Buddy of mine messed up bad.
Said he was trying to be smart and get ahead of the curve. Kept chasing meme coins and got burned on all the random pumps.
He put up about 40k in crypto. Lost most of it moving and transferring g it around.
He finally gave up and moved and transferred from all his other crypto in Bitcoin.
He's got $15k of the $40k left, and have been buying and selling the dips and pumps with Bitcoin. Slowly getting his money back.
He's been asking me what he should do. I keep telling idk; we're both hoping Bitcoin heads to $120k. So I'm asking here bc I can't keep this to myself.
If he sells he'll just be harvesting, what, 1/10 of his losses over the next 10 years or something?

Why such a stigma with fidelity bitcoin investment?
I just want to preface by saying I’m not trying to convey anything negative and I’m just genuinely curious here, so put away the pitchforks .
That being said, I understand the cold wallet thing and how they say if “you don’t own the key, you don’t own the coin” saying. I get it. But if I’m just investing in the idea of it just to make a profit on it through Fidelity, Robinhood, etc, then wherein lies the danger of that?
I personally think that if I were to invest in the actual storage and get the actual coin, I open more possibilities of liability (theft, being a dumbass and losing the wallet, technical error from my naivety, etc) as opposed to just opening up an app on my phone and checking on my (bitcoin) investment.
As I said, I’m not trying to buy for the fact that I will actually use the coin. I just see the returns and I think it would be a good investment. It seems though that the general consensus here is completely against that and if I don’t go the cold wallet route, I’d be a fool.
Just want to know if I’m missing something here

This is one of the most fascinating interviews with Saylor I've seen. The first 30 minutes is stuff we've seen before, where he gets asked how Microstrategy got into Bitcoin. What I really think is great about this is how Pete disagrees with him on some of his logic and they go back and forth over critical future issues about Bitcoin. The interview is broken into chapters and the good stuff starts at 32 minutes. Hope this is not a repost, but this is an excellent way to spend 2.5 hours.

Becoming a whole coiner
I recently inherited around $120k from my grandfather who sadly passed.
My dad argues I should buy like 1.5 btc from it, considering it could be a huge amount of money in the coming years when a block reward is 0.25 or something, and crypto becomes more important.
However, my mom is very frustrated at this idea and keeps telling me it's the equivalent of gambling money. She's scared it's all going to be lost.
I'm personally very bullish on crypto and have been invested in this space for years, but it's a much more significant amount than I have ever put away.
Would you say this could be a great opportunity?
I'm only 20 and still going to college for CS.

Is it possible to never pay tax from BTC profit?
Let's say I bought a lot of btc some time ago. It went up significantly. Now I got enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life.
So I'm taking little from my hard wallet each week or each month. I don't need any big purchases because I can rent apartment and a car.
I have never registered anywhere that I purchased crypto. I guess the lizards could go back several years in time to see my bank transactions?

Stop trying to rush things, you lose money because you are impatient
I seen people here sometimes, they will try to “swing trade it”. You are so obsessed with making money fast that you end up losing the money because you do not want to wait. In reality if you would have just waited and held Bitcoin you would have made more money than swing trading.
Oh and going into “crypto” for another fast way is also just ridiculous and another way to lose money, stop racing to the finish line, because all you will do is trip and fall flat, take your time and HODL Bitcoin.

Sending BTC is anxiety inducing
I was trying to transfer some BTC from an exchange to cold storage. I quadruple-checked the address I put in, and was anxious as heck when I hit the send button. I think it’s probably because I know how irreversible it is, and how there’s no recourse if I mess up.
Does this feeling ever go away 😅
