Located near the beautiful backwaters of Iringal near Vadakara in Kozhikode district of Kerala, Sargaalaya Kerala Arts and Crafts village is a wonderful initiative by the Department of Tourism, Kerala. An exquisite blend of brilliant hand crafted designs and age old traditions, the centre boasts of rich craftsmanship displays and some incredible handiworks of local artisans. Sprawling over a vast 20 acres of land with a total construction cost of 15 crores, the village was established on 19th of February, 2011 and was inaugurated by the then Home and Tourism Minister, Mr Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. With an objective to promote tourism along with encouraging the local arts and crafts of traditional Kerala, Sargaalaya Crafts Village gives its tourists an opportunity to witness the live workmanship and artisans at work.

Ilaveezha Poonchira, the Shangri-La of Kerala, situated in Melukavu village in Kottayam district is one of the places to visit in Idukki. Vypeekotta Seminary
The remains of the Vypeekotta Seminary built by the Portuguese are preserved as a historic monument and site. The Vypeekotta Seminary is located in Chendamangalam village in Ernakulam District. There were many buildings in the premises which were destroyed during the wars in the later period. There is a church still functioning in the same compound probably built during the same period but renovated later. Many stone inscriptions were encountered from the church compound during the exploration done here in 1935. The inscriptions are fixed on a half wall in front of the church. The potteries collected from the nearby areas are housed in the Archaeological Museum, Thrissur. The remains of the Seminary with 50 cents of land was declared as protected monument in 1935.

Athirapally Falls

Punnamada Lake
Punnamada Lake is known to be one of the most beautiful lakes in Kerala, expanding in a number of districts of the state. Due to the same reason, it has got various names, for example, Punnamada Lake in Kuttanad and Kochi Lake in Kochi. It is a part of Vembanad Lake. Ramacham Vishari
Ramacham (Vettiver) is widely used in Kerala in different forms. Botanically Ramacham is Vettiveria zezanoides. The grass and its roots are used widely for medicinal purposes. Ramacham vishari (literally fan made of Vettiver) and sleeping mats made of Ramacham and thailam or perfume extracted from its roots are a range of products used in Kerala since ancient times during the hot summer. Even though their purposes are 'better' served today by the modern electrical amenities, they still are luxurious ethnic items seen in some Kerala homes. Mananchira Lake, Kozhikode
Nestled in the core of Kozhikode (Calicut), Mananchira is a human-engineered freshwater lake, which originates from a natural spring and spans across 3.49 acres. Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary Kannur – To the Unspoiled Forest
Located on the western slope of the Western Ghats, the sprawling landmass of 55 sq. km is another of the best places to visit near Wayanad that must be on your bucket list. Vazhuvanthol waterfalls
Vazhvanthol waterfall is a great location for a treknic (trek + picnic). The waterfall trail is only about 2.2 kms, nevertheless expect to reach the cascade in an hour. Vazhvanthol waterfall is past Vithura in the north eastern part of Thiruvananthapuram district. Soon after Vithura is Theviyode junction. Take the deviation towards Bonacaud. Travel about 12 kms and you will reach the check post, where you have to take the entry pass. Vehicles travel a couple of kms from the check post.
