Just beat Slime Rancher 2: my thoughts

The game is definitely good, but I think the game has issues in the late game majorly surrounding collecting resources and the emphasis on exploration. I thought the gameplay loop itself was fun but the previously mentioned aspects I don't like as much disrupt that experience, but I suppose it would also get a bit dull if you only ranched slimes for 50 hours.

It feels like some areas just exist so you have to explore them for upgrades. The powderfall bluffs just exists for 1 slime and 3 resources. I think the constant back and forth of collecting items but often I felt like I kind of got distracted doing one task for long enough that the day ticked over and items respawned without me noticing a lot of the time.

The post game just consists of min maxxing upgrades which is definitely not for me especially with how I view the grind here. I think there should definitely be some kind of radar upgrade that you can unlock that'll make getting treasure pods and other collectables a lot easier if you want that.

One thing I definitely don't like is using shadow plorts to only get decorations considering how valuable and scarce they can be at times, at least before getting the sureshot upgrade but even then a stack of 50 or more can't be sufficient for some doors. I'm still not overly keen on a system that's close to how gold slimes work being a main way of gating areas and certain content from the player.

Also the game would be literally perfect for co-op and I'm not sure why it wasn't added during the early access phase (officially).

Quantum Cloud Trick to Save Sanity

Having your bee drone out port next to a refinery link immediately deposits almost everything from your quantum cloud fine, just be careful that you don't put more than 999 of anything in. this is probably an obvious solution to most but doing this manually really stinks.

Infinite Ringtail Plot Bug(i think its a bug😭)

So I found a pretty funny bug with the Ringtail Slime.
Normally, it eats everything forever, but once it’s “full” it stops dropping plorts and gets that smug little face.

But here’s the weird part — if you put the Ringtail in a **Slime Display(like chairs)** while it’s full, it instantly goes back to its happy face, like it forgot it was full.
Then, if you take it out and feed it again, it drops plorts like normal.

After that it gets full again, and you can just repeat the whole thing forever:

* Feed it → stops giving plorts (smug face)
* Put it in the display → happy again
* Take it out → feed → plorts
* Infinite loop 😅

Seems like putting it in the display resets its “fullness” state or something.
It’s not game-breaking, but it definitely lets you farm infinite Ringtail plorts if you want to abuse it 😂

**Steps to reproduce:**

1. Feed a Ringtail Slime until it stops producing plorts.
2. Place it in a Slime Display.
3. Remove it from the display.
4. Feed it again. → The slime produces plorts again as if its fullness state was reset.

**Expected result:**
The Ringtail Slime should remain full and unable to produce plorts, even after being placed in or removed from a Slime Display.

**Actual result:**
The slime starts producing plorts again as if it were hungry, allowing infinite plort farming.

Possible Incinerator & Pond Upgrades/Decor?

I always feel so bad for my fire slimes when they are left out in the rain :((

I would love it if there was a mini-upgrade/decor you could purchase for the incinerator (if you're using it for slimes) where you could have a canopy! Or some kind of metal/glass roof to keep the rain out.

You could do something similar for ponds in hot and dry weather, like a little shady area so the puddle slimes don't evaporate!!

I love all of the goopy slimes so dearly and I want to customize their homes more
