfillment.
John 14:15 teaches that obedience to God is an expression of our love for Him. It is a way to show our gratitude for the gift of salvation and our trust in God's plan for our lives.
Obedience to God may not always be easy, but it is a necessary part of the Christian journey. As we seek to live a life pleasing to God, we must be willing to submit to His will and follow His commands. In doing so, we demonstrate our love for Him and open ourselves up to experience the abundant life He has promised.
MARCH MAKEOVER
“Courage”
Have you ever been afraid to take on a new challenge or step out of your comfort zone? Perhaps you feel ill-equipped or uncertain about the outcome. Courage is a crucial character trait that can help us overcome our fears and pursue our goals with confidence. In Joshua 1:9, God encourages Joshua to be strong and courageous as he leads the Israelites into the promised land.
Think of a caterpillar that is about to undergo the metamorphosis of becoming a butterfly. The caterpillar might feel afraid of the unknown and uncertain about the changes that are about to take place. However, if the caterpillar embraces the process with courage and determination, it will emerge as a beautiful butterfly, soaring to new heights.
God's command to Joshua to be strong and courageous is not just for him, but also for us today. We may face challenges that seem insurmountable, but with God's strength and courage, we can overcome them and emerge victorious.
Like the caterpillar, we can embrace change and transformation with courage and faith in God. When we trust in God's plan and follow His lead, we can accomplish great things and fulfill our purpose. So, let us take courage and step out in faith, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.
Big Bang or Big GOD by Walter Veith
Was it the irrepressible force of a big bang that brought forth the universe and triggered the development of life? Or is this old, holy book right whose mysterious 66 writings begin with the simple words: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth?
Evolution or creation: two world views that could hardly be more diverse, with far-reaching consequences for mankind.
This event is a clear plea for the fact that man is not a product of chance but carries the ingenious handwriting of a loving creator. It is time for a new enlightenment, one that makes sense instead of robbing it, one that does not take God from us but brings Him back.

MARCH MAKEOVER
“Wisdom”
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
In the book of Proverbs, wisdom is personified as a woman who invites people to her banquet. Proverbs 9:10 declares that "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight."
There was a man who made poor decisions throughout his life, lacking direction, and constantly finding himself in trouble. He then realized he needed to make a change and seek out a life coach for guidance. The coach points out that the foundation of wisdom is the fear of the Lord and encourages him to seek God's wisdom in all areas of his life. As he begins to prioritize his relationship with God and seek His guidance, he started to see positive changes in his decision-making and life outcomes.
The fear of the Lord, which includes reverence, respect, and awe, is the foundation of true wisdom. When we prioritize our relationship with God and seek His guidance, we gain the insight and understanding needed to make wise decisions.
Just as a makeover can transform a person's outward appearance, the fear of the Lord can transform a person's heart and mind. As we seek God's wisdom and direction in our lives, we can experience true transformation and become the person God created us to be. Let us prioritize the fear of the Lord in all areas of our lives, seeking His wisdom and guidance above all else.
MARCH MAKEOVER
“Self-Control”
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
In our journey of self-improvement, personal growth, and a Christlike character, one of the virtues that we should cultivate is self-control. Which is the ability to exercise restraint over our thoughts, words, and actions. This virtue is emphasized in Galatians 5:22-23, where it is listed as one of the fruits of the Spirit.
Imagine a person who has decided to embark on a makeover journey. They have set a goal to improve their physical health by eating healthier and exercising regularly. However, they find it difficult to resist the temptation of unhealthy foods and often struggle to find the motivation to exercise. This is where self-control comes in. By exercising self-control, they can resist the temptation of unhealthy foods and make healthier choices.
Self-control is the ability to resist temptation and make choices that align with our goals and values, it enables us to resist the temptations of sin and stay on the path of righteousness. It allows us to overcome our impulses and make wise decisions that benefit us in the long run.
If we want to make positive changes in our lives, we need to exercise self-control. It is important to identify areas where we lack self-control and make a conscious effort to improve. By doing so, we can make progress towards our goals and achieve the transformation we desire.
As Christians, we are called to live lives that reflect the character of God. Self-control is one of the key fruits of the Spirit that helps us do that. When we exercise self-control, we show that we are living in submission to God and His will for our lives. By relying on the power of the Holy Spirit to help us exercise self-control, we can live lives that honor God and bring glory to His name.
MARCH MAKEOVER
“Patience”
Romans 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
Paul is emphasizing the importance of patience when we are waiting for something that we hope for but cannot yet see. In the context of the broader passage, Paul is discussing the hope that we have as believers in the future glory that we will experience with Christ.
Our hope in Christ requires patience. Patience is not just about waiting; it is also about enduring, persevering, and trusting in God's timing and plan. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and is necessary for spiritual growth and maturity.
In the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis. Joseph had a dream that he would one day be a ruler, but he experienced many trials and setbacks before his dream was realized. He was sold into slavery by his own brothers, wrongfully accused and imprisoned, but through it all, he maintained his faith in God's plan and was eventually elevated to a position of power in Egypt.
Like Joseph, let us cultivate patience in our own lives. We can do this by actively trusting in God's plan for our lives, even when it doesn't make sense to us. We can also pray for patience and seek to develop it as a character trait through intentional practice and perseverance. Ultimately, we can be assured that our hope in Christ will not disappoint us, and we can wait patiently for all that He has in store for us.
If these biblical makeover principles have been a blessing to you this far, please share it with someone who you know would benefit from them the way you have. Have a blessed day.

"Forgiveness”
Matthew 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Jesus' teachings on forgiveness is particularly powerful. In Matthew 6:14-15, Jesus challenges us to extend forgiveness to others as a reflection of God's grace and mercy towards us.
Imagine that someone close to you has betrayed your trust or hurt you deeply. You feel angry, hurt, and resentful, and the idea of forgiving them seems impossible. However, as you reflect on Jesus' words in Matthew 6:14-15, you begin to see forgiveness in a new light. You realize that holding onto bitterness and resentment only harms yourself, and that forgiveness is the key to finding peace and freedom from pain.
Forgiveness is essential to experiencing God's forgiveness and grace in our own lives. Jesus teaches that when we extend forgiveness to others, we reflect God's character and open ourselves up to receiving His mercy and forgiveness in return.
Matthew 6:14-15 is a powerful reminder of the importance of forgiveness in our Christian lives. As we extend grace and forgiveness to those who have wronged us, we reveal God's love and mercy towards us, and we open ourselves up to the healing power of His forgiveness. May we all be inspired to cultivate hearts of forgiveness and extend grace to those around us.
The theme for the month of March is “March Makeover”. This month we will focus on being inspired and empowered to undergo a spiritual and personal transformation by integrating biblical principles into our daily lives. I believe that each person can experience a profound makeover in their character, relationships, and overall well-being. We will discover how to accomplish this together this month and be made over by the power of the Holy Spirit.
