British King ‘making millions’ from secret property empire – Sunday Times
British King Charles III and his son Prince William have contracts with UK taxpayer-funded public services, charities, government departments and even a prison, which help them earn millions every year, the Sunday Times has claimed. That’s in addition to the so-called sovereign grant the royals get from the government.
In 2023 alone, Charles and William’s “private fiefdoms,” the Duchy of Lancaster and the Duchy of Cornwall - raised £27.4 million (over $35 million) and £23.6 million ($30 million) respectively for the British royal family, the newspaper found as part of a joint investigation with Channel 4’s Dispatches program.
Some 5,410 landholdings and properties are held by the royal duchies, the investigation claims.

Bus plunges into gorge in northern India, killing 36
At least 36 people have died, and ten have been injured after a bus carrying 42 passengers plunged into a 200-meter-deep gorge in northern India.
The accident occurred on a dangerous stretch of mountain road, with the driver losing control of the vehicle.
The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals, and search and rescue operations are underway at the scene.

Japan launches flagship rocket carrying military satellite
Japan has launched its H3 rocket along with a defense communication satellite, marking a third attempt after a failed debut in 2023. The H3, developed by Japan's Aerospace Exploration Agency and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, will replace the H2A rocket series. Moldova’s incumbent pro-EU president, Maia Sandu, declared victory in Sunday’s runoff election after an official tally gave her a 10-point lead over former prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo.
With over 98% of ballots counted, Sandu had received 55.03% of the votes, while Stoianoglo had 44.97%, news channel TVR reported in the early hours of Monday, citing the Central Electoral Commission.
Although early results indicated a slim lead for Stoianoglo, Sandu overtook him at around midnight, and the gap gradually widened as more votes were counted overnight.
