How I scored 8 in IELTS?
Hi all. My name is Islomjon. Now I would like to share my success story with you. It all began 5 years ago. I took IELTS exam to apply for a university and I became a student of MDIS in Tashkent with 6.5 band. At that time this score was way too beyond my expectations as I always tended to underestimate myself. Over the course of 4-year study not only have I earned a degree, but also I have continuously improved my English. However, I decided to resit the exam just in January this year.
Tell you what, it is unbelievably difficult to combine IELTS preparation with your full-time job. But I did my best to get the best out of both. I work for Coca-Cola Bottlers Uzbekistan as an assistant of Sales & Marketing Department and you can only imagine what my work commitments would be like. During these four months, I have turned to any possible resource, any available practice book and anyone with a high IELTS band. In the end, it’s just your perseverance that makes a difference, not your excuses. I hate to sound immodest but with your hard work and effort comes the desired result.
So how I did this? I set weekly goals, made daily plans and got them done. I am so much grateful for 6 Minute English podcasts, I have listened to every single podcast since 2008 up to now (around 500 podcasts with 6-minute length each). About reading, I did a wide variety of practice tests. Here are some of the practice books I used:

As for writing, I must confess I am in love with it. No exaggeration but I don’t go a single day without writing at least 500 words, be it an essay, a letter or report. And finally about speaking, I knew I wasn’t doing enough practice as my day-to-day life involved limited level of speaking English. So I just talked to myself, sometimes out loud ;)
All in all, a human being is greedy, I must say, as I think I could’ve got a higher score;) And this in turn is giving me stimulus to do even better, to score even higher! I thank Allah and in the future InshaAllah I will achieve my aim! Wish everyone to get a result of their dream and never ever give up!
