Located on the Erattupetta - Muttom Road, the Ayyampara Hills is a rocky plateau which is an emerging picnic spot in Kottayam district. According to legends, during their exile the five Pandava brothers of the Mahabharata stayed near this rock, which is 2,000 ft. above sea level and spread over 20 acres. The name of the rock is said to be derived from the term Anchupara (“five rocks”). But there is also a belief that the place got its name due to an Ayyappa Temple here. The temple’s four pillars support a flat piece of rock that forms the roof. There is a cave on one side of the rock and it can accommodate more than 15 people.
The sunset views from the hilltop are simply amazing and worth the trek up the hill. The cool mountain breeze and the breath-taking panoramic views is sure to refresh your mind and body. From the hilltop, we get a bird’s-eye view of the nearby towns like Erattupetta and Pala, and also the zigzag course of the many tributaries of the Meenachal river.

Mogral Puthur is a gram panchayat in the Kasaragod District, state of Kerala, India. It is north of the town of Kasaragod, and it consists of two revenue villages (Puthur and Kudlu). The village of Puthur (also called Mogral Puthur) is the northern portion of the roughly circular panchayat, and Kudlu encompasses the southern half. Memunda is a small village near Vatakara town in Kozhikode district of Kerala, south India. The Story of Thcholi Othenan is related to Memunda. Many exploits of Tacholi Othenan, the hero of the ballads of north malabar (Vadakkan Pattukal) were held in is the Lokanarkavu, in Memunda. Annual ceremonies are conducted in memory of "Othenan" whose birthplace is Manikoth, Meppayil near Memunda. The Lokanarkavu Bhagavathi Temple is in Memunda. The main attraction in Memunda is the 'Lokanarkavu Utsavam' (festival) during the months of Vrishchikam (November–December) and Meenam (March–April). The village has three rock-cut caves. The majority of the residents of Memunda are day laborers although there also reside many architects, teachers, and remote workers. There is also Kunnoth Para Quarry, a rock quarry in Memunda.

A new tardigrade (water bear) species collected from Vadakara coast has been named after Kerala State; Stygarctus keralensis. Vadakara State assembly constituency is one of the 140 state legislative assembly constituencies in Kerala state in southern India. It is also one of the 7 state legislative assembly constituencies included in the Vatakara Lok Sabha constituency. As of the 2021 assembly election, the current MLA is K.K Rema of Revolutionary Marxist Party of India.

Poovar is a tourist town in Neyyattinkara (tehsil) in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala state, South India. The central mosque in Poovar was built by Malik Deenar, an eighth century Muslim preacher. During the reign of the Chola dynasty, Poovar was a major port. The explorer Megasthenes, Roman writer Pliny the Elder and Venetian traveller Marco Polo mention connections with Greece and Rome.

Pampanal Waterfalls is located in Kottayam district in Kerala, India. It is located near Manathoor on the Pala-Thodupuzha bypass route, approximately 42 kilometres from Kottayam town and 15 kilometres from Thodupuzha. The waterfall has three viewpoints and rushes over the rocks for a long distance, and falls 50 metres below.

Valiyaparamba is a coastal island in Hosdurg taluk, Kasaragod district, Kerala state, India. Valiyaparamba is separated from the mainland by Kavvayi Backwater. It is located five kilometres (3.1 mi) southwest of Cheruvathur and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Bekal, Kasaragod, north Kerala. The island is approximately 16.14 square kilometres (6.23 sq mi) in size, and had a population of 11,917 in 1991. The island's main source of income is from agriculture and fishing. The island has 13 wards ruling by each ward member to leading the Valiyaparamba Panchayat. Valiyaparamba is fed by four rivers and dotted with numerous little islands. Valiyaparamba, a hinterland separated from the mainland, is a noted fishing centre in the district. A Bekal Fort stands on a headland that runs into the sea. A National Waterway passes through the island.

Pozhiyoor had an ancient port at the present golden sand beach at Pozhikkara and was a major trading centre on those days, around 1000 BC, period of David and Solomon. Pozhiyoor wan an ancient trading centre of timber, sandal wood, ivory, spices and other important goods of that era. It is believed that the ships of Solomon landed in the port and conducted trade with this part of world. Ancient day name of Pozhiyoor was Ophir, which is mentioned in the Bible (1Kings 10:11). Pozhiyoor and Poovar had witnessed early settlement of Muslims from Arabia. It is believed that the mosque in Poovar was founded by Malik Dinar, an early Muslim preacher came to Kerala for spreading the new faith.

Odanad was a feudal state in late medieval Kerala. It was established in the 11th century, and disestablished in 1746 when it became part of Travancore after Venad King Marthanda Varma's northern expedition. The last king of Odanad was King Kotha Varma. At the time of its dissolution, it was composed of the present-day taluks of Mavelikkara, Karthikapally, Chenganur in the Alappuzha district and Karunagapally in the Kollam district. In the 15th century, the capital of Odanad was moved from Kandiyoor-Muttom, Mavelikkara to Eruva and Krishnapuram, near Kayamkulam, which led to the state being called Kayamkulam. After this shift, Kayamkulam became the commercial centre of Odanad, while Mavelikkara remained its cultural centre. Odanad was controlled by Nair lords, among whom the ruler of Kayamkulam was the most prominent.
