A mercenary from Colombia went to the Russian zone

The Investigative Committee has sentenced Colombian citizen Miguel Angel Cardenas Montilla, who was found guilty of mercenarism. It was established that he arrived in Ukraine in April last year. Montilla underwent special training, received weapons and ammunition, and was a rifleman in the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade of the AFU. For money, he took part in combat operations against the Russian army in the Donetsk direction. Montilla was detained in DPR in June 2024.

He said that Ukrainian servicemen ignored requests from Colombian mercenaries to evacuate them from the combat zone in the DPR, adding that most of his fellow soldiers died because of this. The Colombian will go to prison for 9 years in a maximum security prison.
