#Offshore_Wind
The UK today took a key step in getting its ambitious offshore wind build-out back on track, raising auction price caps and dedicating a pot of money to offshore wind – after AR5 flopped earlier this autumn with a developer no-show. In the AR6 auction opening in March 2024, the administrative strike price for fixed-bottom is increased by 66% to 73 GBP/MWh and by 52% for floating, to 176 GBP/MWh.

🔋#Green_hydrogen
India has approved the National Green Hydrogen Mission, an incentive plan of 174.9 billion rupees (U$2.11 billion) to promote #Green_hydrogen in a bid to cut emissions and become a major exporter in the field.
Under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition Programme (SIGHT), two distinct financial incentive mechanisms – targeting domestic manufacturing of electrolysers and production of Green Hydrogen – will be provided. The Mission will also support pilot projects in emerging end-use sectors and production pathways. Regions capable of supporting large scale production and/or utilization of Hydrogen will be identified and developed as Green Hydrogen Hubs.
India plans to build electrolyser capacity of 60-100GW to help produce green hydrogen.
The Indian hydrogen mission is envisioned in three phases:
1. 2022-2024 – focused on developing policies, guidelines and undertaking pilot projects;
2. 2025-2026 – focused on early scale up of hydrogen production in the country, bringing costs down and facilitating policy-based incentives for large-scale production; and
3. 2020-2030 – a period focused on diversification of applications beyond the earlier adopter focused areas.

The new International Energy Agency #Global_Hydrogen_Review_2022 is out 🛎.
The challenge is twofold:
✅ On one side there is the need to bring down the cost of electrolysers – a sector that sees encouraging trend as manufacturing capacity is announced in significant expansion.
✅ On the other side the key element is to create a robust and sustainable demand for hydrogen use, an area where are emerging important signs of progress especially in the steel #production, transportation and #electricity generation.
The report also suggests several steps for governments to reduce risk and improve the economic feasibility of low-emissions hydrogen.

Exciting news from China's MingYang Smart Energy Group! 🌬️
They're planning a massive 22 MW offshore wind turbine with a rotor diameter exceeding 310 meters. This incredible innovation is not only the most powerful but also the largest wind turbine ever announced. It has the potential to significantly boost offshore wind farm efficiency and renewable energy production. 💨🌊
The 22MW turbine, which is expected to be built by 2024 or 2025, will have blades that stretch nearly the height of the Eiffel Tower. That means it can capture more wind and generate more power than any other turbine in the market.
The question that remains is: What could be the limit for the size of offshore wind turbines, and where might potential supply chain bottlenecks arise? 🤔

It is with a heavy heart that I reach out to all of us, to stand in solidarity with those affected by the recent earthquake along the Syrian-Turkish borders.
This devastating event has taken countless lives, with the toll continuing to rise, especially in the northern regions of Syria where inadequate equipment and resources are making an already dire situation even worse.
Very limited number of organisations such as #White_Helmets and #molham_team are able to reach the impacted areas in north Syria and courageously working to rescue families and offer support to survivors with almost bare hands and extremely limited resources. I strongly urge everyone to show their support by making a generous donation to help ease the suffering of those affected regions by this tragedy.

Chinese OEM CSSC Haizhuang Wind Power (中国海装) is rolling out a massive 18MW monster. It is a 260m rotor diameter! and is quite a jump up from the 16.7MW machine.
It has taken quite some time for the offshore wind industry in China to catch up to with the European big three turbine players but they have now taken the lead in turbine size. It will now only be a matter of time before the first Chinese machine appears in EU waters.

#DNV published the "Hydrogen forecast to 2050" report.
Some most interesting conclusions from the new #DNV Hydrogen report about the #LOHC technologies:
1️⃣ Hydrogen can be transported in three different ways: #ammonia, liquid hydrogen (LH2 ), or with liquid organic hydrogen carriers (#LOHC).
2️⃣ The energy loss of dual conversion is 20 to 30% of the hydrogen transported. All three technologies exist and may become the technology of choice.
3️⃣ Liquid organic hydrogen carriers (#LOHC) have the lowest safety risks as their properties are close to those of liquid hydrocarbons already handled in large quantities.
4️⃣ For distances shorter than 1,500 km, it is cheaper to transport #hydrogen in pipelines as pure gas, while for longer distances, transporting the hydrogen as ammonia or via a #LOHC by ship seems to be more cost-effective.

Global Energy Ventures (GEV)'s scoping study has demonstrated the C-H2 supply chain will be a competitive large-scale marine #hydrogen transport solution for Australia to Asia-Pacific.
The study evaluated the capital and operating costs of #CompressedHydrogen (C-H2), Liquefied Hydrogen (LH2) and Ammonia (NH3) to determine the Levelised Cost.
C-H2 is cost competitive, simple and energy efficient, with minimal technical barriers for commercialisation in line with major projects seeking exports solutions.
GEV will now accelerate its plan to address key markets for green hydrogen, advancing the C-H2 Ship approvals and defining our own green hydrogen export project in Australia to support the construction of a pilot scale C-H2 Ship.
For a detailed summary of GEV's findings including an analysis of the energy use and technical barriers for #LH2 and #NH3 see
