2024 Mandalika MotoGP Practice Results: Bastianini Stamps His Authority On Proceedings
Enea Bastianini has followed up his win at Misano with a powerful demonstration of speed at Mandalika. The Ducati Lenovo rider was three tenths under the existing lap record, and capable of doing that kind of time seemingly at will. Jorge Martin ended the session in second, just four hundredths behind Bastianini. The Pramac Ducati rider had been strong throughout timed practice, and ran a very strong pace.

If you build it, they will come. That is the theory. Build a stadium, a circuit, a resort somewhere that is underdeveloped, economically deprived, or out-of-the-way, and that will attract the fans, the tourists, and the money they bring will pay off the cost of the initial investment, and more.
What if they don't come though? One of the reasons the places tend to be underdeveloped is precisely because they are out of the way. Getting there is hard, and once you get there, there isn't anywhere to stay. And the places that are offering accommodation are taking advantage of the sudden surge to whack their prices up as high as possible.
That is the case with the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit. Initially envisioned as the heart of a thriving tourist resort on the southern coast of the Indonesian island of Lombok. With neighboring Bali becoming overrun with tourists, the Indonesian government wanted to develop the next island along to help share the tourist load. And so they started work on the circuit and signed a contract to host MotoGP.

Tyre choice was between the development and standard SCX tyres. Twenty three laps of the year's shortest circuit opened up at 27ºC, warmer than yesterday, with a matching band replacing yesterday's electric violin playing the Italian national anthem. The weekend attendance was 45,823 at a tiny track with a 20,000 capacity limit.

Danilo Petrucci was the star of the show at Round 9 and the Barni Ducati rider joins us to talk about winning, how his style of riding evolved from childhood and what it meant to win again after his training crash in April.
He wasn't the only Ducati rider to appear as we grabbed Alvaro Bautista to talk about his Superpole struggles and whether he can still be a title contender. Adrian Huertas also stopped by to give us his thoughts on moving to Moto2 in 2025.
