Never underestimate how much the critics do not know about Bitcoin
I've been discussing bitcoin with a smart friend who is a macro analyst at a big bank on and off since 2017. He's always been a skeptic, and still really hasn't conceded much about bitcoin's value.
Just yesterday we were discussing bitcoin again, and he assured me he understood the importance of hashrate in bitcoin mining. We were comparing bitcoin mining to gold mining. I mentioned that the gold supply increases by 2-3% per year but if the gold price went up enough, that number could actually increase because more resources would be allocated to gold mining and they would dig more gold out of the ground, whereas that would not be true for bitcoin. He insisted bitcoin mining was no different, and that more miners will turn on as the price increases, so more bitcoin would be mined.
This is of course wrong, there is a fixed supply of bitcoin released every block that miners compete for, so the number of bitcoin miners running does not impact the new supply of bitcoin.
Right now the marketcap of bitcoin is 1.337 Trillion dollars. The difference in marketcap between the bitcoin he was imagining and the bitcoin we have is exactly 1.337 Trillion dollars. Such a system would have collapsed long ago.

The next superpower nation will be the one that accumulates the most Bitcoin
When nations control the supply of money in a fiat system, they get to choose how that money is used, which historically has been for wars and expansion of influence. However, in a Bitcoin Standard system, the direction of power will be determined by those with the most wealth (i.e. most Bitcoin)
However, it would make perfect sense to me that whichever nation accumulates the most Bitcoin before or during the incoming adoption supply shock will have the most wealth to use for expanding their realm of influence. I foresee this rebalancing of superpowers happening once as the Bitcoin Standard is fully implemented, before it ends up getting redistributed through spending.
After this rebalancing and the circular economy takes root, Bitcoin will eventually find its way back into the hands of the people, and it will be exponentially more difficult to fund a war when you must draw money from the citizens of the nation. If the citizens do not agree with the intentions of the war, they will refuse to contribute to it.

Did I fuck myself/ lose my stack
I somehow seem to have forgotten the PIN to get into my cold card. I was very sure on it but now seems I mispunched it or actual forgot somehow. I do have my metal seedplate, am I correct in assuming I have (assuming I do not recall it in the next 5 tries) bricked the cold card, but I can recover the wallet elsewhere? Or am I just totally and completely screwed? I did my tests and everything when I set it up, not sure how tf I messed up in the meantime but argh. All savings for the last nearly two years... this would hurt. A lot.

Bitcoin Collateralized Loans
Just getting a feel for opinions on posting my bitcoin up as collateral where I possess the keys and there is no rehypothecation. I would only be willing to collateralize no more than 15% of my stack. Trying to work part time and start living off my bitcoin but not sell it. Any helpful advice?
