🇺🇸 Welcome to the Russian banya! This banya (sauna) was built by my grandfather, and is the perfect place to gather family together. The banya has been part of Russian history for centuries, and was used by all social classes. It has traditions and even legends tied to its use, and you feel revived even after one session! Russians have always prioritized cleanliness and the health benefits of a banya. I also love jumping in the snow afterwards in the winter, you should try it! That way you can feel truly Russian 💪🏼

🇺🇸 Happy Sunday! ☦️ A son’s love for his mother resulted in this beautiful Orthodox Christian church, nestled within the mountains of Siberia. Two-time Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling, Ivan Yarygin, built this church for his devout Christian mother Eudokia. Consequently, the church was named after her patron Saint - the Venerable Eudokia Grand Duchess of Moscow. Knowing the history of this church makes it extra special to come here, and the quiet atmosphere of the mountains adds to its holiness. It is one of my favorite churches in Russia.

🇷🇺 С Воскресеньем! ☦️ Любовь сына к матери привела к созданию этой красивой церкви, расположенной в горах Сибири. Двукратный олимпийский чемпион по вольной борьбе Иван Ярыгин построил эту церковь для своей матери, верующей христианки Евдокии. Следовательно, церковь была названа в честь ее покровительницы – преподобной Евдокии Великой Княгини Московской. Это место особенное, и тихая атмосфера гор добавляет ей святости. Это одна из моих любимых церквей в России.

🇺🇸 Tomatoes, watermelons, onions, raspberries, all this and more you can find growing in Siberia! 🍅🍉🧅🍓 Specifically in the southern part of the Krasnoyarsk region. Today I went to a market in Minusinsk to check out some of the local produce, and I wasn’t disappointed. Did you know this town is considered to have some of the best tomatoes in Russia? They’re so good that there’s even a tomato festival here every year. Italians, meet your tomato competition! 🍅

Сегодня я сходила на рынок в Минусинске, чтобы проверить местные продукты, и не разочаровалась. Знаете ли вы, что в этом городе растут одни из лучших помидоров в России? 🇺🇸 There is nothing more delicious than Russian bliny (pancakes/crepes) made by your babushka with love 🥞❤️ Bliny are my favorite Russian food, and recently I have grown to love them with caviar and smetana (a type of Russian sour cream.) They also go well with honey, jam, salmon, or anything else that you’d like! Let me know if you guys decide to try this recipe, it’s sooo good! 😍

🇺🇸 Country roads, take me home…to Siberia. I’ve always loved nature and the countryside more than the city. However, I do love Moscow too, in a fleeting kind of way. But when I’m in the countryside, that’s where I truly feel inspired. I don’t have to rush and run in the never ending race. Life slows down, and you have more time to appreciate the little things. It’s a Sunday kind of love. Your mind becomes clearer and you’re more carefree — which means getting on a barrel of hay in the middle of a field! 🌾

Когда я нахожусь на природе, именно там я вдохновляюсь. Мне не нужно спешить и бежать в бесконечной гонке. Жизнь здесь замедляется, и появляется больше времени, чтобы ценить мелочи. 🇺🇸 Walking the trail of ancestors in Siberia was a journey unlike any other ⛰️ These mountains and caves have been traversed by many before me — shamans, people from the Stone Age, and young wanderers seeking wisdom. The Republic of Khakassia in Siberia, Russia, is home to many such historical sites. It’s mountains, rivers, and steppes are filled with stories and spirits of the past. Words cannot describe the feeling you get surrounded by such beauty, the immense nature of Siberia. 💚

🇺🇸 Home. As someone who was born in one place, then moved around the world, it’s hard to pinpoint “home.” What is home for you? For me, it’s where my loved ones are. From one country to the next, I changed home more times than I can count. Yet one thing remained the same: the love waiting for me in Siberia. The only constant in my life that never changed, even when I did. Through the years, it still resembles my childhood. The same forests, mountains, and apple trees in my grandparents garden. Russia is my home.

🇷🇺 Дом. Человеку, который родился в одном месте, а затем переезжал по разным странам, трудно определить «дом». Что для тебя дом? Для меня это место, где мои близкие. Я меняла дом больше раз, чем могу сосчитать. Но одно всегда оставалось неизменным: любовь моих родных в Сибири. Это была единственная константа в моей жизни. Даже спустя столько лет все здесь по-прежнему выглядит и ощущается точно так же, как в моем детстве. Те же леса, горы и яблони в саду моей бабушки и дедушки. Россия – мой дом.

🇺🇸 Let’s go back 4,000 years ago 🏹 Who were some of the first people to inhabit the Siberian region of Khakassia? Meet the Neolithic Siberians who became part of what is known as the Okunev culture. An artistic nomadic people that raised livestock, prayed to idols, and produced some of the first bronze in north-eastern Central Asia! Let’s take a tour of their house and see what life was like back then.

🇺🇸 Daughter of the steppes 🌾 🐎 This is Khakassia! A land of natural beauty, folklore, shamanism, and wilderness. I am wearing a traditional outfit of the Khakas people — a Turkic indigenous population of Siberia. The Andronovo, Tagar, Samoyedic, and Yenisei Kyrgyz cultures, as well as other ancient populations that once inhabited southern Siberia, are the direct ancestors of the Khakhassian people. Did you know that Russia has around 200 ethnic groups? I hope to show them all to you one day! ⛰️

🇷🇺 Дочь степей 🌾 🐎 Это Хакасия! Земля природной красоты, фольклора, шаманизма и дикой природы. На мне традиционная одежда хакасов — коренного тюркского населения Сибири. 🇺🇸 Behold the largest dam in Russia! And the 12th largest in the world. This is the Sayano-Shushenskaya Dam located on the Yenisei river. At a height of 242 m (794 ft) it is such an impressive sight to see! A historical place filled with power, loss, and grandiosity, it serves as a true testament to Russian architecture. It’s overwhelming and a little scary to see something man-made stand between the mountains here. Russia is a force to be reckoned with!

🇷🇺 Самая большая плотина в России! И 12-й по величине в мире. Это Саяно-Шушенская ГЭС, расположенная на реке Енисей. На высоте 242 м это впечатляющее зрелище! Историческое место, наполненное силой, потерями и величием, оно служит истинным свидетельством русской архитектуры. Потрясающе и немного страшно видеть здесь между горами что-то рукотворное. 🇺🇸 Summer in Siberia does NOT involve snow! It may be hard to believe, but Russia is not covered in snow year round, and even some northern areas are full of greenery and sun ☀️ Where my grandparents live (the southern part of the Krasnoyarsk region) it can get get up to 40°C (104 °F) 🥵 You don’t have to go all the way to Sochi to get some summer sun, you can come to Siberia!

🇷🇺 Летом в Сибири снега НЕТ! Иностранцам сложно поверить, но Россия не покрыта снегом круглый год, и даже некоторые северные районы полны зелени и солнца ☀️ Там, где живут мои бабушка и дедушка (юг Красноярского края), температура может достигать 40°C (104 °F) 🥵 Чтобы позагорать летом, не обязательно ехать в Сочи, можно приехать в Сибирь!

🇺🇸 YouTube’s witch hunt has turned to Russian music. Shaman, Polina Gagarina, and now Oleg Gazmanov, among others. Since 2020, YouTube has blocked more than 200 channels of Russian media outlets and individuals, as reported by Roskomnadzor. My YouTube happened to be one of them. What are they so afraid of people seeing? Russian culture, songs, people, travels? They don’t want to see Russia have any humanity, because then Westerners might realise we aren’t so different after all. Or even worse, those songs and videos could ignite in them what they fear most - a love for Russia.

🇷🇺 YouTube продолжает свою охоту. Теперь они взялись за популярных российских музыкантов: Шаман, Полина Гагарина, а теперь и Олег Газманов. По данным Роскомнадзора, с 2020 года YouTube заблокировал более 200 каналов российских СМИ и частных лиц. Мой YouTube-канал тоже стал одним из них.
Что их так пугает? Неужели, то, что мир увидит русскую культуру, русских людей, услышит русскую музыку?
Они не хотят показывать ничего человеческого, что есть в России. Не удивительно, ведь тогда люди на Западе смогли бы осознать, что мы, вообще-то, не так уж сильно отличаемся. А быть может (что еще хуже), эти песни и клипы смогли бы разбудить людях то, чего они больше всего боятся, - любовь к России.
