$CRBRUS, a Cosmos ecosystem memecoin token stranded on the Osmosis
Two things I want to preface this with
1. I have TLDR at the bottom of the post. So feel free to skip to the bottom to get an overview of why I like $CRBRUS as an extremely low cap memecoin available for purchase on Osmosis.
2. I am new to this sub and am not familiar with how people put together an investment thesis here, so I hope this post is taken well by anyone who reads it. However, when you get a good low cap, low liquidity memecoin narrative, I feel like I should post about it.
Specs of the token (Liquidity, trading volume, market cap)
Liquidity on Osmosis is extremely low, at $2,900 currently with a trading volume that is virtually nonexistent. I bought $11 of $CRBRUS today and it pumped up almost 2%... So talk about “Low cap, low liquidity gem”. If this thing catches any fire at all, it could go absolutely wild.
The market cap, is currently at $1,500 (5.1 billion $CRBRUS at $.0000003). So once again, low cap altcoin with massive room to run if the narrative catches on in any capacity.
Story and narrative behind the token
This memecoin is from the Cosmos Ecosystem, had (technically still has) a token called $CRBRUS. It was created as a solo app-chain (with a sovereign validator set), with the application simply being a meme. Not the most profitable application model, but it was fun for a while.
This chain did an airdrop, in the last bull market and this airdrop actually made some people made a fair amount of money, like if you staked a decent amount of $ATOM, $OSMO and $HUAHUA (another Cosmos dog token) you could have easily earned $150-$1000 in $CRBRUS. It was a wild ride during Cosmos airdrop season, dog chains were flying around left and right with bags of money. The funny thing about these dog chains though, is that they would try to be too official with it. They had Devs, community pools and didn't just go all out and airdrop the whole token, so making a "Memecoin" that has some level of significance as a utility just isn't that fun and no one used the Cerberus chain ($CRBRUS).
That is where prop 31, in Cerberus chain Governance comes in. Basically, this prop pleaded to put the chain out of its misery. It was nowhere near profitable, and there were other possibilities to utilize the wasted validator infrastructure, that were validating a zombie chain. So they did, prop 33 pulled the trigger on the Cerberus chain. The Validators had been given final notice to quit validating, and the network officially shut down, leaving 5 Billion $CRBRUS on Osmosis, out of the hundreds of Billions that remained on the chain and were essentially burned. Talk about the biggest burn in history. Today, you can still trade this memecoin on Osmosis.
What makes $CRBRUS unique other than it not having a mainnet anymore?
Well a few things make this low cap memecoin different. The bridged liquidity in Osmosis, is basically all people who provided liquidity and just forgot their liquidity is there or didn’t want to take their $CRBRUS back to the mainnet to be burned. Also, a few other key things are
No “Devs” to rug you
No chain inflation, token releases or Dev vesting periods. There is still 18 days left on a LP contract on Osmosis, that pays some rewards for the next 18 days, but after that, $CRBRUS will be totally hard capped.
TLDR
Cerberus chain ($CRBRUS) was a Cosmos app-chain that airdropped its token out to ATOM, OSMO and HUAHUA stakers. The chain marketed itself as an official memecoin with utility. After a few months of running Cerberus chain, a governance proposal came on-chain that literally intended to end the chains existence, and the network participants agreed to not waste the resources trying to run a sovereign meme blockchain. The proposal passed, and the Cerberus chain was shut down (burning any funds that were left on Cerberus mainnet), but about 5 billion $CRBRUS tokens still remain bridged, on the Osmosis DEX and are still available for trading still.
