Also rated as a tough climb in the South India, Vellarimala in Kozhikode is another of the popular places to see near Wayanad Kerala. Feel the crisp mountain air piercing you as clouds play hide and seek along the mountains.

To access the trek one has to reach the Muthappanpuzha village (4 km from Vellarimala base) in Kozhikode, which can be reached from Wayanad by getting down at Thamarassery while riding a bus headed to Kozhikode. The trail takes you across dense forests to beautiful landscapes. An ideal place to plan camping with friends, Vellarimala and Vavul Mala is an ideal trek for all the adventure seekers.

​​Folklore Theatre and Museum

Kerala Folklore Theatre and Museum is one of Cochin’s most popular tourist spots. It exhibits state cultural exhibits and folk-tribal objects. The museum is a 3-story building, opened in 2009, which represents Kerala’s real legacy. The facade of the building has had a very strong architectural influence from Malabar.

​​Vypeekotta Seminary

The remains of the Vypeekotta Seminary built by the Portuguese are preserved as a historic monument and site. The Vypeekotta Seminary is located in Chendamangalam village in Ernakulam District. There were many buildings in the premises which were destroyed during the wars in the later period. There is a church still functioning in the same compound probably built during the same period but renovated later. Many stone inscriptions were encountered from the church compound during the exploration done here in 1935. The inscriptions are fixed on a half wall in front of the church. The potteries collected from the nearby areas are housed in the Archaeological Museum, Thrissur. The remains of the Seminary with 50 cents of land was declared as protected monument in 1935.

Vazhvanthol waterfall is a great location for a treknic (trek + picnic). The waterfall trail is only about 2.2 kms, nevertheless expect to reach the cascade in an hour. You will be amazed how little this awesome place is known. Other than keen nature enthusiasts, not a lot of people venture to here.

Vazhvanthol waterfall is past Vithura in the north eastern part of Thiruvananthapuram district. Soon after Vithura is Theviyode junction. Take the deviation towards Bonacaud. Travel about 12 kms and you will reach the check post, where you have to take the entry pass. Vehicles travel a couple of kms from the check post.
