The euro has been struggling to break out of its $1.05 consolidation. Euro CPI, rate set, jobs ahead may change the narrative

• The #EURUSD 🇪🇺/🇺🇸 pair was slow to move early on Monday as the US dollar has exhibited some minor signs of weakness over the past couple of days. The exchange rate slipped last week to a bottom of $1.0520 but bounced back to float just above the $1.0560 mark in a show of sluggish momentum

• All that may change this week as markets brace for a mosaic of data that can shift asset trajectories. In Europe, Germany updates on Monday its GDP data with the quarterly and monthly figures. A day later, the eurozone's inflation print is expected to show a 3.2% price growth for October, a steep downshift from September’s 4.3%

• Stateside, the Federal Reserve is on deck for Wednesday. The US central bank will deliver its interest-rate update (likely a hold), wrapping up a two-day meeting with a Q&A session with Fed chief Jay Powell. And finally, the number of jobs created in October will be revealed Friday. Markets expect nonfarm payrolls to land at 182,000, down from 336,000 a month prior

#XAUUSD is forming a correction to the previously broken ascending triangle resistance after the opening of the trading session. There is still a huge amount of interest in the market and it continues to increase

On Sunday, we analyzed the gold market and at the moment everything shows that the growth will continue. As I said, from the opening a small drop is formed to test the support level. Since the price is in a bullish trend within the ascending channel, the price is also testing the trend support. The Japanese yen is the world’s worst performing currency this year, having erased more than 13% of its valuation

• The #USDJPY 🇺🇸/🇯🇵 pair sprinted to the upside Thursday, after another leg up from the dollar. The exchange rate crossed the alarming ¥150.00 threshold, pushing to a one-year high of ¥150.80. The peak was roughly 100 pips away from the pair’s multi-year high of ¥151.94 hit last October

• The continued weakness in the yen this year positions the Japanese currency as the biggest loser on the forex board for 2023. Among all the world’s currencies, the yen is staring at a 13% devaluation, worse even than the Turkish lira’s 10% pullback or the Norwegian krone’s 9% retreat

• With that said, the constant battering is likely frustrating Japanese officials who have been monitoring the yen for a while. They have previously stated that an intervention to prop up the yen’s value could come at any moment, especially after the highly-sensitive ¥150.00 line has been crossed

#USDJPY has been in a narrow consolidation phase for a long time. A break of resistance is inconclusive as the market is unstable due to #DXY halt ahead of news and intervention in Japan

There are quite a lot of traps formed on the chart (white ticks), I explained in the gold idea how these traps are formed. Due to low liquidity because of unclear situation and further actions, players tried to gain positions, but to no avail. Consolidation continues. At the moment the price is breaking the support of the ascending channel, which may be the beginning of the correction.

The dollar is testing the resistance and may bounce down, which will provoke a decline in USDJPY and within this movement the price may follow the scenario of the black arrow and go down to 149.3, 148.74 and 148.26. But if the news comes out this week and provokes a breakout of the resistance of the dollar, the currency pair will form a false breakout of one of these support lines and will head towards the resistance of 152.0. At the moment we are watching the levels and the price reaction to these levels + news.

Resistance levels: 149.98, lower channel boundary
Support levels: 149.3, 148.74, 148.26

I assume a small correction, but in the medium term the price may reach 152.0

The #DXY due to uncertainty on the background of monetary policy stands still and forms a sideways range. But amid the news, the dollar index may continue its trend as Powell is not ready to cut rates yet. In this case, the analyzed currency pair may break the support and head towards 1.1821.
Still, in the long term there is a chance for strengthening of GBPUSD, locally, a signal in the form of a false breakdown of 1.2117 and price consolidation above the level may serve to this.

I assume that now there is a high chance of a rebound from the support. The currency pair may strengthen to 1.2272 and test the flat resistance.

#XAUUSD is breaking a key resistance area. I previously pointed to the 1984 level.News and fundamental background and heightened interest favor the metal's pricing

Gold is subject to increased interest based on conflict and geopolitical crisis. This is mostly due to the situation in the middle east. Today several important news are published, which will give us a medium-term understanding about inflation and further US monetary policy.
From a technical analysis point of view, there is a high chance of a continuation of the price rise, because if 1984 is broken and the price consolidates above this level, the market has a new target as 2000 and 2025. Investors, medium term holdings perceive gold as a safe asset in volatile times, money is flowing smoothly from the market into gold. In the medium and long term, I expect the growth to continue, as there are no preconditions for global improvement in the world.
