​​A scenic hill station that has a plethora of stories to tell - that is Puralimala in Kannur district. Standing tall at 3,000ft above sea level, it is witness to numerous sagas and historical movements. Travellers flock to the destination to have a spectacular view of the Thalassery town and the Arabian Sea.

According to history, King Pazhassi Raja or Kerala Varma waged his first revolutionary battle against the British on the hills. The warrior king of the Kottayam dynasty stayed with Kurichyar community here to hide from the British.

The hill station has more tales to narrate. According to mythology, the deity of Parassinikadavu reached Parassinikadavu Temple from Kunnathurpadi through Puralimala. It is also believed that Puralimala is a part of Maruthwamala. It is said Maruthwamala had fallen from the hands of Lord Hanuman while he was taking it to Lanka as mentioned in the Ramayana.

​​Valiyaparamba is a coastal island in Hosdurg taluk, Kasaragod district, Kerala state, India. Valiyaparamba is separated from the mainland by Kavvayi Backwater. It is located five kilometres (3.1 mi) southwest of Cheruvathur and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Bekal, Kasaragod, north Kerala. The island is approximately 16.14 square kilometres (6.23 sq mi) in size, and had a population of 11,917 in 1991. The island's main source of income is from agriculture and fishing. The island has 13 wards ruling by each ward member to leading the Valiyaparamba Panchayat. Valiyaparamba is fed by four rivers and dotted with numerous little islands. Valiyaparamba, a hinterland separated from the mainland, is a noted fishing centre in the district. A Bekal Fort stands on a headland that runs into the sea. A National Waterway passes through the island.

​​Pozhiyoor is a village in the district of Thiruvananthapuram in the State of Kerala in India. It has gradually grown to a well known tourist destination in India. The major attractions of Poovar tourism area are in Pozhiyoor. Pozhikkara, estuary formed by river Neyyar before it falls into the mighty Arabian Sea is the centre of attraction of tourism circuit in Poovar. Golden Beach, Elephant Rock, Anantha Victoria Marthanda Varma Canal, Pieta are other major attractions in Pozhiyoor Beach area in Thiruvananthapuram. It is at the coastal border of the Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu . The history of Pozhiyoor traces to the ancient ages. Pozhiyoor had an ancient port at the present golden sand beach at Pozhikkara and was a major trading centre on those days, around 1000 BC, period of David and Solomon. Pozhiyoor wan an ancient trading centre of timber, sandal wood, ivory, spices and other important goods of that era. It is believed that the ships of Solomon landed in the port and conducted trade with this part of world. Ancient day name of Pozhiyoor was Ophir, which is mentioned in the Bible (1Kings 10:11). Pozhiyoor and Poovar had witnessed early settlement of Muslims from Arabia. It is believed that the mosque in Poovar was founded by Malik Dinar, an early Muslim preacher came to Kerala for spreading the new faith.

​​Kondotty is a developing town, municipality, and aerotropolis in the Malappuram district state of Kerala, India which is located near Calicut International Airport, 24 km from Malappuram. It is the headquarters of Kondotty Taluk, which was declared as the seventh taluk in Malappuram district by chief minister Oommen Chandy on 23 December 2013. ​​Odanad was a feudal state in late medieval Kerala. It was established in the 11th century, and disestablished in 1746 when it became part of Travancore after Venad King Marthanda Varma's northern expedition. The last king of Odanad was King Kotha Varma. At the time of its dissolution, it was composed of the present-day taluks of Mavelikkara, Karthikapally, Chenganur in the Alappuzha district and Karunagapally in the Kollam district. In the 15th century, the capital of Odanad was moved from Kandiyoor-Muttom, Mavelikkara to Eruva and Krishnapuram, near Kayamkulam, which led to the state being called Kayamkulam. After this shift, Kayamkulam became the commercial centre of Odanad, while Mavelikkara remained its cultural centre. Odanad was controlled by Nair lords, among whom the ruler of Kayamkulam was the most prominent.

​​Thevalli Palace is a popular heritage Palace situated at the banks of Ashtamudi lake, in Thevally, Kollam city. It is an important historic monument in the state of Kerala in India. Thevally Palace was built in between 1811 and 1819 the reign of Gowri Parvati Bayi. It is considered as a Hallmark of Kollam City. Now the palace is used as the NCC Group Headquarters of Kollam district.The palace and its premises are now owned by PWD. Thevally Palace is a kind of architectural marvel situated at Kollam city. It was built in between 1811 and 1819, during the reign of Gowri Parvati Bayi. The Kings of Travancore had used Thevally Palace during their visits to Kollam in order to meet the British Residents and to discuss with the officials. The architecture of the palace is a mixture of British, Dutch and Portuguese. The palace was once used for the administrative purposes. Kollam was the capital of Travancore kingdom then. The total skeleton of the palace, made of materials like laterire and lime plaster. The main attraction of the palace is that, it is situated on the banks of Ashtamudi Lake. The palace includes a temple of Lord Sastha.

​​Peechi Dam thrissur is situated 22 km (14 mi) outside Thrissur city in Kerala, India. The dam was started as an irrigation project for the surrounding villages in Thrissur. At the same time, it catered the drinking water needs of the population of Thrissur City. It serves as an irrigation dam, reaching out to the paddy fields in and around Thrissur city. Built across the Manali River, the dam has a catchment area of nearly 3,200 acres (1,300 ha). Elephants may be seen on the bank of Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1958 covering 125 square kilometres (48 sq mi).

​​Bolgatty Palace is a former palace built by the Dutch in India on Bolgatty Island in Kochi, Kerala. One of the oldest existing Dutch palaces outside Holland, the palace was built in 1744 by Dutch traders and later extended and gardens were landscaped around it. The building was then the Governor's palace for the commander of Dutch Malabar, and in 1909 was leased to the British. It served as the home of the British governors, being the seat of the British Resident of Cochin during the British Raj.

In 1947, when India attained independence, the palace became the property of the state and was converted into a heritage hotel resort.

​​Located on the Erattupetta - Muttom Road, the Ayyampara Hills is a rocky plateau which is an emerging picnic spot in Kottayam district. According to legends, during their exile the five Pandava brothers of the Mahabharata stayed near this rock, which is 2,000 ft. above sea level and spread over 20 acres. The name of the rock is said to be derived from the term Anchupara (“five rocks”). But there is also a belief that the place got its name due to an Ayyappa Temple here. The temple’s four pillars support a flat piece of rock that forms the roof. There is a cave on one side of the rock and it can accommodate more than 15 people.

The sunset views from the hilltop are simply amazing and worth the trek up the hill. The cool mountain breeze and the breath-taking panoramic views is sure to refresh your mind and body. From the hilltop, we get a bird’s-eye view of the nearby towns like Erattupetta and Pala, and also the zigzag course of the many tributaries of the Meenachal river.

The rocky plains are a favourite destination for adventure junkies as there are a lot of trekking trails waiting to be explored here. The trekking trails from Kottayam will gift you with a wide spectrum of scenic treasures that will surely surprise you.

​​Mogral Puthur is a gram panchayat in the Kasaragod District, state of Kerala, India. It is north of the town of Kasaragod, and it consists of two revenue villages (Puthur and Kudlu). The village of Puthur (also called Mogral Puthur) is the northern portion of the roughly circular panchayat, and Kudlu encompasses the southern half. Mogral Puthur has on its west border the Arabian Sea; on the east is the Madhur panchayat; and on the north is the Mogral River (separates Mogral Puthur from the Kumbla and Puthige panchayats). The total area of this "second-grade" panchayat is 14.23 square kilometers. The major business centers are: Puthur, Chowki, Padinhar and Eriyal.

​​Thirumeni is a village in Kannur district in the Kerala state of India. It is known for its hill station Chathamangalam Hills. The village has several recently migrated families from various parts of the erstwhile political entity (state) of Travancore (mainly from Pathanamthitta Kottayam and Idukki Districts) who settled here in the famed "Malabar migration period" in the nineteenth century. Most of the inhabitants of the village reside in the valley of three major hills by name Chathamangalam Theruvamala alias Alumbumala, Kottathalachimala and Thevarkunnumala. Thirumeni is a small junction with a few government institutions, religious institutions and small shops in int. and is subdivided into smaller villages like Kokkadave, Prapoyil, Chathamangalam (Kannur), Thabore, Muthuvom, Korali, Chattivayal, Thannichal, Paruthikallu etc.

​​Memunda is a small village near Vatakara town in Kozhikode district of Kerala, south India. The Story of Thcholi Othenan is related to Memunda. Many exploits of Tacholi Othenan, the hero of the ballads of north malabar (Vadakkan Pattukal) were held in is the Lokanarkavu, in Memunda. Annual ceremonies are conducted in memory of "Othenan" whose birthplace is Manikoth, Meppayil near Memunda. The Lokanarkavu Bhagavathi Temple is in Memunda. The main attraction in Memunda is the 'Lokanarkavu Utsavam' (festival) during the months of Vrishchikam (November–December) and Meenam (March–April). The village has three rock-cut caves. The majority of the residents of Memunda are day laborers although there also reside many architects, teachers, and remote workers. There is also Kunnoth Para Quarry, a rock quarry in Memunda.

​​Vatakara, also spelled Vadakara (formerly Badagara), French: Bargaret, is a Municipality in the state of Kerala, India. Vatakara is located between Kannur and Kozhikode. The municipality of Vatakara covers an area of 23.33 km² (9.01 sq mi) and is bordered by Mahé to the north and Payyoli to the south. It is the headquarters of Vatakara taluk, which consists of 22 panchayats. During the reign of the Kolathiris and Zamorins, Vatakara was known as Kadathanadu. During the British Raj, it was part of the North Malabar region of Malabar District in the state of Madras. The historic Lokanarkavu temple, made famous by the Vadakkan Pattukal (ballads of North Malabar), is situated in Vatakara. A new tardigrade (water bear) species collected from Vadakara coast has been named after Kerala State; Stygarctus keralensis. Vadakara State assembly constituency is one of the 140 state legislative assembly constituencies in Kerala state in southern India. It is also one of the 7 state legislative assembly constituencies included in the Vatakara Lok Sabha constituency. As of the 2021 assembly election, the current MLA is K.K Rema of Revolutionary Marxist Party of India.

​​Poovar is a tourist town in Neyyattinkara (tehsil) in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala state, South India. This village is almost at the southern tip of Thiruvananthapuram while the next village, Pozhiyoor, marks the end of Kerala. Poovar lies very close to Vizhinjam, a natural harbour. The beach of Pozhiyoor named Pozhikkara is located near Poovar. The 56 km Neyyar River passes through Neyyattinkara Taluk into the Arabian Sea near Poovar. Poovar was a trading centre of timber, sandalwood, ivory and spices. It is believed that ships owned by King Solomon of Israel landed in Ophir, which is identified by some sources as Poovar, The village was one of the ancient Muslim settlements along the western coast of India. The central mosque in Poovar was built by Malik Deenar, an eighth century Muslim preacher. During the reign of the Chola dynasty, Poovar was a major port. The explorer Megasthenes, Roman writer Pliny the Elder and Venetian traveller Marco Polo mention connections with Greece and Rome.

​​Mavelikkara is a taluk and municipality in the Onattukara region of Alappuzha district in the Indian state of Kerala. Located in the southern part of the district on the banks of the Achankovil River. The town boasts about a rich historical and cultural background. The Chettikulangara Devi Temple, known for the Kumbha Bharani festival is located near the municipality. The place is home to one of the 108 Shiva temples of Kerala created by Lord Parashurama, the Kandiyoor Mahadeva Temple. ​​Punnathurkotta is a fort and former palace located in Kottapadi, about 3 km from the Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple, in Thrissur District of Kerala State in South India. Punnathurkotta was once the palace of a local ruler, but the palace grounds are now used to house the elephants belonging to the Guruvayoor temple, and has been renamed Anakkotta (meaning "Elephant Fort"). There were 86 elephants housed there, but currently there are about 59 elephants. The elephants are ritual offerings made by the devotees of Lord Guruvayurappa.

​​Vazhvanthol waterfall is a great location for a treknic (trek + picnic). The waterfall trail is only about 2.2 kms, nevertheless expect to reach the cascade in an hour. You will be amazed how little this awesome place is known. Other than keen nature enthusiasts, not a lot of people venture to here. Vazhvanthol waterfall is past Vithura in the north eastern part of Thiruvananthapuram district. Soon after Vithura is Theviyode junction. Take the deviation towards Bonacaud. Travel about 12 kms and you will reach the check post, where you have to take the entry pass. Vehicles travel a couple of kms from the check post.
