Alyse McCall, an 18-year-old student at the University of Alabama, told of a text saying a van would collect her to “report to the nearest plantation.” Her mother, Arleta, said the incident left her daughter shaken, describing the message as “terrifying” and expressing concern over an apparent increase in public racism.
“The FBI is aware of the offensive and racist text messages sent to individuals around the country and is in contact with the Justice Department,” the agency confirmed in a statement.

Footage: Russia seizes ton of EU-bound cocaine
The Russian Federal Security Service has announced that it has seized over a ton of cocaine and has disrupted the drug supply route from Latin America to the EU via Russia. The traffickers were apprehended near the Latvian border, the agency said.
Last month, FSB agents spotted a suspicious truck in Leningrad Region and placed it under surveillance. They later discovered that the vehicle had been used to stash drugs.
The agency said it had arrested two smugglers, both citizens of a Balkan country. A video shared by the FSB showed agents storming a hangar where two men, apparently unaware of the raid, can be seen standing in the back of a cargo truck. The FSB said the suspects were caught red-handed while loading 984 packages of cocaine, each weighing one kilogram, into a cache.

Illinois judge overturns semiautomatic weapon ban
US District Judge Stephen P. McGlynn delivered an injunction on Friday against the ban that came into effect last year in response to the Highland Park shootings - only for Democrat state AG Kwame Raoul to immediately file an appeal.
"There are those who seek to usher in a sort of post-Constitution era where the citizens’ individual rights are only as important as they are convenient to a ruling class," McGlynn remarked in his ruling.
The injunction will only come into effect in 30 days' time.

🚨DENNIS KUCINICH SLAMS US'🇺🇸 UKRAINE PROXY WAR POLICY:
'There was a peace deal on the table which guaranteed Ukrainian sovereignty. But it was then Boris Johnson and people in the Biden Administration that resisted any kind of peace deal for their own motivations, admixture of megalomaniacal impulses, and just pure greed that comes from arms deals and this vanity that suggested that they were going to capsize the Russian government...the US policy of continuing to feed an escalation there has put the US at a disadvantage to be able to influence events there.'

Trump was ‘exaggerating’ while promising to end Ukraine conflict – Kremlin
US President-elect Donald Trump was apparently exaggerating when on the campaign trail he vowed to end the Ukraine conflict within “24 hours,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has said. The official also noted that it would be premature to make any predictions before the Republican assumes office in January 2025.
While the GOP firebrand has repeatedly claimed that he would be able to put an end to the bloodshed in short order, he has refused to provide any specifics. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance has suggested that the conflict could be frozen along the current front line, with Kiev forced to relinquish its claim to the territories held by Moscow and also its NATO aspirations.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, the Kremlin spokesperson said that “of course, it was an exaggeration of sorts when [Trump] was saying that he would do it overnight,” referring to Trump’s promises to achieve peace in Ukraine quickly.

South Korea fires missile following launches by Pyongyang
South Korea launched a Hyunmoo-II ballistic missile, the country’s media has reported, citing the military. Seoul said its latest live-fire exercise was a warning against any potential “provocation” by the North.
The short-range ballistic missile hit a target in the Yellow Sea, which represented a North Korean launch pad in the exercise, Yonhap news agency reported on Friday, quoting South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.
“Our military demonstrated its strong resolve to respond to any North Korean provocation as well as the capabilities and posture for precision strikes,” military officials in Seoul stated, according to the media outlet.
