Are live-in relationships illegal in India?
No! Contrary to popular belief, live-in relationships are not illegal as per Indian laws. Also, children born out of live-in relationships have the right to parents' property. Although frowned upon in our country, this is predominant among the youth of the nation.
Also, the law does not state that unmarried couples can be denied rooms in hotels. Unmarried couples are free to book rooms in hotels - with consent.

SparkVision is a startup that focuses on workplace culture to create environments where people thrive. The founder, MaryBeth Hyland, built her business using hard-won survival skills. Believe it or not, this is her story:
“I was abused by my father and manipulated to not speak about it to anyone. In order to get through that situation, I had to morph who I was to accommodate my father’s unpredictable moods. I learned what to say, how to act and what to do to get him in a good mood to avoid getting hurt. It’s a part of me that I always hid and, frankly, was ashamed of. But now that I have a business that is built on human connection and empowerment, I know that it’s rooted from the survival skills I learned in my upbringing. Those are now gifts I use to help others to have a better experience in their day-to-day interactions.”

Hotels and restaurants can continue to sell packaged mineral water bottles above ‘MRP’ rates - the Supreme Court has observed that no prevailing law prevents such a sale. A bench of Justice RF Nariman and Justice Navin Sinha observed that neither the Standards of Weights and Measures Act, 1976, nor the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, would apply so as to interdict the sale of mineral water in hotels and restaurants at prices which are above the MRP.

After Burger King, Kodak, Telegram, and Bank of England, India’s fourth-largest telecom giant, Reliance Jio, is now set to launch its own cryptocurrency dubbed as JioCoin. Akash Ambani, the elder son of Mukesh Ambani is leading a 50-member team, working on blockchain technology for the JioCoin project. Within 15 months of its launch, Reliance Jio claims to have reached 160 Mn subscribers. Driven by Jio ‘s expansive network, the company has launched a number of products since then and has forayed into media and entertainment. This includes Jio Phones, Jionet WiFi, JioTV, Jio Cinema, Jio Music, Jio Money and Jio Switch!

Sneha Raisoni, founder of the 'Tappu Ki Dukaan' store, did what most can only dream of: she left her job as a chartered accountant at an investment bank (that she had worked with for half a decade!) to cater to her creative side, and that too, during the recession phase. Sneha’s first store was opened in the unoccupied mezzanine floor of her father’s optician store in late 2009, and she managed to break even withina year. Just over three months after the RBI released the official guidelines for non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) engaged in P2P lending, the country’s peer-to-peer lending platforms have come together to form the Association of P2P Lending Platforms. The first-of-its-kind association will act as a representative for its members as well as the country’s P2P lending industry. Furthermore, the association will work in conjunction with the government and regulatory authorities on matters of compliance. The association’s ultimate objective is to promote the cause of financial inclusion in the country, and will work actively towards creating awareness about peer-to-peer lending in India as well as promoting its merits among individual and institutional investors in the country.

When a government primary school near Kalyan Nagar in Bengaluru, needed repairs, it was four children who came forward to help - by donating their pocket money towards the school’s needs. Nidhi Shankar Reddy, a pre-university student, Neha Reddy an SSLC student, Dhruva Reddy a Class 4 student and Deekhshitha Reddy, a Class 8 student collectively saved around Rs 1.5 lakh, to spend on development work for the school. Thanks to their efforts, the school has now received a new lease of life, with a new toilet, and freshly painted benches and classrooms. It was Nidhi’s domestic help’s son, who told her about the school’s poor condition. Nidhi decided to do something and roped in her siblings for the cause. Their parents did not have any idea about this gesture and only found out when some teachers from the school informed them about it!
Vladimir Gendelman immigrated to the United States with his parents from the Soviet Union with less than $500 to their name. Inspite of all the hardships, he started a computer repair shop before starting Company Folders in 2003. Company Folders, Inc. is an innovative presentation company that has gone on to win multiple awards including making the list of Inc. 5000’s fastest growing private companies in America in 2015 and 2016. “My motivation is my desire to never go back to that lifestyle,” Gendelman said about life in the Soviet Union.

Flipkart founders Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal have incorporated a new company named Sabin Advisors - for routing their investments through this new venture and might look at other businesses over a period of time. As of now, they have invested in seven and 17 ventures with a total funding of $26 Mn and $32 Mn respectively. Their existing portfolio includes a number of startups from different domains such as edtech platform Unacademy, two-wheeler startup Ather Energy, Sightuple, Inshorts among others. As both Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal have already got hands-on experience in early-stage startups, the design thinking of Sabin Advisors is yet to reveal, such as the corpus to be raised for the funding, funding stage, calendar and other details. Also, it will be interesting to watch what would be the future roles of Bansal Brothers in Flipkart now.
