Amazon has launched a B2B marketplace Amazon Business. It will focus on the procurement needs of Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) such as technology and service companies, manufacturers, universities, schools and offices. SMBs will have access to over a 100 million products, including laptops, printers, network storage solutions, electronics, pantry supplies, office supplies, cleaning etc., with all GST compliant invoices.

Businesses can register with Amazon Business with their GST number and thus become entitled to input tax credit (varying between 5% -28% basis different product types). Apart from this the B2B marketplace also offers business-specific features like business-only pricing and quantity discount on bulk orders.

START NOW - A beautiful story of how life changes once you start walking...

This is a true story of Eula Weaver. She suffered her first severe heart attack at 77. The doctor gave her several medicines and told her to go home and wait for the inevitable - a fatal heart attack. Another doctor told her, "Eula, you can do that, or you can do something about your condition. You'll feel a lot better if you start to walk."

Eula went home to walk but it seemed impossible. Sometimes when she walked only fifty feet, her leg muscles would cramp, and she would have to be carried home. She din't give up and decided to give it a try.

Each day she tried to walk a little more than the day before. When the neighbors saw Eula in jogging clothes, hobbling along, they thought she was losing her mind.

Soon she was walking a mile a day. Within two years Mrs. Weaver was getting up at 5.30 every morning to trot several blocks and jog a mile around the track. If she couldn't get to the track, she rode the stationary bicycle in her bedroom as far as twenty miles, often reading the newspaper while she pedaled.

At age 85, she was invited to run in the Senior Olympics. A gold medal awarded to her in that race. Some of Eula's accomplishments in the Senior Olympics were winning the following:
1. 800 meters 85-89 7:03.0 Eula Weaver (85) 1974
2. 1,500 meters 90-94 17:15.0 Eula Weaver (90) 1979

Mrs. Eula Weaver went on to live for 101 years and passed away peacefully. Not bad for a lady who was told to go home and wait to die 24 years before... "A little progress each day adds up to big results"

Walking can turn from "creeping obesity" to "creeping fat loss". An overweight person normally walks 2.2 miles per day and a person of average build walks 4.8 miles a day. The difference of 2.6 miles per day equals to 200 to 300 calories a day and 20 to 30 pounds a year.

To reduce obesity, the goal should be to walk as far as you can. During exercises such as walking, jogging or swimming for half an hour, about 50% energy comes from glycogen and 50% from fats. For an hour, there will be a significant increase in the fat you use. If you exercise longer than that, fats will supply almost 90% of the energy. "So, the longer you walk, the more fat you burn!"

1. Set a goal

3. Make a time commitment
4. Choose the best time of the day
5. Dress and think the part

Walking in the right SHOES:
Your walking shoes should be comfortable. You should not experience any blisters, irritation, pain or fatigue because of improper walking footwear. Just ensure:

1. Your shoes have a cushioning sole, which lessens the shock that is transmitted to the knees.

2. There must be ample room in the toe box so that your toes can wiggle a bit.

3. Your feet must not slide from side to side but there should be enough space so that there is no tightness around your feet.

4. The heel region of the shoes (heel counters) should offer good support to the heels and should be firm. The sole should flex at the ball of the feet so that there is no pain in the Achilles Tendon.

5. The heel elevation should be 1/2 to 3/4th of an inch above the sole.

6. If your toes are curled, then there is something wrong.

In short, running shoes are best for walking. These small things will really help you in experiencing a life-changing exercise which is both comfortable and effective.

Three Tests for Walking:
1. Talk: You should be able to talk.
2. Painless: If you feel any pain in your chest, jaw or neck, slow down! If it does not stop, then please see a doctor.
3. Excessive tiredness: If you feel excessively fatigued after a one hour walk or if you're walk was too strenuous, you must take rest. Walking should be exhilarating and not fatiguing.

Listen to your body, you're the best judge. Any exercise, to be effective for your heart and lungs, must be for a minimum of 15-20 minutes. That's why games like tennis, even with periods of furious activities, but where action is not sustained, is not useful for strengthening your heart and lungs.

On the other hand, walking is sustained, rhythmical and continuous which burns a sizeable number of calories, thus helping to control weight and reduce fat. Therefore, the amount of time spent walking (sustained action), not the distance or pace, is the crucial part of the program.

The Perfect Walking Programme:
The secret of walking comfortably is to walk naturally. For your benefit, do not take a leisurely stroll. To enjoy rewards, you must walk for more than one hour each day (break it up during the day), several days a week. While walking, it’s good to keep your spine straight and hold your head high, but try not to be conscious of this that you feel unnatural.

Do not exaggerate your arm movement and allow them to hand loosely. Keep your hands, hips, knees and ankles relaxed and don't worry about the length of your stride. Just do what is comfortable and ensure that each foot strikes the ground at your heel. The weight is the transferred from your heel up along the outer border of your foot toward your toes. The you should push off with your toes to complete the foot strike pattern. As you move from heel to toe, you will get a rolling motion. Avoid landing flat-footed, otherwise you may be headed for some leg and foot trouble later on.

Breathe naturally and if possible with your mouth closed. The faster you go, the more oxygen you'll need. Help yourself with as much as you need. Remember you are walking for fitness and fun, so you need not worry about style of form.

*How To Survive A Stampede*

It is interesting to note that the force of only 6 or 7 people pushing in the same direction can generate up to 1000 lbs of force – enough to bend steel railings and topple brick walls.

During a deadly stampede, people can even die standing up… people die when pressure is applied to their bodies in a front to back direction, causing them not to be able to breath.

When pressure is applied to their side, they often survive, probably because their rib cages are protecting their ability to breath.

If you are in a crowd, a first and most important thing is to make yourself familiar with your surroundings and mentally notice alternate exits. No matter where you are, make sure you always know how to get out.

Make yourself aware of the type of ground you are standing on, and know that in a crowd of moving people wet or uneven ground can be slippery or hazardous, causing you to fall.

Be aware of the general atmosphere of the event, as panic situations can often be anticipated.

When in danger, a few seconds can make all the difference, giving you the possibility of taking advantage of your escaping route. Always stay closer to the escape route.

If you find yourself in the middle of a moving crowd do not fight against the pressure, do not stand still or sit down, because you could easily get trampled.

*Instead, move in the same direction of the crowd; take advantage of any space that may open up to move sideways to the crowd movement where the flow is weaker.*

Keep your hands up by your chest, like a boxer – it gives you movement and protects your chest.

If you fall, get up quickly. If you can’t get up because you are injured, get someone to pull you back up. If you have kids, lift them up.

If you fall and cannot get up, keep moving by crawling in the same direction of the crowd, or if that is not possible, then cover your head with your arms and curl up into the fetal position *(do not lay on your stomach or back, as this dangerously exposes your lungs).*

The worst scenario is to be pushed by the crowd against an immovable object. Try to stay away from walls, fences or barricades, as the crowd pressure can build up rapidly.

After you’re pushed forward, like in a wave there’s a lull. In that lull is your chance to move, and the way you move is on a diagonal, between pockets of people. There’s always space between people. A couple of steps sideways, another wave surge, then another couple of steps in the next lull.

You work your way out in that way till you get to the periphery.
